In that case, definitely check out the samsung galaxy Xcover 6 pro, a normal but rugged phone. Though it doen't have a stylus pen but you an get a pen that's compatible for with Samsung Note apps.
It's cool that samsung is delving into a upper mid power 8" tablet again (I used to love the smaller 8.0 tab s2, great tablet in it's time), but I don't really think this is a good comparison of devices because of the huge difference in raw horsepower for the cpu/socs. Geekbench 6 lists it as over twice as fast in single and multi core (134% & 106%). Antu 10 has it over twice as fast (120%). Huge contrast. The exynos 1380 is around a snapdragon 845 or 855 (closer to the 855), but the A15 Bionic really blows it away. I'm not an apple fan, but it's hard to deny the objective specs. I do wish (much like some of the posters below), Samsung would make a Tab S version that included the 8" form factor. A 8" tab s8 or s9 would be amazing.
I just bought a samsung and I am very satisfied because it can make calls and replace the battery and screen more smoothly! The battery life is okay, it’s convenient to just buy an extra used battery!
I'm actually quite surprised that the image quality is better on the Active 5 than the Ipad Mini. I know the Mini is consider Apple low-tier but still. Regardless for what the Active 5 is seemingly designed (outdoor utilitarian) for the Active 5 definitely beats the Ipad Mini. On the same note with how the Ipad Mini is seemingly designed (everyday use) for the Ipad Mini definitely beats the Active 5. At the end of the day it all depends on how you're going to use these two tablets.

I’m at a loss after this video. This Samsung is not quite as high end as the iPad mini, but I feel that it’s so close, that for Android lovers of super small tablets, its potentially better. I have a MacBook Air, a desktop Mac, and a Samsung Flip Phone. And a Samsung Tab 9 and an iPad mini. When I travel for pleasure, I would never take video and such with the tablet like the old people use their iPads on the cruise ships. I just read my Kindle App book, check email, watch Tik Toks, sur f the web, etc. I really, really want my tablet to mirror my phone’s system and apps. I have the Tab 9 tablet, and its HUGE AND HEAVY. I can’t read with it as my arms get tired. I hate to pack it as its like lugging a laptop almost. I am a bit nervous that this is 50% heavier in weight than the iPad mini, for when I read a book at the pool, but I think for the average person who just travels the world, and needs a small tablet that doesn’t take up much space in their bag, this is the holy grail. Yes, one will be able to find eventually more nits, a bit higher graphic, and longer battery, but for day to day junk, this puppy looks like it would do the job IF one wants to be on Android. I have been dying to dump my iPad mini because it’s just like iPhone, which has a crappy and limiting operating system. You can’t do much with the iPad’s widgets, and you have to do exactly what Steve Jobs wanted you to do.
I really want that galaxy tab but it feel more expensive than nessicary. I wish they'd make this exact same tablet without the rugged features for a lower cost. I love that screen size
How are you comparing a rugged usage tablet with a flaghsip mini tablet. Its like comparing blueberries with stones and saying blueberries taste better lmao. Theres no comparison. Maybe compare with something from Samsung that is intended for normal flagship use?
What's the brightness in nits on the Galaxy Tab Active5? I want a rugged tablet that's viewable in daylight because I'd be running the ZCAM app on it to see the feed from my cinema camera.
