Thanks Amber. I don't know why I didn't think of using the Cuttlebug to cut foam before but it really did work a treat. The Sissex cutting dies are much sharper than the generic ones I buy so they'd be better at cutting thicker foam but for what I needed my cheap ones worked fine. I need some different fonts now!
Wow the spell books are stunning, I love crafting, at the moment I'm, making potion bottles for the charity shop I volunteer for. I took 16 in this week and sold 14 to one lady, who has now asked me to make three spell books for her. I came home yesterday with three books from the charity shop, with not a clue where to start, your video has inspired me and I now think I can do it. Oh and when working with those piders I have to be careful not to drop them, they look so realistic and I'm terrified of spiders😄
Was not expecting Ghost in a craft video about how to DYI a grimoire-est notebook for my D&D Warlock... Right ON!!! Edit: I realize it isn't really Ghost, but it does have a similar sound/progression, I guess.
The books turned out cool. I must admit, the spiders creeped me out. Too real looking (you've guessed my fear). So I'm about to make a few for Halloween props and have most of my stuff. I bought a kit of corners and knobs for a jewelry box and that will do a good portion of my adornments. I took your spider idea (and was looking for snakes too) and went to the dollar tree. I was alble to find a bag with 16 peices of "reptiles" all about the size of the spiders you have. There are frogs, scorpions, beatles, crickets and a couple of lizards. All for $1.25. All are either red or black. I'll paint some of them for placing on the spine, anything that goes on the front will likely be painted gold or bronze, some may go under the paper as part of a raised look.
So glad the video helped. I have to admit I struggled with the spiders because they really do look too realistic! The jiffy bag full of them loose really freaks me out! I love your idea of using the reptiles and bugs. We struggle to find helpful bags of stuff like that in the UK but they will look brilliant on your books. Good luck with the project!
Love how you did these books. I would love to try and recreate the looks, but I don't have any machines etc to make letters, dragon eye. What do you do with the pages, do you write over the top of the original print or tear pages out? TFS 🤗🤗
Thanks so much. If I paint the edges of the pages gold or silver with acrylic paint is usually sticks most of the pages together so I don't do anything inside. I have seen people creating stunning paint designs on the edges of pages, and they use clamps to keep the pages really tightly together and afterwards they can still leaf through the book. I don't what paint they were using, it could have been an alcohol based paint which may be less destructive than acrylic. I need to investigate this more because it would be great to add spells and potion recipes into the pages inside. If it's a book I might read I just leave the pages alone
@@marymcintyresfxartcraft7417 Thank you for replying. I have a book that I don't want to read but would love to use for spells etc. It would be great if you could investigate more about the pages as that seems like a fab idea 🤗 I have subbed as I'm really interested in your books etc 😊
Sorry for the late reply. If you have a silicone mould you can squeeze glue from your hot glue gun into it and once fully cooled and set you can pop it out and you have a badge or medallion. The skull I used here was actually half of a two-piece cake fondant mould and when you put the two pieces together it gives you a full 3D skull. I only needed the front half so I just filled that with glue then painted it. It took a lot of glue, but now I do a lot more work with epoxy resin I would use that if I made this again. It's much lighter once cured
I have definitely seen other people painting book pages in a way that doesn't stick them together but I'm bot sure what medium they painted it with. I guess alcohol activated paint would dry faster and wouldn't leave then pages stuck, but I don't know if it would bleed into the pages and make a mess
Hi Lynne, I don't know exactly what font the letters are because I just used the cutting die for my Cuttllebug machine that had the alphabet on it. However, looking on Word, the two closest fonts to the ones in my cutting die are Forte and Monotype Corsiva. Hope that helps.

Loved all the books. Looking forward to your next project.
Thank you Dianne :D
Loved this video! All three are so creative and stunning, I couldn't possibly pick a favourite.
Thank you so much Peter 😊
BRILLIANT! Had no idea it would cut through foam. The letters look amazing! Thank you so much.

Thank you for sharing for such a great product
I'm so glad you enjoyed watching. I hope I get time to make some more this year because I have some new ideas to try out :)
Our public library sells old library books for a dollar and sometimes 50 cents.
That's great. They sell hardback books so cheaply these days in so many places
Love ❤️ Them Just Found You 💕
Thank you, I'm so happy you like them :)

How did you make the hot glue skull?

Is there anyways to actually paint all the pages so you can write in the book?
