DIY Hocus Pocus Spell Book | TWO Simple Methods

- It's just a bunch of Hocus Pocus! To celebrate the return of Hocus Pocus 2 this Halloween, I made Winifred's Spell Book, bound in human skin and containing her most evil spells.
This project was an absolute scream to do! Just a joy! I created two simple methods that anyone can recreate. The clay method will require a little time investment, but it is still easy to make. And the hot glue method is almost TOO easy. It would be a super fun project for kids.

For this project, you will need the following:
- An old book - Secondhand store
- White tissue paper - Dollar store
- Paper towels
- Modge Podge - Craft store or Walmart
- Sponge brushes - Dollar store
- Acrylic paint: flesh tones, warm browns and silver
- Air dry clay: www.amazon.com...
- Sculpting tools: can be repurposed kitchen items - www.amazon.com...
- White card stock
- Paper bowls for paint and glue
- 22 mm Plastic eyeball: www.amazon.com...
- Scissors
- Pen
- Hot glue gun
- Tweezers

Absolutely LOVE this tutorial. I followed it to the letter and it turned out great! The only issue I ran into was the book I used was white. I had to do several washes of paint before the last layer of tissue paper bc I had to hide the bright red lettering on my white book. If I had painted it with just a single layer of brown before hand I could have avoided the stress of painting over my tissue paper without destroying it. Not a major deal in the end as it turned out great but jist something I would have done differently if it had occurred to me! Thank you for the great tutorial!!!

Madam a bit of input if I may . Magnets to move the eye and to use on the locks to keep the book shut would be a good idea .

I'm not at all artistic, but decided to make this into a jewelry box to get use out of it. 🥰 I ordered coiled snaked jewelry from Temu for a couple bucks and they have other snake jewelry like a bracelet that I'm going to try to use going up the spine. I'm watching all you creative people that make these videos so I know how to do the rest and where to place everything 😃 I just thought it would be cool to have the eye watching out for my jewelry 😉👁
For not being artistic, those are some phenomenal, artistic ideas! I love it!! How did it turn out? I always challenge people who believe they are not artistic. Everyone can be! lovely, i love the hocus pocus movie the first one. the second on is not my cup of tea due... they always change from the formula. they seem to be doing that these days.

Winnie and Thachary Binxs my favorite Hocus Pocus characters. And this year in honor of the second Hocus Pocus movie I've decided to dress up as Winnie along with the two other sisters with two other family members and I am definitely going to make the spell book and I already have my black cat that I will be taking with me so I am really excited to try this

I saw someone used a googlie eye behind the eye to make it move around, but yours looks more realistic than anyone else's. Most people use the ping pong ball kind. Is there a way to use the eye you did with a googlie eye on the back or something? I think the other lady printed out an eye 🤔 You two did it differently and look cool, I'd like to combine idea's 🤗

How does the clay dry for the stitching?
Hi there! I use air dry clay. So it dries very quickly, and it's very sturdy.

I loved your video, but I do have a question I have one of those "fake " books (it has like a storage inside) I got it in the Halloween area What I wanted to ask was if I could use a book like this to do the Hocus Pocus book like you made? Thank you again for sharing this 🙂
Thanks so much!! ✨🙏🏼 That's a good question! I think it would work. I can't imagine why it wouldn't. I would just be sure to apply that first layer of modge and tissue paper so that the clay adheres well. I'm excited for you to try it! I'd love to see it! 🤗

@@lenamichellejames haha. I wasn't sure if the eyeball was human sized or not, I guess if it's larger you could cut up a pair and make them cover more territory. They'd probably get banged up though. The scale in videos isn't always obvious to the viewer
