  • Song parts loop. By recognizing this, you can step away from your guitar or piano etc. after figuring out lyrics for one part of the loop. Then you can focus totally on writing the rest of the words while applying the same rhythmic elements.

I love channels that are simple and actually get to the point. Tired of all those fancy channels making things more complicated than necessary

Open C, CGCEGC. I'm normally in D standard DGCFAD so it's basically the same as Open D but a whole step down. The first chord is Major7 but I forget the root. The second is some kind of F minor, probably with an added 6 or 9 or something.

@@benjamin-neal-warner Thanks ☺️ as soon as I get some money I’m gonna order a cheap acoustic from Harley Benton so I can play around with open tunings without having to constantly retune my main guitar - hopefully I’ll be able to make the order next week.

i know you dont do song tutorials but have you ever thought about puttiing a camera really close to your fretting and strumming hand and showing how you play your songs?

How do you approach your chords …broken chords?…a root then whatever sounds good with it..?….root w/a selected interval..?

To be honest I usually find those "half chords" by chance. Often it's when I already have a chord progression that I want to develop or tie it into another one, i.e. transition from verse to bridge. I just kinda find which note in the last chord of the progression stands out to me and fumble about on the fretboard to find where I feel like that voice should move. Once I know the note, I try to build a chord around it with shapes I already know or try to build a new shape. Probably 98% of the time it's root position or 2nd inversion. 1st inversion or higher order extended notes like 6ths, 7ths, 11ths etc. as the bass note tend to just be muddy on the low end so I naturally end up avoiding them.
      Hope that made sense.
