The amount of things this man has uncovered about this game shows just how much went into creating it, I truly hope a part 2 happens. Amazing content as always
Been going down the rabbit hole with your vids starting a few days ago. really rekindled my love for this game. incredible you're still making content from this game.
After some investigating, I've determined that all downvotes are the result of Knight Rider enthusiasts misinterpreting the video's title for "Strength Michael Knight vs Magic Michael Knight." Their disappointment may outlive them.
So... Magick is just better. Shocker there. I split mine 50/50 and the results were noticeable. I could no longer kill an undead dragon with 1 great cannon+holy riposte, now it takes 2. Not a big difference, but one is doing a little less than half the damage of the other. That perspective does make it a big difference. Great video as usual. Keep up the good work.
After some calculations best way to maximize damage for Mystic Knight is just to level a balanced build. I'm very skeptical to shit I read online so I like to do my own thing, and can now rest at ease that I didn't waste countless hours of my time creating my Mystic Knight lol. This wouldn't be the case if the augment damage cap wasn't there so utilizing the 2:3 40 60% split on Great Cannon of Strength and Magic respectively is the smartest thing to do.
Good to see you show up in my recommended again, buddy! I still can't bring myself to do a magick-focused build. Although powerful, and although I enjoy Sorcerer more than I used to, I just can't justify the effort XD
Even before watching the video, I'll give it a like, just because I was wondering what to do! I'm on my first playthrough right now, I want to get most of the trophies, do BBI stuff, and then start a New Game, not NG+m but New Game. And I was torn between Strider10/Assassin200 and Mage10/Assa97/Sorc200 for my stats. I will probably mostly play MK when I'm done levelling, but I feel like I hear quite often strength is generally the way to go, although the balanced build would allow more flexibility should I feel like Holy Focussed Bolt. So yeah, anyway, love that you read my mind. ;)
Nah, If you are going to build for the long run for multipla vocation use I would say the 600 split is the best. That build has you need to switch between the vocations and it's for MK
Why is Dark Souls as game shown in the description? Good video btw. I would die for another Dragons Dogma title. Its such an awesome game. (Finally a game with great sorcery)
Hmm, RUclips usually tries to assign these themselves. Logical conclusion: medieval looking fella + dark lighting = dark souls RUclips cracked the code!
I imagine both sides have their inherent weaknesses, like having to use strength for enemies with high magic resistance and vise versa Is there some way to get a relatively even balance of both, with a bit of an edge on magic? Perhaps the leveling could be something like this? 1-10 Strider 10-60 Assassin 60-200 Sorcerer
I've just started dragons dogma dark arisen again. I'm making a 100% strider run. I cannot TELL you how impatient i am for BBI. On to the topic of the vid: I actually just did mage 1-10 and then mystic knight. I figured as mystic knight, he's going to gain average attack, so he'll still be able to perform physical attacks well enough, but he's more magick oriented, like MA. Still one of my favorite vocations
Hey man I just gotta say that you are by far the best player I have seen for this game. But I have a question. I've been playing as a ranger/strider/assassin for most of my playtime on my character. Beat the game on hard-mode. I'm like level 98. But I've dabbled into the magic vocations as well, and I'm looking to play MK for a while. Obviously I'm not set stat wise for magic at the current moment but is it worth leveling to 200 as MK? Or should I stick to my bow?
great timing , I have a question that you might know that is tied to mk and fighter. is perfect blocking tied to fps and if so does that means a game at 144fps is harder to block then say 60? want mess around with mk and fighter and would like to know if locking my fps at 60 would be better then 100+ is this case
So what would be the benefits of going strength based? I would assume your stamina would be much better, but you wouldn't need to worry about stamina if its dead in half the ability casts, right?
Well most of the abilities are magic based..so going more magic is the best choice..but using the strength base abilities will work better like stone forrest
@@GiantSirSlayer I was just thinking hybrid as I usually like to play the game solo and the enemies that are pretty much immune to one type of damage suck. But you're right; more magic for the price of less physical is just overall better.
Love your stuff, you are hell of knowledgeable. Would you do me a help and break down/demonstrate the timing for controlled fall? I played competitive fighting games for years and am good at teching knockdowns, but I think I've managed to roll up maybe a dozen times in hundreds of hours of DD :I While I'm here I'd also love to see one of your heckin' around videos with a sword/bow only assassin.
Hmmmmmm, I think I hold the jump button, just before my body lands. A good way to practice is let Daimon grab you, and have healing items. You will need a health pool of 1500 or magic defense at 900 to practice that attack. Or when Eliminator is doing his multi swing attack spam, let his last swing hit you, that hit flies you back. Hold jump just before you land
Now I'm curious how a hybrid would compare. If it would be in the middle of pure str and pure mag, or if it would be even lower than both since it isn't committed one way or the other? Also with the great cannon test I wonder how much it would have changed if you placed the cannons close enough that the full moon slash would have hit too, since that way the str build could have benefitted from the full moon damage. Still probably wouldn't have even been close, but it's interesting. But yeah I guess with this combined with your Almost Immortal build from a couple days ago, pure magic seems to be a very strong winner.
i guess if r the type to prepare befor every fight Magic focus is for u, BTW in descreption it says Dark souls not DDDA :) funny easter egg if intended to put it there
a few things to keep in mind here. for great cannon a hybird build achieves the best overall results for an MK. as a pure magic mk is a glass cannon and will get hit for tons of dmg by any kind of phys move. since gc is 40/60 str/magic split dmg by default. full str mk was never a good idea to begin with. but a hybrid mk SHREDS trough enemy hp bars. just make sure magic is always about 20% higher than str. this way you not only become tanky you also deal tons of dmg with the great cannons which is the mks bread and butter move for bigger targets. plus keep in mind this enemy has way more phys defense than magic defense (980 phys defense vs 530 magic defense). hence why you should repeat the test with an enemy with equal resistences next to get really accurate results.
So, this video comes at the right time...i started today my 10th (i think.....maybe my 15th) run at Dragon's Dogma and guess what....i started a MK run....the first time i played the game as a MK (some years ago) i did a hybrid build using a Warrior until Lvl 50, a Sorcerer until Lvl 100 and a MK from Lvl 101 to Lvl 200 but, watching one of your videos about the MK, i realized that this Vocation is based entirely on magic So i was thinking to use a Sorcerer until Lvl 100, a Mage until i reach Level 9 Rank (just to get Attunement) and then switch to the Mystic Knight About weapons, i think it's better to use magic based Swords/Maces instead of Strenght based such as the Virge of Madness....am I right ?
Dude, what about Stone Jungle and Holy Retribution? Would be good to test these out aswell. I have a feeling Stone Jungle will be the only one that benefits from STR more
Pretty easy answer. What skills are you gonna use? If you're gonna be using the shield counters, sigil, and cannon then go full magic, they all scale off magic. Otherwise be a strong boi but IMO magic is better. MK's coolest abilities are all magic based. The STR skills are just copy pasted from fighter so just play fighter
Nice, I'm playing going to play Mystic knight and I'm a sorcerer now to get the level 9 augment. I'm guessing i should level up quite a bit as a sorcerer?
Well I think I’m still early enough in my play through to switch to a sorcerer and boost my magic by the end game. Won’t be as min-maxed as this but I should be able to get more magic than strength.
Great video. I'm having trouble blocking at the right time, should I play another class ? After beating daimon two times everything takes forever to kill
Question: Would a perma-enchanted weapon just generally be superior due to the additional Magick? Or only against enemies weak to the enchant's element?
That very much depends on the enemy and its defensive stats. Usually you're better off striking only on one attack type; physical or magic, this way the damage you deal is only hindered by one of the enemy's defence stats. But as you already guessed this varies wildly with elemental weaknesses and which of the enemy's defence is the weakest. That being said, if you use perma-enchanted weapons as soon as they're available, they're almost always stronger than whatever you would find in shops, and mage buffs do stack with perma-enchants for both more damage and elemental change. If a weapon has a lot more attack than another perma-enchanted, it's worth using, but probably not on everything.
Yep. I also like Strider to lv10, Ranger to lv100, Strider to lv200. That's my all around build for magic, strength or split. Or Assassin from lv100 to lv200 for a strength build. But Ranger 10to100 is an always preference for me.
The problem with the Max Magick build is how bad its Stamina Pool ends up being. This is largely unnoticeable on Mystic Knight, Mage, and Sorcerer in Normal Mode, but on Hard Mode or Magick Archer (and especially Magick Archer on Hard Mode) you can really feel the downsides of Max Magick.
Yep, Stamina is always my priority. Split builds are typically the best because a split "build" can play as any vocation. A pure strength can too, and a pure magic can too but you will have slack to fill in. The only stats that are not privided by weapons or gear are Stamina and Health. Savior rings can do it but you get a lot more flexibility with all vocations if stamina and/or health is priority, then weapons are attack and armor equates to health. So, Stamina, that's why I go for stamina
@@Nihil0.0 Completely agree. I always play exclusively on Hard Mode (that's just how I learned the game, so any other difficulty feels off) and do a max Stamina build with a slight focus on Strength (Assassin is my favorite Vocation), and I still commonly equip 1 or 2 Savior Rings because Barbed Nails is normally unnecessary for my playstyle and I don't really enjoy using Tier 3 Skills all that much.

The only question I have concerns the defenses of the Elder Ogre. Its Defense is 450 higher than its Magick Defense, which would equate to the Magick setup hitting harder right? Because every single Blunt / Slash damage component loses 20% and then 980, while every Dark Magick component lost 20% + 530, and the neutral Magick just lost 530

The problem with dragons are they have too many hitboxes for testing. Undead are great for testing, ogre is great because we can control the hitbox. Death is good for that equal defense but also he is terrible because he gets glitched in walls and wont stand still sometimes. But I will start to test death in the future. I kinda forgot about him
I wonder How long does it usually take for you to level your character, getting and upgrading the gear you need and getting the skills you want on average?

It takes about 5 min on PC when you edit stats/skills with the ‘hooks’ mod. Replacing your save file is also a thing as well.
I don’t think he manually levels up every character (though he has with some) with a certain stat combination he wants to try.
My MK has around 500 strenght and 370 magic, level 143. Is that good? I did several levels as sorcerer, assassin, fighter, ranger, and MK. I didnt count them tho. I dont know if I should do some more levels as a sorcerer, but I keep leveling up as Mk ill get magick to 400 I think.
Nah, you're fine. Weapons are the majority of our damage output
how do you do it to have a second character with 190 sorcerer levels instead of assassin?
Multiple save files. PC you can swap saves, and have as many as you want. I had 30 a few days ago, but deleted 20 of them
FIIIIIIIRSTTTTT!!!!:)
It's not called Physick Knight.
lmao
Been leveling my MK wrong for 6 years nuuu
There is no wrong way to level MK. Litteraly.
@@zeralmahib2549 i mean yeah but mine feels underwhelming compared to like an assassin with dps cuz i leveled as a MK so im tanky asf
Alguien sabe cuando sale dragons dogma 2
Hay rumores que dragons dogma 2 sale el año 2022
"el no ha estado annunciadito encor"
How does this compare to just leveling as MK?
I thought all this stuff was already known? Alot of the MK skills use 150% of your magick compared to 50% of your strength
So, how about a hybrid build?
So are the first 10 levels for these builds just Warrior?
Well with a health pool of 4200, Strength MK is the clear winner here
how about mage 10 and MK to 200? Should be in between im guessing
Yeah, a bout in the middle. Probably would remove 2 or 2.2 health bars
Use mage breaker on a high mk...not virge
Now im curious how its gonna look like if testing using perma enchant weapon instead
@@gammav9779 i assume you have seen my videos before but all of them are with mage breaker or curse bite or any elemental weapon..heck play in the red and and you have stats like sorcerer and with like 4500k magic attack with the shield lol
1:42 dab
any idea what the dmg numbers r if u lvl up like MK the whole time ?

@@Nihil0.0 thanks. never played Dragon's Dogma before, YT recommended me your videos, now im hooked to the game. awesome explanations. (^^,)
So should i go strength or magic?
You don't need to go either. I usually say a Split is ideal so you can switch to any vocation
What staff are you using to cast miasma?
Looks like high sopor with a rusted staff
Rusted Staff at 3 star+ gives Torpor and Poison, the spell is Sopor and it puts them to sleep.
Yeah, unbalanced MK for magic :/
