    I traveled to Canada to meed Dave from MiniWargaming, we spent a lot of time together, talking about our hobby, about how and why we like it, why we keep doing it. A slightly chaotic film production that turned into this film (a slightly chaotic film caused by the close proximity to chaos) - we share our thoughts on the different aspects of the wargaming hobby. Paint more minis, play more games.
    Please like and subscribe to @miniwargaming - this video is a collaboration, as much their video as mine. I just get to publish it. So please show them support.
    A great thank you to Dave for inviting me to MiniWargaming and into his home, for taking such great care of me while in Canada.

    Dave is so right, you two have perspectives that are perfect to be the voices in each other's heads.
    There need to be many more hobby collaboration vids and back and forth hobby consciousness, spraying thoughts and perspectives at each other vids. You interlock so differently and so perfectly.
    I realise it's a long way to go to make more content but there's split screen and this is what it was made for. Please consider making more, I know that editing this from the mass of footage took a long time, genius level concentration and was very hard work, but Alex, this is toweringly good creation, composition and editing, you made something that I don't believe can be matched by other thoughtful, clever creators and presenters.
    Your professional skills and talents are unmatched in the YT hobby universe, you need to set aside your natural humility and just sit and accept this because it's truth.
    Afterall those skills didn't just happen, you've mindfully worked hard on them for many years, it's your way.
    Thankyou for taking so much time to produce this vid, it's unmatched and such fun to watch and listen to, pure joy in YT form

    • @philgee486
      @philgee486 8 месяцев назад

      Well genuinely (unfaked for appearances sake) humility is also a natural trait I've come to recognise you have, hence my reference being in place ahead of your natural reaction Alex.
      I do hope you've come to value my considered opinions over the last couple of years tho, because the above is confidently assessed feedback and not for appearance sake either.
      You could also do immense good with advice and tuition in lighting, videography and production for some of the other content creators who would be open to it and who's work certainly deserves it.
      Now I'll stop embarrassing you Alex ;0)
      (Just you retain this is the considered feedback from a relatively bright guy (ok my posts don't always reflect that) who also thinks before speaking about others hard work)

    This is brilliant. The transition of let's play a wargame, battle report, "hassar" or today we are painting x with y and I'm going to show you z into documentary and almost sitcom is lovely. Great fourth wall, let's not take ourselves to seriously shtick! But what I most love is the two with depth archetypes represented meeting in commonality and difference; the painter versus the player.

    Our intrepid hero, aka "The Painter" meets the irresistible force, aka "The Player", and controlled chaos ensues. The subtitles helped, a bit. I will watch again to ponder the deeper meanings of life and beyond. This was a delightful viewing experience, especially to see whether the Painter or the Player would break character. But then, just what is the Player's character?

    For me wargaming (specifically warhammer) is a therapeutic event that happens either through media, painting, playing a game, or just chatting about it with other people. It has brought me out of some pretty dark places while I sit and paint - most of the time without anything playing or on in the background. It makes me sad sometimes that my friends don’t partake in any of it be ause it’s “too expensive” then when I buy multiple armies for them to even just play small games with me they shoot it down. It is a ‘me’ activity and even though I don’t get to share it with that many I’m happy and proud of what I do and the community I involve myself in. Cheers to you all and thank you❤

    I remember when I first came across the MWG channel on RUclips, and my initial reaction too it, and specifically Dave. As a typical Brit (very reserved 🤣) I found Dave to be a typically over exuberant and larger than life American, putting on an act for the cameras. It was just a bit too much for me. Firstly, apologies for thinking you were American 🤦🏼‍♂️ Secondly, I mistook your enthusiasm for the hobby as an act, which I’ve learned in the 5-6 years I’ve been following you, Matt, and the rest of the team, that this simply isn’t the case. Yes, you are a larger than life character, but it’s no act, it really is who you are! And I applaud you for that. It’s infectious, in a good way, so I apologise for making assumptions about you when I first saw your videos. I was very wrong, and I’m glad I stuck around to find that out. Keep being you Dave (Alex too, I love the way all your videos tell a story!), you’re a treasure amongst this hobby!
