One of my favorite scenes of the series.
Ma man Harald was my favorite. He changed sides so many times i didn't believe he will live more than 5 episodes. But there he is surpassing almost all of the Lothbroks :D
Out of all “Norsemen” in the show these 2 Finnish actors were the most convincing for me. Interested to hear what people from Scandinavian countries think. Cheers from Russia
I was flat with laughter after seeing Søren Pilmark playing the messenger (Stender) that informs Ragnar of the destruction of the English colony, Ragnar then kills him.
Søren Pilmark is most known for playing comedy parts and for being part of a comedic barbershop Quartet that sings dirty songs, make pervy sketches and on occasion run around more or less halfnaked on stage. Also in a couple of instances he has played a criminal in some hillarious action comedies.

King Harald and Ragnar are the most Viking-looking characters in the show. That's what I imagine a Viking to look like

One thing that breaks the realism is that the type of songs people would sing in this period, would be way longer, some of the surviving folk songs from this period would have 20-40 verses and tell long complicated stories. The song they sing here is a small poem made up by one of the sagas main characters when he was a small boy.
A cool thing would be if they had chosen one of the longer poems to sing and we on occasion would have heard different verses in the song over the show, maybe even have them singing the last verse just before their final confrontation. But i guess this was done so the audience would have easier recognising the song.

About to play this hype music every time I wake up
This was long before the Vikings show my son was born and part of his very long name is Dagen Ragnar and I sang a song much like this to him as a lullaby.
My son hated his name and was mocked throughly. I'd wipe away his tears and tell him one he would grow up to be a tall, strong, fighter, and the other boy's were just jealous. Odin was watching over him and all things take time to grow.
Now he's 17yr loves his name and is one hell of a power house fighting.
As a mother I couldn't be more proud.
