- On this episode Jay Meagher from real street completes a full teardown inspection of the 2JZ engine used in his 331MPH run. Last year Jay took on the Bonneville salt flats using an RS1600 2JZ in Brad Bosworth's "Valley Fever" streamliner. His goal was to join the elite 300MPH club, he did just that reaching top speeds of 331mph! Jay is widely known for his noteworthy accomplishments in tuning, engine building, and drag racing alongside his team at Real Street. This is a very cool moment as we watch and learn from jay dissecting the "aftermath" from running this 2JZ above 8500RPM for roughly a mile! Enjoy!

We can listen to Jay talk about 2JZ engines all day! Check out the Last episode: 331MPH with a Real Street 2JZ ruclips.net/video/FXaAd8XYSps/видео.html
Thé 6 cylinder numbers one numbers toue the 3L6 the e34 M5 bmw yeer love ir
We enjoy showing everyone on what really goes on with things like this. Deep teardown videos of high HP engines are always nice to show.🤘
If you traded one of your Supras for one of my pens, it would go viral 😅.
Classic
Only the gangsters keep it real and share the bad with the good. It's all part of it
I had no idea the 2J was only a 2 bolt main block. I mean, in 95% of cases this really makes no difference, but it an engine known for handling well into the 4 digits on HP, it's really impressive.
Humble, cool and a lot of knowledge!
Awesome guy and engine right there
Excellent video, love watching jay tear down stuff and analyze his own work. A true professional
Can watch it all day!
Dude converted his kitchen into an engine building laboratory. He's not goofing around.
Thank you for the incredible and detailed engine Teardown inspection. This is one area of expertise I always needed.
I interviewed jay before, class act. This was just great. Thanks for the knowledge as usual. Cheers
Mr. Jay is like a doctor on these it's amazing! Love seeing these!
👍
This is a great example of how we’re all still learning . Amazing .
Always learning!
Jay from Real St has forgotten more things about engines than I will ever learn in my life. Straight up knowledgeable guy.
The overrun is where the damage occurs as those experts said. It's the most damaging phase of high engine RPM operation typically in many automotive sport areas..
I love these kinds of videos, especially when jay does them! Thank you!
With each of these episodes I learn some valuable information each time when it comes time to have my engine built. Then finding a shop capable of providing me with a great finished product, this stuff gets very expensive for the average person. Thanks Jay for all you do brother!💯🙏👆🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁
No matter what you show people they will always be those types of folks that have something negative to say etc but the real ones know this is a amazing achievement for a non crate engine, stock block etc...
Excellent video and excellent explanation, greatly appreciate the knowledge that was shared
cool vid , all good info !!!
I like that you added the solution , we'll done !!!
Absolutely fantastic 💯so informative and great to watch 😀
All that can be said is wow!!!!! An amazing piece….
Congratulations! That is amazing @ 331 mph.
I could watch Jay working and explaining 2jz’s all day. The guy is a walking brain.
Very good video about what engines can tell you about how good they run when you disassemble them👍
I really enjoy your videos! Thanks for posting.
Thanks! A lot more content with real street is on the way. Also check out their YT channel for more cool videos!
Someone call Toyota & tell em get the 2jz back into production!
They won't sell much because people would still buy the LS. Also, aftermarket 2JZ blocks, heads, cranks, etc. are already available for people who are actually serious about pushing the 2JZ to the max.
@@sepg5084 aswell as you can still buy brand new head and shortblock from Toyota
Ever heard of cryo treatment and WPC coatings? I believe MotoIQ has a good article about that combo for longevity of reciprocating assembly and even the block.
Jay is the definition of a master.
this is like engine university, awesome thanks
That is ridiculously amazing!!!!
Insane right?!
Great informative teardown. Im really surprised with the lack of a Girdle between all the main caps.
Is the wear on the rod cap bearings right below the parting line because of angle of the rod when rotating around the crank? as seen 10:39
Good stuff! I learn something everyday!
This man is a wealth of knowledge!!
Very informative. Cool stuff. Could we do a transmission breakdown next ? 😅
Holy crap is right my friend this is truly amazing
Such a cool accomplishment
What an interesting video, thanks for sharing
Love the Dillon 650 in the background!
Failure analysis at its best! Thanks
Perhaps you could expand on what's going on on decell
Jay is the post mortem doctor. Kinda scary the knowledge he has but you know it's what makes him outstanding
Why is this highlighted?
Yoooo. That thing FUCKS!
💯
Love it great R and D work!
Well, the final was unexpected.... that kind of bearing wear to happen under decel... hmmm... Was it the same reason for the pin bore polishing/wear? Awesome stuff as always! Thank you, Jay!
you misunderstood, it's not on deceleration, it's high load, high boost at lower rpm caused by a wide ratio gear box shifting into a higher gear. Actual deceleration would be no load and no/low boost.
@@CP110 he literally said at the end it occurred on decel
@@codyblack3616 My bad I was refering to the metal to metal contact at the 12 o'clock position on the upper half of the rod bearing. Forgot about the delamination on the bottom half which was due to in gear high load on decel for a prolonged period of time. I would say if its on the Top part of the pin bore most likely due to high load lower rpm situation, if its on the lower part of the pin bore then its the in gear decel situation
Thank you for sharing
Any charnce you can show the bores and bore serface condition?
After that incredible run
Also would you agree that more aggressive tuning/timing would affect overall engine condition??
Not knowing much about high performance engines I have a question.
Rods have a bushing in the top for the wrist pin, why don’t pistons have brass bushings in them to help with that wear?
Also, with the neutral fix for the bottom bearing wear also a dress some of the pin wear? Or is that mostly a side effect of ignition timing, high cylinder pressures, or detonation?
Use Supra's Engine to make the New Record?!?! Well Done!!
What causes the pistons to rub in the sides like it rubbed on the black coating?
Jay you are the legend!
You can’t deny the fact that the jewel in the 2jz is the crankshaft!
Nicely done 👍
Jeeze, Jay... are you running some titration experiments in the back by the window there?
Has this channel ever done a video on how to read the sparkplugs?
If I wasn't already subscribed I would definitely subscribe after watching that.
"talk to me goose"
Another great video. 🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾
Im not sure but I think I’ve seen the decel neutral Strategie in dragracing before. Can someone tell me if it’s a common thing?
Any issue with coated bearings in an engine running on methanol or other corrosive fuels?
The 2jz fors mie is the numbers the motors 6 cylinder yeéeee love it
Talking about the RPM changes, is there a reason that additional gears in the transmission can’t be used to keep the RPM’s in the sweet spot?
Can aluminum connecting rods solving the bearing problem?
Where’s the last video you had it in tho was hoping it was in the description
Here you go! :-) 331MPH with a Real Street 2JZ ruclips.net/video/FXaAd8XYSps/видео.html
Learned that since Gran Turismo 1 over 20yrs ago
Saying the engine doesn’t have many miles, is like saying well I only spent 3 seconds walking on the surface of the Sun.
How do the cylinder walls look Jay???
Without context, could you imagine having to tear this down and then find that it basically looks better than new internally?
"Uh, why is this here?!"
*Immediately starts looking for hidden camera gags
What weight engine oil do you use?
could that be too big of bearing clearance? or not thick enough viscosity oil?
2Jz will always be the GOAT
Have you looked into using an 8HP70/75/90?
And a reloader! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
2jz will easily rev to 10,000 rpm = we had a great lpg gas powered 2jz in australia = 1600 hp dyno challange winner = 60,000 klm
has anybody ever experimented with drilling a tiny hole in the tip of the lobe into the cams oil passage so you get high pressure oil on the tip?
There are dry sump systems that spray oil directly on the cam lobes in conjunction through the cams
5:25, bros playing minecraft. look at that sun.... LOL! (I know its just the light reflton, but this is for the credit memes)
Nice Dillon press against the wall.
And what is your diagnosis on the wear on the piston skirt??
Ky deficiency
What oil do you run in that? Like damn!!!!
Probably Maxima racing oil
Mr. Jay 999IQ
Might just be me, "galley" kills me, plz stop. Aside that, great video!
The guy in the intro sounds like Austin Powers
Motorcycle road racing is my favorite
Lol step brothers that’s my fav movie 😂😂
😂
damn 1 gear and ahelp of neutral what a machine
How do you determine if the line in the rod bearing is from timing vs low rpm high load/boost situation?
This question is answered at 22:06 onwards
Insane
Curious of what oil you are running?
I'm surprised of the little wear from all the load on the bearings.
The clarksonism in action
facebook market place buyers would say:
"its not new ill give you 2000$ for it"
real st don't play by far the best shop for pretty much any build
They are an awesome team!
I want to run it out too How cool
I'd do the 6G72 next 🔥
I wish I had 1/4 of Jay's knowledge
We all need to soak it up!
He’s old, that’s normal
@@Dailyshart I'm old
More gears?
Where can I get that shirt
I love it trc and I love the video lot real true 👍
Awesome 👌
Time for a Liberty 7 speed for the next run same as in Speed Demon
DANGER TO MANIFOLD
Need some diesel love for rod cap walk
I wish toyota would of used the 2jz in more of their vehicles. It would of been great if the T100 came with 2jz instead of 3VZE.
You’ve clearly never watched a drift event 😂😂
How much HP
Now put the engine in a MC8-R chassis!
