- This is a follow up to my video on the Cavalier Class Line that expands the conversation from just the Cavaliers to any and all mounted units, who are also, confusingly, referred to as Cavalier-Type, but are not the Cavalier class, because why would the UI be straightforward?

Fogado easily carries himself to endgame with the Eirika ring. He has stellar speed, so handing him a brave and radiant bow is all he needs to get rolling, and he can switch between lunar and solar brace based on his needs. Eirika helps boost his magic too. Obviously Eirika is a pretty contested ring, but Fogado uses her really well, comparable to brave/levin sword griffin Chloé. I think that's the best Fogado can get, over warrior, but it does require taking a strong resource.
I also made Mauvier a bow knight for my first run (maddening). He was useful, I had him running Corrin for the draconic hex/dreadful aura snipes, which helped me play maps like 24 and 25 without any kind of skips. I do think his lacking speed honestly makes him worse than Fogado, but it was a fun build! Mauvier's hit rates were kinda bad though lol

It's really funny like 30 minutes after I posted this video someone commented on the old video about leonie and i was like "YES I KNOW I'M SORRY 😭😭😭"
Even tho I know he's considered 'bad' I will always use Bunet on my team. He always turns out great for me and that is without investment. He normally becomes one of my most tankest units in the team and have him up in the front. Maybe I'll reclass him to have some fun and he always does great. Recently I made him into a warrior and gave him Ike, he did wonders on the battlefield
I think it's really interesting seeing how the emblems provide cavalry different bonuses. I didn't love Byleth's +dex for cavs, but I still had him on Mauvier for a 6 move dance of the goddess. Corrin's water dragon vein was also pretty good. I think the only other bonus I can remember is the bonus damage on Ephraim's twin lance... I would be interested to see which sub-type of class is best for each emblem
I think Cavs have the best Sigurd bonuses, and arguably the best Roy bonuses, but I'm movement-pilled so thats probably expected from me haha
A Cavalry with Eirika (in my case Wolf Yunaka) can pretty much one-round any corrupted enemy, including Wyrms, even on maddening with a pretty low strength unit like I had.
I’d say out of the 3 primary bow users, Fogado stands out as the best of the 3. This is ofc with the caveat that all 3 of them go Warrior because that’s the bow class with the highest actual strength stat and for the three of em B Bows. This means that they can all use the bows that actually matter (Silver and Radiant) for most of the game. Fogado especially trades -2 magic from Cupido to Warrior for a staggering +6 str.
This is super gimmicky but once Celica comes back, inheriting Holy Stance to Fogado could actually put in some work. Everything from that point onwards is a corrupted and the skill is fairly inexpensive. It can stack with Back at You for even more counter damage. And if you run Eirika on him, you can use Eclipse Brace and Blue Skies to keep him alive.
I have yet to try it myself as I need to beat Celica's paralogue first so I can get the higher tiers of Holy Stance, but it sounds like it could work...on paper. 😂
Bunet's personal ability should've been a guaranteed re-use of the food, but it'll only proc once per map. That would've made his niche actually consistent while still keeping in with the idea of "Seconds".
The biggest problem with holy stance + back at you is it doesn't actually improve your survivability, and cupido is a class that doesn't have the kind of bulk (or weapon types) to effectively enemy phase without bonded shield support, and if you're getting bonded shielded holy stance does 0 damage. Eclipse brace/lunar brace also only works on player phase.
sending Anna into radiant bow over tomes seems a lot worse- you can plop her on mage knight and she becomes much better enemy phase (and gets more mag) due to tomes having 1-2 range. Fogado seems like a better option if you wanted strictly a radiant bow user, and doesn’t require keeping Anna on a class not super well suited for her over just leaning into her strengths in mag, dex, speed
With her personal magic growth of 50% anna will still have very good magic as a warrior or bow knight, and the Radiant Bow hits much harder than any tome, especially against flyers. 1-2 range is nice for enemy phase units, but anna is so squishy that she doesn't really benefit from 1-2 range.
it's precisely because she's so squishy and fast that she can be a great cav Bonded Shield EP sweeper. she just eats through whole portions of maps with that setup as a mage knight. granted, if that's not a tactic you enjoy using, then sure, having a magic bow PP nuke is nice, but I think that Anna is honestly overkill in that regard because the radiant bow carries itself with its insane mt
My man fogado is my go to archer in this game. While yes he doesn't have etie raw power or alcrysts Luna and get behind me combo, being able to hit both def and res makes him very versatile. Plus the radiant bow is so freaking strong, it covers up any lower magic stat. Plus between Lyn and eirika, he's got alot of emblem choices
The only use I've ever had for Bunet is to reclass him to wyvern knight if I don't have any solid fliers and have him serve as a tonic'd up bodyguard for Ivy in Chapter 13 against the swarm of fliers.
Ok Bunet might be a bad unit, but hear me out, he’s voiced by Ian Sinclair which makes his deployment 1000% worth it
my opinion on all these units
fogado:
physical fogado I think is actually the best or close to the best overall physical bow units. This is since his speed growth is ridiculous and given how important speed is thats already pretty huge. The main thing I dont really see people talk about when it comes to fogado is that he gets a ridiculous plus 6 str bonus if he switches to warrior which he absolutely should if your using him as a physical unit. This means he has a base str of 19 which compared to a lvl 3 promoted etie is just 1-2 points lower than average.
as for magical fogado once again he can leverage his high speed to his advantage although higher magic would honestly be preffered from someone like anna. still tho radiant bow packs a punch and that speed is still such a big selling point
Bunet:
look bunet is my favorite character in the whole game but my god is he underwhelming.
he feels like the worlds most watered down prepromote cav and to be honest he actually feels like a prepromote armor like douglas. hes very slow and not particularly strong. basically use him if you REALLY want like me
also sidenote in my first run i made him a a wolf knight with lyn ring dont do that obviously but it was very funny
Mauvier:
In my first run I put him into martial master and had quite a lot of fun with it.
I mostly view him like veyle as a lategame semi hybrid unit with A LOT of sp to throw around for fun skill builds.
Clanne:
the fast boy. slightly lacking in power but I would say that he definitely feels like a worse pandreo you need to train espescially if you have him as a sage. still overall I would say that if you really want a super fast mage then hes your best bet
Re Bunet: the reason he feels like a pre promoted armor is he actually is a pre-promoted armor not a pre-promoted cav. Cavs can't actually promote to great knight in this game, only armors can.

Still nice vid and I hope you do something like this but instead of units in specific classes it could be something like the early growth units.
This is gonna sounds kinda odd but fogado makes a better mage the clanne, now obviously he has to wait until magic prof but he can go sword griffin until then, if he has like 8-10 levels before he becomes a mk or Sage then he will have a 1 point spd and 1 point build lead over clanne along with the same magic and more hp. And by the end of the game it’s same leads except even more hp and 2- 3 more build over clanne and like 2 more magic. And merirn is just better then fogado so she counts 2 in that regard. I def like mage knight the most for all 3 of them tho, for one of the actual mages in this game tho that isn’t pandreo he’s def better then Celine (outside of her niches which are really just that, niches)
that is because the basses on his personnel class are god awfull pretty mutch every other class in the game is a direct upgrade for him
I tried using Bunet in my first playthrough and he turned out *bad*. He was filler for about 5 chapters before I gave up on him completely. He was weirdly squishy for an armour, having only slightly more def than my Diamant but so little spd that he just got doubled constantly (this was on random growths though). Also, a weird thing about Morb is that he is the only character to give just +10 hit for supports.
Yeah, I'm aware of the support glitch for Morb, though I don't think it's a huge deal TBH, the support bonus is in this game aren't super impactful, especially at the point he joins.

I really really like fogado, he’s pretty much objectively worse then merrin because his bases are lower and his growths have such a small lead on her that pretty much all his stats will be worse then her by about 1-2 points outside of the huge dex difference (merrin’s dex is crazy high) except spd which he ties with her by the end of the game assuming they are on level. But having a worse merrin around is still great.
I would def vote warrior for him if you plan on taking him the whole game. cupido can go to endgame if you give him erikia becuase Brave bow with lunar Brave does 60 damage without any forging to armors. And with erikia he hits thresholds for ohkoing fliers with a swap to Ephriam though wariror can do this to with a bit more effort. But I still think warrior is better for him. He has a fantastic spd stat and growth and warrior really patches up his str thanks to its great base and growth. And honestly there just isn’t a use for phys bows when the resident is so cracked.
Phys bows technically kill griffins easier due to lower def but that’s not really the case. Griffins have 4 less def then res so if the radiant bow even only has a 2 mt lead (which it will) it will have more more natural power then silver or the s rank. The s rank is pretty worthless in that regard since it requires you to be in elite or sniper which has less str then warrior and the silver has a 5 mt (so 15 vs fliers) difference form the radiant bow when max forged, and it’s way less resource intensive then either silver costs like 10 silver while radiant costs like 3 along with costing 15 more steel and double the price to plus 5 so it’s way more expensive to just make the silver bow anywhere near its max potential, It’s just a cracked weapon that’s really good on the economy it’s just cheaper to take 2 radiant bows to plus 5 then 1 silver bow. I think he makes a good case for taking erikia since he uses all she offers quite well, sword girffin into mage knight is pretty good too. like merrin he does any class and uses any emblem well. I really think he’s the best non eliusa royal. He’s really quite strong. I would put him in A tier personally
Bunet is bad, however I do find he has a pretty funny niche in that when you have free deployment slots he can be a really cheap and easy repo botting that can do chip from time to time ( free deployment examples being ch 14 and 15, maybe 16). So he has some use for me personally. His bases are just awful sadly.
I really like mauv, he can either go down griffin for b rank staves, more spd for his otherwise great stats as you said or bow knight, bow knight mauv exists to cut down fliers with the radiant bow but he doesn’t need very much help with it so he’s pretty cheap in that regard which is super nice if your lacking an anti flier answer or want another which I will always take. And he does it for very cheap investment and a new deployment slot opens for him anyway so might as well use and invest in him.
Sniper mauv with lyn is cool, I’ve seen some pics of someone doing pretty much the same thing with citrinne in an ltc. I think she’s probably better cut out for the role since she’s around longer (I like taking them both to endgame tbh) but yeah it’s pretty cool. I like lyn elsewhere but one can’t deny how effective it is when that radiant bow astra storm deletes a bosses hp bar. I also don’t like playing those late game maps honestly either lol. Ch 25 had to be made to rewarp skip with how that enemy formation was set up.
Clanne bad
Ok IF you raised him that spd is pretty baller tbh but his power is rough tho he can kinda make up for that by using bolg with how much spd he has to try and make up for his power. but he just doesn’t really make sense to use. Phys clanne is decent but he honestly just turns out like lapis (seriously they are super close for some reason, they even have the same magic) who is cheaper to use.

Yeah I should have clarified when talking about sniper mauv it's basically just because it's free, though you're right that someone like citrine or pandreo would be better if you want a radiant bow sniper long term, but I like putting mauv into radiant bow sniper with Lynn so that I can keep doing funni dire thunder things with citirne.

I do love my citrinne nuking with dire thunder or taking byleth or corrin or doing one of the cool niche things like bow knight for dedicated anti flier without taking an emblem and now sniper lyn is on my list of things to try (along with merrin lyn for funny super avoid clones thanks to her personal stacking on all of them).
Mauv can do anything he wants for super cheap so I get it. Plus lyn does help his spd issues without taking up skill slots, I might need to give this a shot soon
