Hi, cheap, how are you? This is just a Brazilian speaking to you, looking for content that doesn't exist in Brazil. Help me, please. Can I composite es35 with es15? 🤔
Thanks! - I've been been going in circles for years- spending days, adding speakers to my cart, checking reviews, removing from cart, giving up and waiting for a few months, then repeating the cycle. I'm upgrading from a $200 soundbar, I'm sure even the cheapest speakers would be an improvement, but everything I looked at was enough of an investment to lock me into analysis paralysis. Your review finally got me to drop the bundle into my cart and click 'check out' - so thanks for ending my misery. Now I get to look forward to a real home theater setup!
Haha wow, love that! "Analysis paralysis" thats my new favorite phrase. That's definitely me when shopping around for stuff like this (or stuff for my car)
@nomad122 Bro, I'm not even into dedicated sound systems about a week ago. I just have a $200 Sony soundabr with sub. But I recently imported some CDs from Japan and was looking for an affordable cd player with speakers (Sharp XL-BH250). Now I'm looking into spending damn near $2K into an Onkyo system just to listen to CD music 😅 I was like, "If I'm gonna be spending ~$250, then I might as well go all the way."
FYI: On that subwoofer, the low pass filter knob is inoperable when using the LFE input. The Low Pass Filter is only for when you are using the summed L/R channels for your signal.
In general this is a good thing, I've got a small Dali sub that does the same (C-8 D). It allows you to hook up a HT receiver and a 2-channel system to the same sub if they're in the same room, such as mine.
Great review, I've got a complete RTI system in my basement short of a sub, and like you I feel like they do great with movies. But with music they lack in some areas. Keep up the hard work and honest reviews, the channel is awesome.
Wow great review! I just bought the ES50's and ES35 before seeing this review, and I love them really love your idea of mounting the ES15's (wow they look much bigger than I thought) on a tv mount arm. I want to replace my existing rear surrounds with the ES15's - I love the aesthetics of the ES series, the ES35 just looks gorgeous and sounds the goods too!
NIce review as always! I had the S60's first a bit bright to me, so I skipped these (ES Line) and got the R700's. I'm with you on Polk stepping up their game, the new Reserve is something special.
I was also looking at the Polk r700s. Do you know how wide the cabinet is on that model? I know it says their almost 13 inches wide with the outrigger feet but I only want to know how wide the cabinet is.
Loving my Polk ES20s in my secondary system with an almost unnecessary 10 inch sub. Powered with a yard sale purchased Onkyo 150 watt 510 amp and Onkyo 310 preamp. Keep up the great work Randy.
Hi Randy, I stumbled upon your channel the other day and I’ve gotta say I’ve watched probably like 30 of your videos so far and I really like the way you present your content! I’ve always been into audio but recently found my self wanting to really learn more of the finer details when it comes to refined audio and HT so pretty much I’m a noob here. In multiple of your videos I’ve heard you reference certain terms that I’m just not familiar with and was wondering if maybe you could put together a video explaining some of these terms and show casing some of the hardware associated with it and how it all works, like Dacs, pre amps, bi amping and bi wiring. How to use a high pass filter and how to determine you actually need one and where would it go? I hope you see this comment and I hope to really see a video breaking down all this stuff for noobs like my self thank you!
I'm running S20 and S35 mains. S10 rears and RC60i in the ceiling. Got a HTS12 to handle the bass duties. System works like a charm. On the S35 I find the bass to be super sloppy so I cross them at 100Hz... Cleans up everything. S20s are beasts S10s can legit be used as fronts in a small room. Overall great system.
Thanks for your review. I mounted mine using Velcro. I got the Polk S20's and they're really big but the Velcro is working great, they've never fallen off, LOL
I find, that the ES 35 Center sounds CLEAR, but it sounds like a TIN CAN! For Music and for cinema. I tested it at the same time with the the Canton gle center, the Audio Monitor Bronce Center, the Heco AuroraCenter ,and the Magnat Signature 5 Center. They All Sound warmer, More lively and, Not like a Tincan. I have Polk Audio LSiM709 cherry bookshelf speakers powered by an Dayton AudioHTA100BT tube amp accompanied by an SVS 12" pro 2000 sub woofer hooked up to my computer. I absolutely love how it sounds in my little computer room.
I got the ES20 front and ES35 center and some old sony for rear which I think will change to ES10s. ES15 are just too big for the rear wall. Running with a Yamaha RXA1080 and it sounds great for a mid sized room. I had space issues for a large center so S35 sounded the best for the size. Great review!
Where do the RTi series fit in with the new Polk line up? I have a newly built theater room built around the RTi line and now have a little bit of regret I didn’t go with the Reserves despite a lack of dipole speakers in the line up.
I just got the Vsx 305. … how do I turn on and turn off Dirac. I’ve DL the pioneer control phone app and did the full calibration. I just don’t know how to switch Dirac on and off to compare.
I’m currently running s35 center, s15 fronts and s10 rears. I went with them based on the size and looks. Learning of the es series, is their any notable difference in switching some components to es?
Not really. I'm running S55's with the S35 centre and an HTS12 sub with S20e as surrounds. I've tried the S20e's as fronts in a two channel stereo setup, and couldn't really notice any audible difference from the Signatures Series 55's. I don't think there will be that much of a difference with the es series either. I've heard that they are on the warm side of neutral. The twitter on the Signature series is at around 2.5khz while it's 2khz on the es series. So some of the top end will bleed into the midrange, which is said to make the midrange a little leaner. But there isn't much difference elsewhere. Although they say the bass extension is a little tighter on the es series. I'm happy with my Signature Series. Thus it won't make sense for me to chase such subtle differences.
@@Lalosalamanca1122 S20’s have unbelievable bass extension for their size, even without a sub, but with a sub they sound better with incredible imaging. However, the S55’s at full range coupled with the bigger cabinets sound much better! with a subwoofer… they become killer!!!🔥 But they are much bigger and will take up a bit of space.
Do these sound better than the Rti series? I have a pair of Polk Rti10s but was looking at the ES50 55 or 60s to get a more modern look in my living room. Thanks!
I want to use the ES15's as my front speakers. I have limited room (8 inches) from the top of my cabinet to the bottom of my TV. Can the ES15's be laid on their side? If so should they be woofers outside or inside?
Would you recommend this over the ES30? Also any opinion on mixing the ES35 with either the Emotiva B1 or the SVS Primes? Or should I stick to the same speaker family?
@@cheapaudioman you deserve it , I will continue to help ! Congratulations on achieving your goal, your fun to watch and provide great reviews , thanks Randy fro Kent and Risat
I recently returned the pair of ES50s I bought. I tried to give them a fair chance, but they physically hurt my ears. I tried 2 different brands of receivers. I don't even listen at high volume, this is just from a couple hours of listening to dialogue on RUclips at normal volume. I've never had a speaker system cause ear pain like this before. It's very bizarre.
awesome review! love the way you pointed out the sub issues. great advice to spend your 400 on something else like the emotiva or svs sb1000. also, do they still make the T15 bookshelf stands???? haha!!!!
Sadly, most of your recommendations are not available in Europe. Some products should be available on paper but are always sold out. But Polk has generally good availability here, they work together with Amazon and have most products constantly in stock, they are even doing a couple deals each year. So that's great.
loved this vid i always liked the polk audio lines wasnt crazy about the t15s liked the price but i went with the t20e for bookshelf speakers prob simular to the t15 lol thanks my friend for doing this...
Can the S35 be used as LCRs for a 120" screen? I'm looking for on-walls that are low profile that won't distract when watching movies (currently have RTiA9 and CSiA6 which are underutilized anyway and are in-your-face big).
Ive read more than a few reviews of people using the Polk ES/S35's as an LCR set up.. -(I can use myself as a LCR/C.L.R;)- And the written reviews all seem to be VERY happy using that set up w/a dedicated subwoofer for the lower end... Takes up ALOT less space thats for sure! ~Take care...;)
Any comment or concern with off-axis listening using that center? All sorts of chatter about “MTM” style speakers (or in this case “MMMTMMM”) causing problems.
It's bullshit, just made pads. Speaker shoud look same place where head is. It's best small high center. I have es55 on front and es35c on center. It's very good on 20 m2 size room. And don't look stupid on small rooms.
Moved to a smaller place and now I have my Pioneer BS22 as my mains in my bedroom, the Polk S55 are back in the box, debating on taking them out but may be overkill for the size of the room
I run a ES15 LR, SS, RS and ES30 centre, really love em, though I do find my AVR (Denon X 1600) lacks the power to really wake them up. Would it be wise to run a all ES 60 tower home theatre setup? To get true full range or atleast close for all channels. Would like to know what you think, would like to see a video about it too, if you could cover this topic, haven't see others cover it. Cheers. Good video.
This stuff confuses me so much my problem is I don't have a good center speaker and my two front right and left or like a '90s model Sony 10 inch floor model speaker I thought about getting rid of the 10-inch ones and putting bookshelf speakers because my amplifier is only a 100 w 60 left and right 50 for the center and 20 suround sound I'm disabled and I have no way to buy anything I'm on able to play with what people give me so the options are kind of slim but is there anything you could suggest
I think he would suggest to do Eq. He had a video about it I watched and that is all free stuff that you can learn to play with that some people feel is fun to fine tune to your preference. Others might suggest spealer positioning near or very far from walls as it effects bass/muddyness, also move the center in different positions up and down and distance to you as I think they measure how different speakers have loss of frequencies at certain distances. I think some old cheap avr's can be used as amps. Maybe put the highest watts to the center. On dolby mixes some avr's have an option I think called center spread that sends additional sounds from the center to the L/R mains to provide a larger center sound, I've tried it and it works.
I have three of the ES20s for LCR and cross them over at 60Hz. I'd like to cross them at 50Hz, but my Marantz receiver only allows 60Hz or 40Hz. Maybe I'll try them at 40Hz. Also running two RSL Speedwoofers and Fluance Signature surrounds on the wall. Sounds awesome to me and having identical speakers up front produces a seamless wall of sound which I've never been able to produce with a dedicated center speaker. I've found that using a bookshelf speaker produces higher quality off axis sound so viewers not sitting directly in front of the center speaker hear dialogue better. At least that's been my experience in comparison to a dedicated center channel speaker. Of course, I had to buy two pairs of the ES20s to get three of them up front, so I have a spare just in case.
hi I have up graded to the Denon 4800h and I am thinking for and I was thinking of Polk Signature Elite ES60 Tower Speaker and the Polk Audio HTS 12 Powered Subwoofer and SVS prime center would this be a mistake Im 50/50 music and movies
@darkmanlord9265 I have the ES60, ES30, ES10 and HTS12 running on a Anthem MRX 1140. The sound is just pure joy, both movies and music. Go with the ES30 over the ES35 if you're going for Polk Center.
I have a couple of question for all of you sound lovers. If I have a pair of good active speakers, would an external dac/am would mess with the speakers, should I get just a DAC no amp? What do you recomend to improve sound if I have active speaker but no dac? I listened CDs and some wav files on my computer.
@@Pete.across.the.street I have Eris Presonus 4.5, use the 3.5mmm jack out of the laptop to the rca in of the speakers, my laptop has an optical out, so I am looking to improve the sound with an external dac, I was wondering if a Dac/Amp would be too much or just innecesary, or maybe a small dac (altough Ive read the cheap ones are bad)
I have their old s55s towers bi-amped, they absolutely sing. Give them power and they will sound great. ELAC Debut 10 on the bass. Do I want the L600s, oh yes, IF I COULD FIND A PLACE TO LISTEN to them, I will buy if I like... But I digress, what I have now sounds great.
I cant say it any other way. The Polk sub is trash for $400. 100 watts rms and cheap parts. Spend $49 more and get the RSL Speedwoofer 10S mkii that has a 400 watt RMS 1020 watt peak amp. 10" aluminum driver with cast basket. 40lbs. Actually plays down to 20hz! It's been measured by Audioholics and others. Randy, you really should review one. Your viewers will thank you! As of now they are on backorder but more are coming in. Free shipping, 30 day trial.
I was looking at that sub when It was on sale, I ended up going for the bic f12 for a budget sub. Im glad I did. Too many negative reviews especially for the cost
For the love of Jesus you need to look into the Peachtree nova 300. It’s the best of the best and less than $2,000. What is your “Cheap” threshold anyways?
@@cheapaudioman If I end up buying it, I’ll send it to you first to review for the betterment of the community out there. Just don’t forget to send it back to me😃
I can vouch that the Nova 300 is a great integrated. I was begrudgingly in agreement with Randy that my KEF LS50s might be the snowflakes he claims they are…until I paired them with the Nova 300. It turned the LS50s into a joy to listen to!
My big home system contains S50E, S35E, S15E and a HTS10 ... I remind a review that stated that the Signature E(uropean) models are not only optical ( same black cones ) pretty similar to the Elites ... and all that you say sounds like that too.
The HTS I managed to blend in nicely for music ... and it still works out for movies. I anyway don't like watching movies and shake the whole house down like some people do ...
Better off getting the JBL Studio series speakers that are on crazy discount. The tweeter and bass drivers will out perform this Polks. You can start with the 580's. $600 for the pair.
@@cheapaudioman That's why I said....the 580's and up. The larger cabinet...larger and more drivers....does the job. Plenty of spunk top to bottom. The 530's are great for near field or surrounds.
You love the multiple drivers? Seriously???...that center speaker...what a disaster..the clueless marketing design of hey...more drivers look cooler...so lets put a lot of them...lobing issues be damned!
I def appreciate your $$ invested, TIME, expertise & HONEST reviews unaffected by flashy corp marketing WANK! Funny Story: Id just recently purchased a pair of Polk S60 mains, not knowing anything about Bi-Wired speakers, but aware of speaker break-in time, I'd wired up the Polks, set the pairs of terminal jumpers aside & was so SAD when hearing the sound quality compared to my JAMO 809's-(Your previous review swayed the JAMO purchase-THANK YOU;-HIGHLY recommended)- -They sounded SO POOR in comparison to the $400 JAMO 809's, so the JAMOS got swapped back & the $1,000 Polks relegated to the speaker room of diminishing returns as rather stylish & large weights to keep the carpet from floating away..;) Few weeks later I'd decided to buy a set of WBC bi-wire jumpers & give the Polks a re-go-(VERY WELL MADE, in Japan IIRC?-$24)- I RE-wired up the Polk S60's as mains w/the WBC jumpers & was absolutely AMAZED @ the sound quality!!!-(Yes, I'd read the instructions packed w/the Polks when unboxing, but they were VERY vague as to the Bi-wire process)- -Now Im extremely HAPPY with the Polks, the JAMO's got moved to rear stations & just today I'd just purchased a Polk S35 Center Channel for $150 @ Polk Audio closeout, which not long ago they'd retail for close to $300-$350ish!. Excited to see what it'll sound like! -Currently have a "BIC America/Acoustech FH6-LCR Formula Series" as my center-(GREAT speaker so far)-But would like something slimmer/smaller, so the Polk S35 fits those requirements.... One question I'd like to ask: WHY did Polk decide to RETIRE the S60 line-up all together? -Weird being how it was just rather recently introduced & hadnt seen a longer, multi-year production run? So consumers would "up-grade" & buy the Polk ES line instead?....
I've heard stories about certain sections of EU having complained about the whole Signature Series line up being a little bright for their liking. Hence the introduction of the SE & ES models (Europe). And they are said to be on the warmer side of neutral.

I'm not sure what happened to my comment, so I will re-write it. I am so glad to finally hear you say that you love these. I heard your earlier review of the S15s and you didn't think they were that remarkable. However, you seem to really like the ES15s and especially that ES35 center channel. I have the ES20s (rear stage), ES60s (front stage), ES35 (center), and two of the newer HTS10 subs (left and right). I am a little surprised by what you said about the sub. Mine (presuming it is different than yours?) is rated 200W and goes down to 25 Hz. Again, glad that my choice seems to have been well received by you. Kudos for another great review!

@@cheapaudioman you deserve it , I will continue to help ! Congratulations on achieving your goal, your fun to watch and provide great reviews , thanks Randy fro Kent and Risat
Kent and Rosa. Lol 😂
What if I use E20 for front and ES10 for rear?
awesome review! love the way you pointed out the sub issues. great advice to spend your 400 on something else like the emotiva or svs sb1000. also, do they still make the T15 bookshelf stands???? haha!!!!
Sometimes I wonder where that kind of base comes from with such small woffers I have something similar of those towers
My room is very small 8 square meters but i want a 5.1 with Polk loudspeaker 4×ES 10, ES 35 and HTS 10 is that possible in my room?
I owned the S35 for a brief while. Found it to be extremely hollow and not up to the job. Is this new slim line center better?
Sadly, most of your recommendations are not available in Europe. Some products should be available on paper but are always sold out. But Polk has generally good availability here, they work together with Amazon and have most products constantly in stock, they are even doing a couple deals each year. So that's great.
loved this vid i always liked the polk audio lines wasnt crazy about the t15s liked the price but i went with the t20e for bookshelf speakers prob simular to the t15 lol thanks my friend for doing this...
of course. The new XT speakers are pretty solid
The 12 in version of that sub is actually way better
Can the S35 be used as LCRs for a 120" screen? I'm looking for on-walls that are low profile that won't distract when watching movies (currently have RTiA9 and CSiA6 which are underutilized anyway and are in-your-face big).
Ive read more than a few reviews of people using the Polk ES/S35's as an LCR set up..
-(I can use myself as a LCR/C.L.R;)-
And the written reviews all seem to be VERY happy using that set up w/a dedicated subwoofer for the lower end... Takes up ALOT less space thats for sure!
~Take care...;)
Is the elite es35 center speaker better than the polk cs400i?
Thanks for dimensions, I’ve been trying to figure them out. 24x4.5x6
I just ordered ES20s for my folks as stereo fronts for TV and music, sounds like overkill :P
Moved to a smaller place and now I have my
Pioneer BS22 as my mains in my bedroom, the Polk S55 are back in the box, debating on taking them out but may be overkill for the size of the room
Room size?

I run a ES15 LR, SS, RS and ES30 centre, really love em, though I do find my AVR (Denon X 1600) lacks the power to really wake them up. Would it be wise to run a all ES 60 tower home theatre setup? To get true full range or atleast close for all channels. Would like to know what you think, would like to see a video about it too, if you could cover this topic, haven't see others cover it. Cheers. Good video.
suggest me a good surround speakers
I wonder what is a better tower , the polk audio es60 or the klipsch rp800f since they are about the same price currently .
The Klipsch are selling for about $1000, while the Polk are around $600. Pretty big gap
Good stuff man. Appreciate the feedback.
hi I have up graded to the Denon 4800h and I am thinking for and I was thinking of Polk Signature Elite ES60 Tower Speaker and the Polk Audio HTS 12 Powered Subwoofer and SVS prime center
would this be a mistake Im 50/50 music and movies
@darkmanlord9265 I have the ES60, ES30, ES10 and HTS12 running on a Anthem MRX 1140. The sound is just pure joy, both movies and music. Go with the ES30 over the ES35 if you're going for Polk Center.
I have a couple of question for all of you sound lovers. If I have a pair of good active speakers, would an external dac/am would mess with the speakers, should I get just a DAC no amp? What do you recomend to improve sound if I have active speaker but no dac? I listened CDs and some wav files on my computer.
@@Pete.across.the.street would my actice speakers be damaged if I use another amp on them ?
@@Pete.across.the.street I have Eris Presonus 4.5, use the 3.5mmm jack out of the laptop to the rca in of the speakers, my laptop has an optical out, so I am looking to improve the sound with an external dac, I was wondering if a Dac/Amp would be too much or just innecesary, or maybe a small dac (altough Ive read the cheap ones are bad)
@@Pete.across.the.street thank you a lot man
How about the Yamo concert series compared?
I used to have Polk S50 towers which did have good bass. Once I heard the difference in detail and clarity vs Elac B62, I sold the polks.
Car audio subs are better to use for home audio.
I have the Polk Audio RT 5 for height speakers and they work well with my niles amp on my 11.2 denon 4311ci system.
Can you review the JBL 570/580/590 towers
The 10s are designed to be used as surrounds.
Yoooo, Coke Zero is dope. I can’t stand drinking soda out of mugs, has to be glass.
why does my es35 sound too low? I m using a denon s760h
Do you have the es 35 on top of your entertainment stand?
Sir I am from nepal but not available polk product in our country.
Good stuff as usual. Cheers
Thank you! Cheers!
I do like the pioneer speakers
Pyle is good my dad has one and uses older speakers for it
I have the polk psw1118'' subwoofer for my bedroom desktop/pc audio. I think it sounds good but I really don't have alot to compare it to.
Hardest working man on RUclips....on a Sunday no less!
For the love of Jesus you need to look into the Peachtree nova 300. It’s the best of the best and less than $2,000. What is your “Cheap” threshold anyways?
Send me one, Robert. Threshold moves around a bit depending on the product
@@cheapaudioman If I end up buying it, I’ll send it to you first to review for the betterment of the community out there. Just don’t forget to send it back to me😃
@@ThatAnalogDigital I really enjoy the warm sound of Marantz. Sounds like I better double think my decision of Peachtree.
I can vouch that the Nova 300 is a great integrated. I was begrudgingly in agreement with Randy that my KEF LS50s might be the snowflakes he claims they are…until I paired them with the Nova 300. It turned the LS50s into a joy to listen to!
@@ThatAnalogDigital what speakers did you use?
unfortunately On my 2nd system, I have the T15.
Gettin' all up in your magnetic grilles...
6 driver center? Its official the people runing Polk have ABSOLUTELY NO CLUE how sound works.
What is the difference between Polk Audio S50E and Polk Audio Signature Elite SE50?
I wish "InexpensiveAudioMan" was as easy to say. "Cheap" can have a negative connotation. But I get where you're coming from. :)
wish polk send me one of these for a review

Nice!
Better off getting the JBL Studio series speakers that are on crazy discount. The tweeter and bass drivers will out perform this Polks. You can start with the 580's. $600 for the pair.
I thought the studios were thin sounding. At least the 530’s. Harsh in the midrange
Funny Story: Id just recently purchased a pair of Polk S60 mains, not knowing anything about Bi-Wired speakers, but aware of speaker break-in time, I'd wired up the Polks, set the pairs of terminal jumpers aside & was so SAD when hearing the sound quality compared to my JAMO 809's-(Your previous review swayed the JAMO purchase-THANK YOU;-HIGHLY recommended)-
-They sounded SO POOR in comparison to the $400 JAMO 809's, so the JAMOS got swapped back & the $1,000 Polks relegated to the speaker room of diminishing returns as rather stylish & large weights to keep the carpet from floating away..;)
Few weeks later I'd decided to buy a set of WBC bi-wire jumpers & give the Polks a re-go-(VERY WELL MADE, in Japan IIRC?-$24)- I RE-wired up the Polk S60's as mains w/the WBC jumpers & was absolutely AMAZED @ the sound quality!!!-(Yes, I'd read the instructions packed w/the Polks when unboxing, but they were VERY vague as to the Bi-wire process)-
-Now Im extremely HAPPY with the Polks, the JAMO's got moved to rear stations & just today I'd just purchased a Polk S35 Center Channel for $150 @ Polk Audio closeout, which not long ago they'd retail for close to $300-$350ish!.
Hi, cheap, how are you? This is just a Brazilian speaking to you, looking for content that doesn't exist in Brazil. Help me, please. Can I composite es35 with es15? 🤔
Thanks!
You bet!
Thanks!
