Since I started listening to Alan and reading his books, my life has got so much better. Externaly, it didn't change much, but internaly, it's as if I was in another universe. My mindset has completely changed. As a result, even listening to his voice is calming and reassuring. Many criticize him and even despise him for the way he lived his last years, but I can't help but admire the sincerity by which he lived until the end.

My god 😳 I was recently in hospital looking out of the 7 floor window in my room it was massive, over a period of time I thought “ most don’t even no”” they go about their business oblivious, that if everyone played their part WE could help heal and save our planet 🌎 then cried my eyes out !!
Alan watts explains this incredibly and empathetically, and insightfully etc .
Love from another watts ❤feeling just so proud of him.

As someone studying philosophy there are two things I would point out here:
    1) The humunclulous fallacy:
That we are a small being trapped in a body that observes the body’s functions is an illusion…Search up the proof regarding this problem.
    2) That consciousness is emergent - it may be the other way around in which case we are all instances of relativity dependent on a state akin to the aspects of consciousness inaccessible to description and essential for existence.

@@pouya.3 to start with... Think of what u r made of... a variety of cells which include the neurons that are the basis for your consciousness and your thoughts. Now go one level deeper... You will find molecules.. One more level deeper u will find atoms... One more level deeper nd you will find electrons protons Nd neutrons Nd other subatomic particles(though they are jst some names given by us to the properties of space)... So eventually u will realize that everything is made up of the same fundamental entity - The Space.
Now if you think about it you will realize that we have sprouted into existence just because of the of the entropy of the space. Because of this entropy hydrogen atoms collided to form helium, lithium Nd other elements including carbon... Because of this entropy the carbon atoms formed molecules such as RNA that are the basis of the life as we call it... Because of this entropy... unicellular organisms evolved into multicellular.... Nd further evolution of multicellular organisms took place which resulted into development of complex organs such as brain and which eventually lead to a human which is currently the pinnacle of this process.
So you are nothing but entropy applied to the space. So it isn't wrong to say that you are the universe trying to understand itself.
Or in terms of Allan Watts you are a symptom of the state of universe as a whole.

Self-inquiry, self-exploration of what the thinking structure offers, is nothing but a warty outgrowth of a vastly blown up idea of 'identity'.
It is worthless. Serving one purpose only, as to determine ones own position within the coordinates of human society.
    Don't talk of universe 🌌.
The triangulation 📐has to start somewhere and points are either arbitrarily fixed or agreed upon in the very beginning by logic and so called reason.
Identity is a game of ego playing with and for itself.
The most intriguing question is :
Why isn't the universe just still ..
Why is it vibrating and forming stars...
There never will be an answer and by that u can see, another play of a helpless identity.
    Thanks Mr.Watts

'An unexamined life is not worth living' - Socrates
It is more than determining ones place in human society. It is understanding why you react to some things in a positive manner and negatively to others. It is investigating the whys of your personality development.
To answer your question 'Why isnt the universe just still.."
Movement initiates time. As we see things go from one place to another or grow or deteriorate it gives us a sense of perspective relative to the experience of what we are watching. Without movement we wouldn't be able to perceive our experience from one moment to the next. There would be no need for the brain to evaluate our surroundings and make sense of this experience as it would always be the same whether it lasted one second or a thousand years. We would have no reason to ponder or compare or create distinctions because everything would be exactly the same from one moment to the next. The fact that the Universe in one form or another is always changing makes life worth experiencing with its challenges to overcome, mysteries to contemplate and the endless array of interactions we see in the natural world to ponder.

    • @farrider3339
      @farrider3339 8 месяцев назад

@@elonever.2.071 thanks for spending time on my words.
Twas, as u can figure out, a rhetorical question about stillness in the universe (meaning ALL this).
Movement - True, flux, whatever we want ro call it.
      Panta rhei - all flows(moves).
Socrates certainly was onto something. Albeit we have to think further and extinguish meaning from the equation. Curiosity and Why, are seemingly genetically disposed and selected by, maybe evolutionary processes. Yet we fail to realize the time span in which it is moving. Super slomo still is too fast compared to human lifespan. And conditions have changed. We've ARRIVED where cave man dreamt to be. We don't see it. Continue the hunt and by that totally fugg it up. Overeffiency. Biosphere also flows and reacts to circumstances changed. Rapidly. All computer models failed. Hahaha, what wonder. Who programmed these ?
The worst thing asked from a current contemporary citizen is not to give his life for a doctrine, but to reduce himself to an acceptable level for all mankind. Nobody wants to be queued. All fear being too far behind.
*A snowflake, never will feel responsible for the avalanche*

Dear, dear Alan Watts. The yogis of ancient India embarked on an investigation into the nature of self 3000 years ago. Please try to catch up. They developed incredible practices and tools of concentration (called meditation) to go deep into the mind (not the brain) to find the self. They found an Atman or a soul and ended their investigation. Then the person Siddhartha Gautama, using the techniques developed by those amazing yogis embarked on his investigation into the nature of self and did come to the point of the Atman but realized that there was an even more subtle mind and took his investigation into the subtlest mind where he found that the source of all our suffering is the ego. He was able to cut the root of the ego (or what we refer to as a self) and attain Buddhahood - the clear light mind, a potential in all of us.
I don't know who you are Alan Watts, but your knowledge and investigation into these fundamental questions is just skimming the surface and your results are very superficial. Keep working on it. 🥰
