  • In this video I test the Torp TC500 in more depth and do a few tests on the bike such as a comparison to the standard power of the Surron Light Bee x.
    I also do some full speed tests and wheelie tests.
    I also talk about a few corrections I had to make to the calibration of the speedo and go over a few of the settings in the Torp app.
    Any questions please feel free to ask in the comments below.

    In your previous video you said that torp controller allow stock display use but what about horn? Can I still use stock horn with Torp TC500?

    • @mattfrancisofficial
      @mattfrancisofficial  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yes the horn will still work with the TC500. If you also purchase the torp display you would have to leave the standard horn button on the bike with the eco and sport mode button attached. You can remove the speedo display from eco/sport mode buttons. The standard eco/sport mode buttons can be used together with the Torp display as the Torp display plugs directly into the controller. Personally i removed the whole display and eco/sport mode buttons because my horn button was faulty.
      I hope this helps! 🔋⚡️

    I feel like stock tune with a bigger sprocket is proper for learning wheelies. It's a bit hard to get up without that bigger sprocket.

    • @mattfrancisofficial
      @mattfrancisofficial  9 месяцев назад +3

      I should of stated that in the video really shouldn’t I! I’ve used a 56t sprocket after a month of having my surron so i forget to relate to people that would still be using stock sprocket. Although i do think anyone who is still using a 48t stock sprocket needs to upgrade to at least a 54t sprocket! The torque increase is amazing and top speed loss is minimal!

    Did you put the wheel rim diameter in or the overhaul size with tyre. ?

    • @mattfrancisofficial

      The overall size including the tyre, measured from one side to the other from tip of the rubber.

    So many people claim that eco mode gives you better range so I've done some tests. I've ran the same track / distance with the same speed but one time on eco mode and the other time on sport. Stock battery (charged to 100% before both test runs), stock controller. There was zero difference in the battery drain between both runs. But I'm wondering if the aftermarket controller alone would make a difference since people say the stock one is quite unefficient.

    • @mattfrancisofficial
      @mattfrancisofficial  9 месяцев назад +2

      Thats very interesting! Something i never tested myself which i wish i had! I did go riding with 2 other standard surrons the other day and I was getting more range than they were. When they got to 50% i was still around 63%.
      This would indicate that the Torp controller is more efficient than the stock controller. I’ll have to experiment more with this in future for a video🔋⚡️

    • @mattfrancisofficial
      @mattfrancisofficial  9 месяцев назад +1

      In addition to my first reply. I was running more power than the stock surrons as well so even when using more power the Torp controller was more efficient from what I experienced. 👍🏻

    • @mattfrancisofficial
      @mattfrancisofficial  9 месяцев назад +1

      I was using a 56t sprocket, obviously with stock sprocket there would be a more increased top speed but i prefer more torque 👌🏻🔋⚡️

  • @DebacleWhimsical

    learning wheelies with stock can be fine however weight of the rider must be considered in the equation right? I'm 90kg. what about you if I may ask?

    • @mattfrancisofficial
      @mattfrancisofficial  7 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah you’re probably right, weight would make a difference but it’s all about how you use your weight to balance as well. I’m a light guy, around 60kg and sitting at the back of the seat made a very small difference to how the bike came back where as if you are heavier it makes it easier to get the front wheel up

    • @mattfrancisofficial
      @mattfrancisofficial  9 месяцев назад +2

      I find knee knocks easier now but when I couldn’t wheelie at all it was a lot scarier to try than a standard wheelie. Definitely better to start with a standard wheelie though

    If I upgrade to TC500 with stock 60v battery, and 54t sprocket, will I get over 45mph?

    • @mattfrancisofficial
      @mattfrancisofficial  9 месяцев назад +2

      Yes mate definitely! i use a 60V 38ah stock battery and a 56t sprocket, i can get up to 51/52 mph so its slightly faster than a standard surron. The torque increase alone is worth it. The bike is a different beast with the torp controller 🔋⚡️

      @@mattfrancisofficial Great to hear! My bike is actually a cinebike for filming onset for commercials and movies. Noise is always a concern. I'm concerned my belt on the motor will break with the extra power. I imagine upgrading to a chain (warp 9) is necessary?

    • @mattfrancisofficial
      @mattfrancisofficial  9 месяцев назад +2

      I personally haven’t upgraded to a chain kit and have never had problems with my belt, never slipped or snapped on me and have been using the same belt for just over a year. I’d say once you start going above the 12KW stage you would benefit more from a chain conversion kit but i’ve known people to ride higher than 12KW and still have no trouble with their belts. I suppose it comes down to personal experience and preference and i will be trying a chain kit in the future but for now the belt drive is more than capable for me🔋⚡️

    The total in GBP was £725 for just the controller. But its worth noting that I had to pay an additional £170 Duty/customs charges before DHL would deliver. So the total is about £900

    • @mattfrancisofficial
      @mattfrancisofficial  3 месяца назад +1

      The tc500 is still going strong and definitely still one of my favourite upgrades! The battery is doing well also, my battery is nearly 2 years old and the over all capacity has definitely dropped leading to less range per full charge but this well happen to any battery. For example an iphone battery will only perform at peak performance for 6-12 months before the over all capacity drops and then it wont last anywhere near as long! Thats the only downfall i’ve noticed battery wise. 🔋⚡️
