I met Charlie Pride in 1966. At a club in Great Falls, Montana where he performed frequently. His first album had just been released. When he took his break , he sat with us. My mom and I were with the the local entertainment news guy. A friend of Mom's. They were all acquainted. I was visiting from Oregon. A few months later during the holidays I was there again. Talked with him again. A very genuine person. Some months later, my mom said he had bought a house a couple of blocks from her. My younger sister baby sat for his kids. He lived in Great Falls for longer than most people realize. Montana truly claimed him as their own. By the time he left there, he was a really big star.
I saw this beautiful man at a country fair getting a standing ovation from mostly young folks. It just proves his talent😄😄 has an immortal influence. RIP Mr. Pride
This man I totally admire, for the person that he was! I just have to tell you all the story. My Uncle was very sick (colon cancer) he'd always loved Charlie, well he wanted a signed picture. My little darling cousin finally got a holt of Charlie's office, they said sure They'd get one in the mail, then the lady said now you do know sometimes Charlie calls these people and talks to them, well a few days passed and the phone rang ,they said Charlie want to see if he could talk with my Uncle, they took the phone to him Charlie talked to him oh 15 or 20 minutes. Oh it made my Uncle so,so happy, it was the last time we seen him so happy. We have Loved Charlie for years, but never thought of him doing what he did for my Uncle. There's no one else ever done something like that, but Charlie did!!! I was so sad when he passed away, there will never be any one that can fell his shoes. MANY PRAYERS FOR HIS FAMILY, HE WAS TRULY ONE OF THE BEST CARING STARS IKNOW OF.
If you don't mind what fair...my dad went with someone to pick him up at airport to take him to the Great Frederick Fair in Maryland on year years ago...and what a amazing man he was...❤❤❤❤
He has been my hero since 1982 when I was 21 and exactly he knew that he was going before us, the song is to say that he was prepared to go anytime. Rest in peace. 🇳🇦

Charley Pride....He moved away from Mississippi...but his music lives on in my MS heart FOREVER! Have loved his music all of my life... seeing him in concert...what a joy! This man is all about values, respect and a life well lived. PROUD of him!
I discovered Charley Pride as a small child while listening to my transistor radio. His singing captured my heart at an early age. As a military brat, we traveled to many places, and when we stopped to eat, I always played a Charley Pride song on the jukebox. Charley was always on the jukebox! To me, he was the stuff. And now, I am truly saddened to hear of Mr. Pride's passing. I would like to extend my most heartfelt condolences to Mr. Pride's family & friends.
I first heard Mr. Pride on the radio as a young girl. I loved his singing then. I love his singing now. Thank you for sharing your talent to the world!
Grew up listening to oldies and country. Funny. When ever I saw Mr. Charlie Pride perform, I never noticed he was black. In my eyes, he was a great country singer and from what I've heard, an even better man!
I was raised with Mr. Prides' music...always loved it.... still do.....just heard this today....love it ! His voice always was as smooth as butter ! God bless and rest easy.
It's a damn shame that modern country radio ignores and leaves the legends behind. You have to go looking for good country music. This is right here is GOOD country music. Thank you Mr. Pride!
Charley is arguably the best country singer I grew up listening to him and I finally got the chance to see him live last year and I will never forget the day I did
The greatest black singer for his time. For all time in country music but he didn't want to be known for that he just wanted to be known as a talented musician and singer which he was. I heard that some people didn't know he was black and went to his concert and actually got up and left because he was black that's what he had to deal with this song always in my way is great for me my situation exactly rest in peace Mr Charlie Pride

Hello 👋 Lisa.
Couldn't find lyrics for this song anywhere online, so I just transcribed:
I’m always there, forever, I am
There between what I’m reaching for
And the fingers on my hand
Blocking myself with things, like words I shouldn’t say
It seems I’m always standing in my way
Like the time I told you a lie
And I became the wall that stood between your heart and mine
I apologize, but the truth is,
The truth don’t ever fade.
It seems I’m always standing in my way.
My way is the hard way, I guess.
Guys like me say “No,” when they mean “Yes.”
I’d step aside if I could,
Because I live for your embrace.
But it seems I’m always standing in my way.
Why you stand beside me, I don’t know.
There’s so many places a girl like you could go.
I hope you see enough in me
To make you want to stay
Cuz it seems I’m always standing in my way.
My way is the hard way, I guess.
Guys like me say “No,” when they mean “Yes.”
I’d step aside if I could,
Because I live for your embrace.
But it seems I’m always standing in my way.
I’d step aside if I could,
Cuz I live for your embrace
But it seems I’m always standing in my way.
I’m always there, forever, I am
There between what I’m reaching for
And the fingers on my hand
.
