I couldn’t agree more. JT is one hell of an artist. The “pop scene” has him at their mercy, but I’d surely sell out for the millions he makes too. I appreciate him doing a Ray song so much. I put Ryan Adams and Ray in the same genre of just GREAT fucking musicians who do it just for the sake of the music!!
I hear what your saying, but he is Justin Timberlake. He has his initials decorated across the entire stage and he has women fainting for him just for standing on two feet. I dont think it takes gigantic balls. Instead, I would say, it would show a sincere lack of courage if he didn't cover what he loved. He's made. Obviously you get to do what the fk you want. I love RL's version, but Im not sure I would have fallen in love with it the way I did hearing *Zac Brown Band* do it. The tits. but thats what covers are all about. the times that the song gets its due justice from an outsider. Jimi Hendrix- Watchtower, Phish- Roses Are Free. period, end of rant.
JJ Surma Get real man... it takes no balls at all to sing a love song to a bunch of swooning girls. He’s a talented guy who did a fine job on a beautiful song.
idk if you know who bon iver is, but justin has said him and his wife fell in love to his music, and bon iver is one of the greatest non main stream artists and i think its amazing that jt can sing his pop stuff but still love this true to the heart deep music like ray or bon iver

+Salvatore Santiago I LOVE BON IVER. Justin saying he likes Ray and Bon and possibly other folk artists/non mainsteam artists just made me gain so much respect for him
+Mariah Karelyn Yeah, this was better than I was expecting. Too bad he had to ask his audience to indulge him...sounds like his audience needs to branch out some.
This is why I love Justin Timberlake. He knows how to make money, but he there's always that undercurrent of his being a genuine guy. This is probably my favorite song by Ray and to see a huge star like Mr. Timberlake perform it is very cool. He has so many projects going on, yet he finds the time to sort through some Ray Lamontagne. Good on you man!
Timberlake actually nailed a hard song to copy. Especially since his voice is almost the polar opposite of Lamontagne. I really am shocked how well he pulled this off. It is one of my favorite songs I have ever heard since 1969.
The humility in this. The humanity of justin standing there, doing this, and hoping that he does it justice. Believing that he can't sing it like ray, but loving it enough to play it.
OH MY WORD!!!!!!!!! My heart is about to explode, his voice is INSANE. I love this song and I love the way it really shows just how good his voice is. Flipping awesome. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
In 2004 I went to the bush hall in london (ray's first concert over here, tiny little venue, 200 people) having heard ray sing 4 songs, I took a couple of friends along who had heard 0 songs, ray's music is as good as anything Ive heard. Im not a justin fan but I think this cover is heart felt so respect so yes having heard this I think I quite like justin t for doing this cover.
Well he's not the best guitar player lol, but he sang it well. And I'm glad he respects an artist like Ray enough to play a song that none of his audience knows (which takes some balls on his part). Two artists with very unique voices.
Ughh I so recognized this song right away!!! He does such a good job!!! One tree hill is my knowledge of this song! 💜💜 love you JT, great job! Wish I could have been there and sang it with you I’m just too scared to share my voice with the public!! 🥺
great song JT. One of my faves too. I catch myself liking this guy more and more as time goes on. Wouldn't have ever imagined I'd like something from someone out of N-Sync
I still remember the first day i heard this song...that says it all! me and a friend of mine covered this one too. Its on my channel if anyone is in the mood for more Ray Lamontagne songs.
A real musician (like Justin here) does not limit his or herself to a single genre. I am sure there's a lot more than pop and hip hop in his record collection. Probably some jazz, rock, and even classical in there.
Everyone starts cheering when he starts the song like they recognized it... I can almost guarantee he was right when he said "chances are you don't know it". Tweaking to be cool and act like they know something that others don't know that makes them interesting. We all have friends like that.
The number of people shitting on the fans is hilarious. "I bet nobody knew this song." Bitch, I did, and I love me some JT. Get over yourselves 😂😂😂. Tbh, I thought it was foul for him to say that they probably didn't know the song, too. From now on, I only listen to Norwegian death metal recorded on a flute and played backwards. You wouldn't understand it 😂😂😂
Take a listen to Zac Brown Bands version of this. It's amazing. I'll give Justin credit for culturing these top 40 zombies, he played this tune to his own style & I can respect that.
My brother was found in his apartment, passed from a od.....with a picture of him holding me in his wallet. Some of us know this song well baby boy, he knew this song, he lived it, and died by it.
Chances that you dont know. Hahaha I just clicked the vid cos I was wondering how would jt sing this song. Sad that most people don't know this kind of beautiful music.
I love JT, but there's something about covering Ray that kind of upsets people. I just watched another cover by a dude that had pretty much as good a voice as JT, but people were slaying him in the comments. Ray is just too legit I guess. Any cover in a large performance setting seems sorta wrong somehow. Why bother anyway? JT's stuff kicks ass. If I'd paid for a show that's what I'd wanna hear.
I think it depends which songs and how similar they are to the original and who does it. Ray's songs are very emotive. The only cover I hear was Sawyer Frederick's when he did Saved By A Woman, and tonally it sounded the same as Ray's. It didn't feel like a cover because their styles are so similar anyways.
The first time I heard this song was Zac Brown. It wasn't until a few years later that I heard the original. I love most of Ray's songs but I'm more partial to Zac's version
This takes gigantic balls. He knows most of his fans are not going to get it. Does it anyway. Respect.
Spot on with your comment and kudos to JT shows u the love musicians have for other artists. Its all about the music
I couldn’t agree more. JT is one hell of an artist. The “pop scene” has him at their mercy, but I’d surely sell out for the millions he makes too. I appreciate him doing a Ray song so much. He killed it too.

Don’t let JT’s pop superstardom fool you. He’s a real musician. Hell of a musician at that.
Ray LaMontagne’s music touches the soul.
Just gained a bit more respect for Justin. He has very good taste in music.
idk if you know who bon iver is, but justin has said him and his wife fell in love to his music, and bon iver is one of the greatest non main stream artists and i think its amazing that jt can sing his pop stuff but still love this true to the heart deep music like ray or bon iver

Exactly!!! A great great cover
i'm actually delighted that he knows and loves Ray. perhaps some of the youngsters will be redirected to check ray out.
FrankValchiria right?!?! I love that it’s one of his favourite songs. 😍
Dead silence in the audience. No one knows this song 🙄
Never thought I'd enjoy Justin Timberlake doing a cover of a Ray Lamontagne song. And no one in this audience had a freakin' clue.
yep
Same

Absolutely, To cover Ray is amazing
I agree completely. If you get a chance listen to Eric Churches cover of this song. Drop dead amazing.

One of the best: Ray LaMontagne
Glad people dont. I dont want to share ray with anyone
Because thier pants are sagging thier brains out.
Wow Justin doing a Ray cover this is fucking awesome
Timberlake actually nailed a hard song to copy. Especially since his voice is almost the polar opposite of Lamontagne. I really am shocked how well he pulled this off. It is one of my favorite songs I have ever heard since 1969.
The humility in this. The humanity of justin standing there, doing this, and hoping that he does it justice. Believing that he can't sing it like ray, but loving it enough to play it.
Had no idea JT had interest in real music of this caliber. Love this song
I LOVE Ray Lamontagne! How wonderful to hear Justin give it a go. It's a great cover!!
New found respect for Justin after knowing and doing this song. One of my absolute favorite songs. Ray Lamontagne is amazing and so underrated.
After watching this, I now have respect for Justin Timberlake, for the first time ever. Thanks for showing the world this side of you.
Reluctantly have to admit that this is stunning
Now go and listen to the MASTER sing his song - Ray Lamontagne!
Respect. Thanks for bringing Ray to a new audience!
Such an honest , raw emotional song. Shame these fans don't get it, just listen and appreciate the tribute to Ray LaMontagne.
Love Montagne. This was pretty damn good. All these folks needed a lesson in amazing songwriting.
OH MY WORD!!!!!!!!! My heart is about to explode, his voice is INSANE. I love this song and I love the way it really shows just how good his voice is. Flipping awesome. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Just seeing this video for the first time. I thought he was about to cover Dolly. Wow. Ray Lamontagne. I'm a huge fan of his.
for someone who doesnt really listen mainstream artists... this gives me some hope lol good to see Justin doing this
The one time I was happy someone recorded a concert on their phone.
Ughh I so recognized this song right away!!! He does such a good job!!! One tree hill is my knowledge of this song! 💜💜 love you JT, great job! Wish I could have been there and sang it with you I’m just too scared to share my voice with the public!! 🥺
Ray is not underrated, He’s your favorite singer’s favorite singer.
There's still hope
Justine , That was awesome.Ray best artist nobody knows.Way to go Justin.
I hope his cover brought many fans to learn the brilliance of Ray.
One of the greatest human beings alive covering the greatest song writer alive.
Yes the person who wrote the song is Dolly Parton she is one of the greatest writer alive including I will always love you and many more
Such a great song and Justin did me proud with this version.
great song JT. One of my faves too. I catch myself liking this guy more and more as time goes on. Wouldn't have ever imagined I'd like something from someone out of N-Sync
proud of you for doin this song, Justin. Shows you got some soul....Which I've come to notice watching you grow up.
As if he weren’t cool enough. One of my favorites!
Love this from JT!! What a song and what a cover!!!!
wow . simply wow
I still remember the first day i heard this song...that says it all! me and a friend of mine covered this one too. Its on my channel if anyone is in the mood for more Ray Lamontagne songs.
wohoo! ima watch!
Beautiful song wasted on that audience. 👍🏻
I hear you, but still the seeds were sown.
He's got some wrong chords in there, but he sings the flippin' fuck out of this!
Wow! JT covering Jolene. Am soooo shocked. Fantastic song and a great cover. The man has great taste.
Way to surprise your audience JT
Great cover of a brilliant song. Well played sir.
Behind his name is a talented artist with big stones. Tip of the hat to Justin.
He doesn’t convey the same energy or true emotion Ray brings to the song
just purely AWESOME!!!
Holy Crap
Nice version, good voice. Hats off for singing it.
Nice tribute to this awesome song
Ray is the greatest unknown artist ever.
gorgeous!
Very good cover. James Dupre does a really nice cover as well. This is impressive. Gotta love jt
This is one of my fav songs.. Jolene...
Great job, Justin. 👏🏻
JT can sing the hell out of anything but this is unexpected and fantastic.
Props to Ray for getting on the top of JTs favorite song list👍
Love this I miss a lady the same way
A real musician (like Justin here) does not limit his or herself to a single genre. I am sure there's a lot more than pop and hip hop in his record collection. Probably some jazz, rock, and even classical in there.
Hi would love to know what you think of my 17 year old grandsons cover of this ruclips.net/video/ZSwT8_s3Qds/видео.html
I love this
Lovely!
Good job Justin, you are adorable.
Okay okay also my favorite song ever... with a critical ear I listened .... and he fucking blew this out of the water...HELLLLLL YEAHHHH

Nailed it!...bravo
It would be better id this chick wasn't screaming into her own phone. ;)
Agreed why ruin the song with that stupid whiny voice
I’m even a bigger JT fan now. Rock on brotha
Everyone starts cheering when he starts the song like they recognized it... I can almost guarantee he was right when he said "chances are you don't know it". Tweaking to be cool and act like they know something that others don't know that makes them interesting. We all have friends like that.
Surprisingly good
Very nice cover.
Good job, Justin.
Well done..👍👍!! #balls

Found this searching Ray, not Justin. Happy.

Total people that knew this song in attendance: 0

I agree! Ray is my fave

The number of people shitting on the fans is hilarious. "I bet nobody knew this song." Bitch, I did, and I love me some JT. Get over yourselves 😂😂😂. Take a listen to Zac Brown Bands version of this. It's amazing. I'll give Justin credit for culturing these top 40 zombies, he played this tune to his own style & I can respect that.
robncasey1216 nah, everyone should be redirected to Ray's version.
If you're looking for a modern country version with 0% soul, then go to Zac Brown Band cover. It has none of Ray's passion:)
As others have said, the Zac Brown version totally changes the song. I like it as a song, by itself, but it's like so different it's not even a cover.
Nobody does it better than Zac does you can feel the passion of the song not even Ray makes
it that emotional
Obviously Jake you don't know or understand music because Zac Brown band's version is 0 percent country and 100% soul.
Sad that most people don't know this kind of beautiful music.
he has good taste in music.
Jt sounded like jc in my arms one time part
I love JT, but there's something about covering Ray that kind of upsets people. Dolly Parton wrote Jolene listen to the original version
check out zac brown's version. I can't finish listening to teenies wooooing
The first time I heard this song was Zac Brown. It wasn't until a few years later that I heard the original. I love most of Ray's songs but I'm more partial to Zac's version
Love the fact that he's paying tribute to one of the best singer/songwriters alive today. But, having said that, it wasn't the best rendition...
You mean Dolly Parton who wrote this song???? Listen to her version that'll make you cry she wrote the song
@@rinkle396 not dolly's song, you luddite
I get the feeling most of the peeps commenting here are Ray Lamontagne fans. ;)
Sweet Jesus!
