Testing out “The 5-3 Stack” by DIY Detail and their tool/products

  • The 5-3 stack by DIY Detail consists of applying their 5 year ceramic coating as the base protection and then 2-8 hours later, apply the 3 year on top of it to get a new entity and to make both the coatings bond together. The results end up in being insane gloss, slickness, and protection to help against water spots, due to the graphene of the 3 year coating. Before applying them, I prepped the car by doing a 2 step correction, trying out for the first time their polisher and their polish.

    The ones I have done is 8 and 3 instead of 5 and 3. Because of our temperature in our island me and my friend Detailer who we share tools and products besides knowledge, applied the 8 years coating under a 95 degrees Fahrenheit day and 92% humidity, took the vehicle outside under the sun for 45 minutes so it cured before applying the 3 years coating, let it cool for like 30 minutes, then applied the 3 years coating, took it outside again and 45 minutes later we called the customer to get the vehicle. Between wash, decontamination, enhancement, and coating all done between the two of us in 3 hours. I told Yvan what we did and obviously he recommended to wait 2 hours between the 2 coatings. We did for another vehicles as he said and as we did and no difference for now per our experience. All because of our temperature and humidity is way higher than any place in the USA so curing is way faster 😜😜

      @@1stfrompuertorico568 oh wow when reading this I was going to talk about the 2 hours wait 😂 but 92% humidity is crazy 😨 I don’t know how you do it haha, but not having to wait the full 2 hours wait between coats is nice, my 2 hour wait was 10pm-00h00.. and then I applied the 3 year, I would have taken the 45 min wait here instead of 2h for sure haha but hey it is what it is. Thanks for the comment 👍🏻

    Antoine, seems like your backing plate is loose, tighten the screw.

      That’s what I was thinking, tightened it up and it works great! Thanks a lot 👍🏻

    I did paint correction and 5-3 stack for Mother's day gift on her 5 yr old SUV. WOW so shiny and slick! She said it feels like velvet and looks better than new! DIY Rocks!

      Yep the combo is just absolutely crazy! I can’t even imagine their new C6ceramics coating, the stuff must be out of this world 😂

    Nice job! You explained and showed everything really well. If you have a lavalier mic it might help your audio a bit (less reverb). If you don’t, something to save up for in the future. Rode makes some decent options.

      Thank you Bruce! I recently just bought the DJI mic 2 which is similar to some that rode makes, the future videos will have better sound ;)

    Where did you get the angled grit guard to scrub the pad with? Looks very useful since I don't want to buy the lake country pad cleaner.

      I got it from Amazon, it is called a stability disc, also didn’t want to start off with a 200$ wash bucket so I tried the home made way haha works pretty good for now

      Merci! J’ai un peu de misère à savoir quel type de vidéos faire en format plus long et à l’horizontal.. est-ce que je fais des vidéos explicatives de techniques, juste me montrer moi en train de travailler, faire des comparaisons de produits ou des reviews de produits.. t’en penses quoi?

      @marteaubu 28 дней назад

      @@FanNETiqueAutoSolutions personnellement les vidéos que j'aime c'est vraiment plus de 10 a 20min horizontal , pour ce qui est du contenue bien sûr que les reviews c'est intéressant mais surement dispendieux quand ont commence, j'essaierais un peux de tout !! et surtout des voitures différant ! lâche pas je vais te suivre ....

      @@marteaubumerci du feed-back! Je prends ça en note pour essayer de faire plus de vidéos. Je pense que pour essayer de créer une communauté et avoir une audience qui interagit, c’est important de faire plus de vidéo de moi devant la caméra que seulement faire comme mes shorts et montrer mon travail. Mon contenu devrait tourner majoritairement vers les longues durées à partir de maintenant et prendre des extraits de ses vidéos là pour faire mes shorts.. bref haha c’est gentil pour ton opinion;)

      I know I wasn’t proud of myself on this one.. was exhausted and had to wake up 2-3 hours after finishing this job, so I prioritized sleep instead of the video on the spot.. I’ll have more ceramic coating videos coming where I show exactly how it’s done. Thanks for watching.
