The title refers to the "best time" to prune. The audio refers to "this time of year." Help us out, what time of year do you do this? I don't want to kill my shrubbery!!!
I try not to be OCD on people. But the shrub needs a little more cleaning out, the low growth that you mentioned shouldn't be stubbed it should be cut back to a main upright. The crossovers and rubbing branches need to come out. And depending on the shrub, some of the large all the growth needs to be cut down close to the ground. I love doing massively overgrown lucotaoe. Of course you have to explain to the client. They're going to have to look at a bunch of sticks for a while. And sometimes especially with older rhododendrons. There is the outside chance that you may lose the plant. Please excuse the spelling.
Different plants need to be pruned at different times of the year. Boxwoods can be done about anytime. Azaleas are done in the spring after flowering. Forsythias can be cut in late summer. Crape Myrtles are done in late fall. 🐀🐾
What month it's the best time to do it?

It’s in the 60’s if we’re lucky, some days colder, is this a bad time to do any trimming?
Crape Myrtle’s should be pruned late winter, early spring. Do it in fall and new growth might get killed from winter
id like to see em now 2 years later ....
if anyone ever fell on one of those that would be a safety concern.
