- I learnt so much during my first year of teaching (NQT year). I admit I made a lot of mistakes, but thankfully I’m able to reflect on this now and share my tips and advice for new teachers. I really struggled with my self confidence in my first year, if you are a teacher that struggles with nerves and anxiety then I have some tips for you to help cope.

Great video!
I agree. The secret to success at all levels is planning. I’ve been teaching for 25 years. I still plan everything out.
I always tell new teachers not to be too hard on themselves. Teaching is an art. Each lesson you learn from your mistakes and make adjustments. You become better and better after each lesson.
Don’t fall into the trap of teacher imposter syndrome. If you care about kids, you are good enough to be a teacher. Caring is the key. Everything else can be coached.
Again, great video. Great advice. Now I’m a subscriber.
Keep up the great work!
This is what I feel right now especially were gonna have a demonstration teaching and I'm not a loud teacher I'm kinda introvert
I'm a graduate in the field of Education from the University of Nairobi, Kenya and I have been stressing out wondering if I enrolled into a course I can't even handle. Now I feel more empowered and relieved over the need to be perfect. Thank you so much and of course I had to subscribe 😉
Thanks for the tips! I feel super anxious thinking about my first year as a teacher. I'll start by the end of August and just feel overwhelmed by it all! I appreciate what you said about the lesson resources because I haven't thought about that. I hope I'll be fine and enjoy my year. Bless you 💜
Would love to know how you got on - I’ve just started a primary PGCE! Finding it pretty tough so would love to know how others got on doing a teacher training/ECT years xx
Hi! I'm a second year Primary Education student at Queen Margaret University, just getting prepared to go on my first ever placement next month - I'm feeling pretty nervous however this video has been super helpful and will be so reassuring to come back to after a challenging day of placement or when I find myself worrying over little mistakes I may have made etc! So thank you!
Thanks for your videos I've just binged watched loads of them. I teach post-16 and 1st and 2nd year degree students in the degree centre of a college in England and some of the students are mature learners and are double my age! Deffo feel the same feelings of imposter syndrome as if they're judging me haha 😩😂
Thank you Miss Ross! You are very helpful! I keep the 'Believe in yourself' quote you said in mind. Best wishes from Greece!
I love this video. Thank you ❤ I’m a month in to a primary PGCE. I’m enjoying it but finding it challenging! I suffer a lot with nerves/anxiety before observations! Good to know this is normal! Xx
I’m thinking about becoming a teacher, and this is quite helpful. Also, I love your accent! :)
I have just finished my first lesson as esl teacher, I was nervous to begin with but afterwards I felt I had missed the opportunity to include more detailed information....oops.. I hope this anxiety fades away...
