After all he has too much pride to use others while his own is "perfect". Meanwhile, not only did Fern learn way more different magic from Frieren but she perfected to match her style. She doesn't focus on expending alot of magic in one spell, but small and fast casts with the most effectivity (not strong nor big, but the best combination of both), Truly a disciple of Frieren the Slayer.

I definitely don’t see Fern as a jack of all trades character. It’s clear she favors a certain style of magic for combat. Increased knowledge of other spells doesn’t mean she uses them much at all.

Don't let the badass music distract you from the fact Fern was practically fighting one-handed after getting hit hard in the shoulder. Her grip on her staff was very light with her off-hand, and later in the scene she's holding it one handed, bracing against her forearm And of course, she was hiding her mana the whole time This isn't Fern at her best, not by far
Frieren is like super super good and the production circumstances of the anime only heightened its value. I had goosebumps during the fight, it had everything: it let the audience breathe between each movement, an incredibly executed fanservice, and this OST... Incredible. If one day Spirit Circle would get an adaptation, i'm praying it will get the same circumstances as Frieren too.

From the reaction of the demons I think fern has a distorted view of what counts as “basic magic”. Her master is implied to be the strongest magic user alive, at least when it comes to killing demons. That’s kinda like someone having Mike Tyson as their only sparring partner for your whole boxing career and trusting their estimation of what they consider a “strong punch”
Keep coming back to this scene, ive read the manga but it was unique but also good story, somehow the anime just compliments it all so good, scenes like these are what leaves an impact to me

She was practicing so hard on just one, just to reach that stone. And she tried to rush it as quickly as possible because she needed to achive that before her father figure passed away. I guess that's why she's so used to spamming magic attacks.
