The deep sea is rife with competition and conflict. Deep sea biodiversity relies on the scattered organisms interacting in order to survive, whether they’re working together in symbiosis, scavenging, being predated, or parasitising a host animal. But there is one ecological interaction that does more than any other to influence organisms to change and diversify, and thus plays an important role in the success of deep sea communities. The limited resources mean only a small number of niches can exist. Thus, there is greater competition between different species trying to fill the same niches. This explains why the deep sea has so much competition, for animals must share the ecosystem with other competing species all trying to consume the same limited resources.

Just want to give u props man. Ive been fascinated by the deep sea for years and u are by far the best channel on youtube that delves into its inner workings
Aww thats so lovely, thank you :)
You should play subnautica
@@seanashleybrown Best game ever made’

Did anyone here play Endless Ocean?
I can't get enough of hearing you talk. Your voice is soothing, yet foreboding. Like a parent trying to explain to their young one why the forest is dangerous without frightening them too much. Absolutely perfect for explaining what goes on in the ocean, imo.
Thanks 😁😊
I like the way you phrased that
Yeah, I often fall asleep listening, it's so soothing and I love to learn new things, even when my brain is shutting down
Me too, soft and clear voice,,
My dad slaps me silly at night with a stick of salami.
@@botulismcasserole9832 I’ll give you the night time meat stick boy
I get so excited whenever this channel posts, I'm always down for a soothing, informative documentary. I hope he becomes the next David Attenborough because I absolutely love learning about the deep sea.
Thanks Maddie, thats really sweet of you
He really has a special X Factor, doesn't he? And he's been passionate about since he was a wee one. And he's still so young. If he doesn't get offered a voice over for Nova, Nat Geo, PBS or something of the like, I would be surprised. But I don't know if that is what he wants to do, but he surly has the talent and voice. He will be amazing at whatever his passion follows. I'm so proud of him. (I don't know him, just have loved his channel since he was at like 26,000 subs, which to me is still alot. I have 6 subs lol)
@@lewasil Your comments always put a smile on my face. And definitely, doing narration or presenting real-world big budget documentaries would be a dream come true for me! I grew up on Attenborough and watching nature films as a kid. But to be honest, to get any kind of career in any capacity in the field of wildlife or marine biology would make me very very happy!!! I just love the natural world and all its wonders :)
Thanks again, you’ve made my day as always!! Be sure to keep in touch
17 minutes long and not one dull/boring moment in the entire video! That’s a pretty impressive feat! Wonderful and very informative and fun video! Love your work
Frankly, the length could be cut under 10 minutes if he spoke faster. The speaking is so mind-numbingly slow that I wish RUclips had playback speed options above 2x.
You have a perfect voice for falling asleep too. Take that as a big compliment(even if it may not sound like it)
You know it’s going to be a good day when there’s new Natural World Facts content
Thanks ☺️
Your voice is so perfect for this type of narration. I watch your videos before bed and it’s always so soothing!
“International is between nations” this man just gave the best analogy for how to understand the difference between the words. He simplified it for us. Why doesn’t everyone do that?
The more you study English and root words, prefixes and suffixes, the more you’ll be able to solve the meaning of words on your own. For example, the medical suffix ‘itis’ means “inflammation of “- Appendicitis means ‘inflammation of the appendix”; Bursitis means ‘inflammation of the Bursa’. The word root ‘ology’ means “a science or branch of knowledge”, which translates to ‘the study of ‘ (a particular subject.) Psychology, the study of the psyche, or mind; Geology, the study of the Earth; Biology, the study of life and living organisms. The more knowledge you acquire, the easier it becomes to decipher the meaning of a word, even if you have never heard it before. The English language is fascinating! Now if I could only remember not to use so many commas! 🤣
@@bunnyviperaquatics2108 -emia means presence in blood
@@NathanDudani Cool, thanks! I love learning new things! Have a good day!
I can see how it could be useful to some but over explaining can be unsettling especially to us science enthusiasts. The "interspecies" "international" analogy kind of felt like an unintentional insult to my intelligence. Great video though. :)
@@SungazerDNB that seems self centered to me. Even if you’re a scientist, not everyone else is. I don’t know maybe I took it wrong?
the way you've structured and talked about ecology and evolution really shows your passion for science education. it's easy to understand and still captures the complexity of the topics, which is so nice to see considering how i found some of my college lectures about the same things quite boring. feelin a special love and excitement for biology when its presented well, thank you so much for making these!!
I love videos about deep ocean, there isn't enough videos about it and research being done. I know its hard to get down there but its possible and as humans we don't visit it often enough. We can build drones for war and rockets for space we should have stuff capable to easily go down there and people going. Your videos are great thanks for sharing.
Actually, research is going on all the time down there. And, even better than that, there are a few research vessels that livestream there exploration adventures. I suggest checking out the following channels:
EV Nautilus
Schmidt Ocean
OceanExplorerGov
@@AGDinCA ok thanks man, i am always looking for alot of Marianna trench videos. Ive done some deep digging abd i cant get enough of it. It is so alien and dark i can only imagine what it would look like lit up. Thanks alot!
i only noticed this bcs i'm wearing headphones but the voice effect you're using is giving this ethereal vibe that kinda helps to make the ocean less terrifying
Oh, so now you are sponsored! Mr. Big time, lol. Remember months ago? Now you are so huge! I am happy for you and your wonderful channel! I'm just playing with you! It can just go up from here! Xoxoxo
I honestly could not have got this far without you and others like you!! I’ll never forget where I came from, how it all started, nor the wonderful people who were so supportive of me in the early days. I owe it all to you xxx
As silly as it sounds, my default image of the entire ocean up until a few years ago was essentially what I learned recently to be the sunlight zone (bright waters, corals, and all that 😆), and it was only recently when I suddenly felt like searching more about it that I became even more fascinated by just how deep and complex it actually is! It goes so deep that sunlight doesn't even reach? Super cold and crushing pressure?? And all those crazy-looking creatures?! 🤯 This was when I discovered your channel, which honestly sealed the final blow on my fascination for marine biology.
So while I'm sure you've gotten it a bazillion times at this point, I just wanted to say that I love, love, LOVE your content! And your voice, and not to mention the beautifully composed and delivered narrations! Thanks for helping my budding fascination for the deep sea and marine biology bloom!! I probably wouldn't have gotten this interested in it if not for your channel 💕
This has made my day!! I’m so so glad you enjoy the videos and use them to discover more about the complexities of the marine environment ☺️
@@NaturalWorldFacts Aww I'm glad it was able to make your day!! 😊💕

*chef's kiss*
I hope you don't stop uploading!!! Watching your vids after a long day always hits the spot, always satiates my hunger for the unknown!!!
I love your videos. You are going places. You are, if not already the next David Atrenborough hands down. Not everyone can do what your doing and explain the different complexes of live. Let alone the diversities and how they work. Each video, though they may seem them, are so completely different. Thank you.
this video made me sleep last night. just so relaxing, the voice and sound. im here again to finish this.
highly professional production values & well-developed & thoughtfully edited content. my favorite learn-while-falling-asleep channel!
This is so calming 😌
This is such peaceful information to wake up to 💆🏽♂️
Thanks to you, I've watched way too many whale fall videos lol
There's no such thing as too many whale fall videos. 😁
Ahhh, it's a good day when natural world facts drops a video. All is right with the world once more
Your voice always almost puts me to sleep, but what you talk about is usually enough to keep me awake. Well done!
I let the ads run all the way through at the beginning because I can’t believe I get to watch this stuff for free and I want to support the channel! That being said, you have GOT to get rid of the mid-video ads. They break up the flow of your beautiful videos and take me completely out of it.
I gotta tell you, you are amazing. I love all the facts and the pictures you have in the video! I really appreciate you also pushing me to decide on the career of marine biology. So keep up the amazing work!
Thank you so much Aaron :)
This is one of the best narration I've ever heard. The tone and pitch, the detail and insight. 10/10
Another again, incredible documentary.
This is such a beautiful channel!
I absolutely love your channel
Aw thank you so much Andrew!! That really means a lot :)
There's just this unimaginably huge unexplored alien universe separating the planet's landmasses and we just don't really think about it too much lol
As someone who grew up watching ocean and nature documentaries when I was little, your vids give me such nostalgia even on the first watch. You've nailed the style and aesthetic perfectly!
I've always loved how slow he talks and gives us pauses in-between to process the information. Unlike other documentaries, this one is probably the most beginner/casual-friendly. Keep it up!
Cheers!! :)
Always wonderful videos
I can’t wait until your channel blows up even more and I get to say I was an original subscriber
I promise I mean this as a compliment- your voice sounds like it would be right at home narrating a horror podcast
I love the linking of concepts. You are the biodiversity that the human species needs
Beautiful video my friend! Have a nice day!😊👍97
I am in awe every time I watch one of your videos. There is so much in the deep sea we haven't seen yet, and every one of your videos has a fascinating creature I have never seen before. I always fall in love with the beauty of nature all over again whenever I am watching your videos. Sometimes I wish I was a marine biologist, but I am already 31 and I feel like it is too late.
This was really lovely to read, and I’m so glad you enjoy my videos and discover so many new creatures from them. The deep sea truly is a beautiful ecosystem, and there’s so much still to cover!!!
@@NaturalWorldFacts I feel like we are wasting time in space, when we have barely scratched the surface when it comes to the deep seas. I really love watching the nautilus videos too. The "aliens" we should be looking for, are in the deep. Like this fascinating marine biologist said in one video, "we don't even know that we are ruining eco systems we haven't even discovered, so we don't even know what we are losing". Was sad to hear.
@@NaturalWorldFacts keep up the good work. Know that you are highly appreciated ❤️💯!
You’re absolutely right. We’re rushing to space as if it’s the only new frontier, yet WE KNOW the deep is full of so many undiscovered creatures and ecosystems. All these billionaires in pursuit of new worlds need to realise we should be working to understand and protect the one we already have! They’re already mining the deep sea before we even understand all its processes. It sickens me
@@NaturalWorldFacts I completely agree. It is really sad.
I half watch these videos because i think your voice is so NICE. it makes me want to close my eyes and just sit back and enjoy things
Listening to this before I sleep because I love the deep sea and your lovely voice is very relaxing
I read the title as "viscous" at first and thought it was gonna be about mucus.
Or competing underwater volcanoes
That would also be quite interesting, a little icky, but interesting nonetheless. And if he did it, it would be utterly captivating.
Ew
Another night where you help me sleep. Thank you so much. (I love hearing about the sea). Your voice will always be amazing!!!.
This is my favorite series to watch when I'm laying in bed for the night. Your voice and calm music are so soothing. Thank you for the great content!
The music, the graphics, the narration - you just made it all perfect. I am fascinated by the ocean and aquatic lives and this is just the perfect channel for me.
Thank you so much :D
Found your channel two days ago and I could NOT stop binging. It’s incredibly soothing, and well-narrated. Thank you for creating such an awesome channel. Looking forward for more videos!
Best narrator since Sir David! I sense an Emmy in the future.
The sounds of narator so calming me and let me sleep tight 🥺❤️
Have you considered voice overs for guided meditation and self hypnosis? Seriously man you have got one of those voices that would be perfect. Just send them your RUclips vids and I bet you can find some sidework! I love your channel!
He should just do a RUclips Podcast story narration to keep the money for himself
@12:40 the first time I saw this I didn't realize it was sped up, I actually thought star fish move that fast lmao
I watch your videos to fall asleep sometimes. Works like a charm. Love these videos a lot
Haven't seen your stuff in my feed for like a month so I just checked and here's new video!! Ty
Please do watch the ads as it's the easiest way to support this fabulous channel 🙏
Thank you so much Della :)
It's 3 am, and i'm just vibing to this guy's voice ❤️😂
I thought the narrator is a woman?! Have I been wrong all this time lmao
Sometimes I use your videos to fall asleep. Only the ones I’ve already watched though! Your voice is so easy to listen to and the footage is slow, dark and beautiful. Thank you so much for informing me and also helping me sleep when I can’t! Your work is phenomenal ~
That’s so wonderful!! Thank you, I’m really glad you enjoy my videos and find them relaxing
The narration is soooo calming in these videos !!!!!
This is going to start my day off right. I can feel it.
Since David Attenborough, I never thought there’d ever be a voice again (also in a different tone & sound). It’s like the book of proverbs you make clarity in what I already thought make sense with simplicity. An excellent educator.
Glad to see how far your channel's come, hopeful to see where it goes. This was another great video essay, keep it up
Thank you for the video. I always look forward to them!
How is this channel under 500K? The music, the soothing voice it’s all so calming
Excellent voice over and great videos Hatsoff 👍
Narrator is brilliant, I almost fell asleep while listening because his nice soothing voice. But at the same time content is perfectly retains attention. Thank you for your work.
Thanks so much Anna, I’m so glad you enjoyed :)
Man this videos never fail to inspire me, truly a work of art
This is a helpful refresher after finishing my ecology lecture course
This is my favourite channel on RUclips. Everything is topnotch. Music, film, explanation and perfect narrative! Thank you for putting this up and spreading knowledge!
I would like to know if you plan on doing a video about deep sea mussels and other bivalves. It would be very interesting!
Lovely content as usual, love hearing watching and learning all about deep sea only if its coming out from a voice just like yours
i discovered your videos yesterday. thanks a million. i am totally amazed by the videos and the most about the deep sea. Ambient backgground music, a calm and well pronouncing voice (I am still learning English) make the videos p e r f e c t. No trash tv action music to pretend that sharks are just killing machines, just nature.. how it is. thank you, for putting a lot of energy, work and time into that project. xx
Thank you so much for saying such lovely things 😊 I am so glad you enjoyed!!
I never realized how well suited Prince Lothric was for documentary narration.
Please keep doing what you do, these videos are always enjoyable to watch
Learning is a never ending process.
LMAO!!!! That Turtle @ 12:50 gripping hard onto the back of its mate, looks like its going WEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! Hahahaha!
Another educational video beautifully presented!
i subbed! i love these longer form videos please please bring moooore beautiful facts imo the longer the better!
4:25 that's a magnificent beast! (Angeler fish?)
Can't believe I hadn't subscribed till today! Been watching your videos the last week or so:) I am low key terrified of the ocean but I also have so much wonder and fascination for it, it's a beautiful place, albeit cold and unforgiving. Thank you for making these videos 💖
the content speaks for itself and the research which went into this is plainly evident
but I want to comment on the presentation.
I find the presenter's voice soothing and interesting.
Amazing video, thank you for this marvelous work. Love the deep sea.
Im really satisfied by this channel's consistency... also, you deserve the sponsors
Thank you so much :)
I love all the deep sea vocabulary, but I do think if they were used more in the videos it’d be easier for us to remember the words and how to use them. Such as Chapter 2’s title could’ve been “Interspecific Competition”
Thanks for all the great videos you upload!! 💗
Your voice is very relaxing and your contents are very reach. Thank you very much
I find your videos fascinating, dude! I love watching them while I’m doing my Ecology hw!!
Always wanted insight like this on this subject. Thank you
Thank you for such a great video of the deep sea community. It is very calming to watch and in the meantime very educative.
Thank you for this amazing video content 💜 ❤ 💖
Your deep sea videos are by far my favorite. The topic is so interesting as well
Beautiful music. Props to George Mendez.
Not only is the info in your videos great but you always have great footage even with places like the deepest parts of the sea. That's how wildlife documentaries hit best, with great shots of the subject not just an infographic or expert trying to explain things. Keep up the good work
This is amazing!! Brother!
Subscribed😊 Amazingly relaxing content.
Since NWF likes to cover the deep sea, they should make a video on the lantern fish because it’s literally everywhere down there
Good suggestion - thanks 😉
Thank you for putting some much time and research into your videos
Love this channel... great content, superb narration... lovely voice
You were made for this, all of your videos are perfect. Every single video you have I'm so interested in. I love your channel sooooooooo much. I'm pretty sure we're the same age and I can't believe you started this channel when you were around 8, that's so incredible. You are so good at what you do, keep it up
This is so lovely of you, thank you for being so supportive 💛💛
Enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
Thank you for another exciting post. I really enjoy the way you take different subjects, parse them out and then put forth a conclusion bringing all the constituent parts into focus. I loved this subject as well.
Since many of these species are new to us, would you please consider putting the name for each new creature on a bottom corner? I keep watching these incredible and fantastic creatures with my jaw agape and wondering (aloud!) what on earth these preposterous animals could be and what they are called!
Throughly enjoy every single video you upload 🖖👍💪
Quality video documentaries!
Thank you for the new video ^^ 💙
