Alien World of Deep Sea Vents

  • Hydrothermal Vents provide the necessary components for a deep sea community of organisms to form. Here, at depths of 2000 metres or more, life gathers around hydrothermal vents in great numbers. Hot, mineral-rich fluids supply chemicals and nutrients, which form the basis of a food web for a diverse community of specialised organisms. An oasis of life in the deep.
    Since their discovery in 1977 near the Galapagos Rift, hydrothermal vents have redefined our understanding of the requirements for life to survive. Up to that point, we had thought all life depended on sunlight to survive, but this extreme ecosystem represents the only place on Earth where the ultimate source of energy for life is not sunlight, but the Earth itself.

    How beautiful. How perfectly, wonderfully beautiful it is to belong to such a resilient planet as the life which needs no light. We are blessed to behold this spectacle, but was it not by sheer happenstance? Could we not have gone on for forever and never known this is possible?
    It must be true, what the ancient Chinese said all along: the Earth was formed from turbulent, chaotic energies. The power which emanates from the core and through the mantle is enough to sustain life on its own. We rely as much on this power, which is our planet, as we rely on our star's light.

    • @NaturalWorldFacts
      @NaturalWorldFacts  3 года назад +3

      Beautifully and perfectly said! And the discovery also made theories about life on other planets more viable. There are frozen oceans on other planets, which we once thought could not contain life. But now we can theorise that there are similar vents beneath the surface that could host a variety of organisms.

      The Rememberer; It made me cry, knowing that the love we find in this moment will live on forever.
      You Will Never Do Anything Remarkable; I have not laughed that hard in a hot minute! It warms my heart to be told to dare to guess that there is in fact such a thing as something new under the sun!
      and then we'll be okay; That was very painful to hear, that the best thing to do is let go of the pain. It's so easy to want to cling to our suffering, once it has happened, because we don't want it to be all for nothing, and to ask the question, "What would happen if it was all for nothing," examines the wager that the acceptance of this truth is when we are truly okay.

    So there unique and specialised. How could that be the possible start of life on the surface? Wouldn't the organisms and bacteria die if there away from "home" and there food sources? It's a Theory, but your trying to make it sound as fact. You know not everyone drinks the kool-aid?

    The viewers may be interested in models I have published for both the origin of life (plants) and later the emergence of metazoan animals in submarine hydrothermal vents. Concerning the animals, the siphonophore zooids would have emerged during the Late-Protozoic Snowball Earths, when they would have lived on heat (not food nor light!): i.e., while the oceans were covered by ice the zooids would have lived on primary production based on the thermal gradients above submarine hydrothermal vents. Higher animals would have descended from the siphonophores after the Snowball Earths ended and the colonies could live on food resulting from primary production by the reemerged sunlight.

    This presentation makes the vents unnecessarily "mysterious." The vents are "micro" volcanoes (as the vid sort of gets around to explaining @5:29. The Hydrogen Sulfide, SO2, CO and CO2 that is food to these deep sea lifeforms kills oxygen-breathing creatures. Also missed are the archaea - a non carbon-based life form that may excrete complex hydrocarbons (think oil/natural gas) and SO2, H2SO4 or at minimum be capable of surviving in acid and at very-high temperature.
    But those of you thinking this "proves" Darwin's theory are failing to notice how slowly natural-random selection and survival of the fittest works (or more accurately, doesn't work). The non-evolution of these vent creatures is evidence how slowly species "evolve." Tiny changes; sure. But the Cambrian explosion shows no fossil record that is the precursor or missing link that gives an evolutionary explanation to the sudden appearance of incredibly-varied and completely "evolved" life forms. The 15-million-year fossil record in the Cambrian layer and some simple probability calculations debunk darwin.

    How are they able to survive? 🤦🏻‍♀️ just like every other breathing living created being, we have a Creator that gives life to all. How asinine are people to truly believe He does not exist but “aliens” do - name in the title of this video.
