You don't have to talk to villagers once you find out they're moving. In fact, I would recommend ignoring them because Nintendo went "you know what would be really annoying and unnecessary?" and made villagers decide not to move if you say goodbye.

i repeatedly hit a snobby villager in my town with an axe and pushed her into pitfall seeds so that she would move away. she was the only one that stayed.
I remember my favorite villager (Aurora) told me that she wanted to move out and I was much younger when she asked me this and I was so conflicted cause I wanted her to stay but I also wanted her to be happy and if she wanted to move then she should move. So I did and I loaded the game back up today and she is back in my town in the exact place she was back in 2013. (So much time has passed)

I got pinged and the guy said he was gonna move, and I say goodbye or good for you and then he said he thinks we're not good enough friends so he's gonna stay so we can get to know each other better 😭
Same thing happened to me, so I turned off my game without saving, tt'd to the day he said he was moving, then bam. Problem solved until the next day when someone else moved in the exact same spot 😭😭
I have my own method that works a lot faster than any method I've tried so far. My method is to talk to the villager 2 to 3 times every few days and that gets them out in less than 2 weeks

That's why amiibo support is my absolute favorite thing that was added to the game!! All you need to do is scan an amiibo and if you already have 10 villagers you can just decide who leaves. So easy, I love it so much!
Chelsea N. You just have to have the Amiibo Cards of the Villagers that you want in your town and then speak to the ghost in the lamp that you get in the beginning of the game. If you hold down your amiibo card you can choose if that villager should move into your town or if you want to get an item from them! It’s really easy

hello, i have a question. does anyone know if scanning in a villager with an amiibo card and asking them to move in can override the 16 villager cycle rule? for example, i moved out ankha since her home location was pretty bad. only a couple of villagers have moved out since she did, so i definitely wouldn't be able to even ask her to move back in while she's in boxes in another town because of the 16 villager rule. what i'm wondering is if scanning in her amiibo card completely ignores that rule so that she could already move back in. i feel like it should work, considering that an amiibo card is technically a paid "accessory" for the game, so the player should be able to get what they want with it, yknow? but if anybody can confirm, that'd be rad. thank you

You know you don't have to time travel to move out an unwanted villager, you can ignore them, never talk to them or anything. The animals have a "Being Wanted" trait and if you ignore them they won't feel wanted and will move
Correct. But normally when people want to move out a villager, they want to do it ASAP, and this is how to achieve that as quickly and efficiently as possible.
I've had ACNL for a really long time, so I've realized this - Villagers are more likely to want to move out if they're close to you than if you're ignoring them. I know this because I've had terrible luck with villagers, but I could be completely wrong..

Actually once you find out a villager is planning to move it's better to continue ignoring them since they might decide to change their minds if you talk to them, even if you tell them to leave. You don't need them to tell you about their plans to leave for them to actually leave so ignoring them doesn't come with the risk of them changing their minds.
True! Played new leaf again couple of weeks ago. Lionel asked to move out and I said yes then later changed his mind and stayed. So dont continue to NOT talk to them until theyre in boxes then u can say goodbye to them.

In my experience, make sure to talk them them once every week. When town is full, a villager should ask to move every 10 days or so. It will be random, but as long as you talk to the villager once a week, they will have the ability to come up to you and say they want to move. If they change their mind, just quit without saving
Honestly i think that Nintendo should stop patching hacks because then that is just unfair to the player, because i want to hack MY town but I can't hack MY town because Nintendo patched it for the new update, its our games and our towns. Nintendo shouldn't have a say in if we decide to hack or not.
Yeah! My town will never look as nice as hers because Nintendo is patching hacks. How else will I be able to design my town exactly how I want? It's not as if this game is specifically multiplayer and we're cheating to get new stuff that will make us OP.

Super late but dont loose hope. Normally it cycles the villagers. Just completely ignore the villager u want to move out. Every start of the day, prioritize getting a ping from that villager in hopes he will say that it'll move out. Theres a guide online for that u can look up
i want coco and zucker in my town again. when they moved out i cried and i thought they would get replaced by villagers as perfect as them, but no. i get *limberg* . my town is filled with ugly rats
This is why you're not meant to time travel more than 2 days! 😆 Try to be more careful next time, it'd be pretty bad if you were to lose another of your favorites (that is, if you still have a favorite).

Coming back to ACNL after seeing it'll take almost a year for ACNH to release... I really want to make a new mayor, new town... but don't want to get rid of my years of progress. Luckily, on the Switch, each profile will have its own island? (I think) So that'll be a total game changer!
Back on the gamecube version if I had a villager I didn't like I would dig holes around the door or use sign post. They would just stand there all sad and when the fall festival came I could do this to all the villages to avoid having my clothes burned while farming Jack.

I found out a trick to gett hem out quick, wear your king tut mask and talk to the villager you want to move out and they'll get out, dont talk to villagers you like tho while wearing it.

In my experience, make sure to talk them them once every week. When town is full, a villager should ask to move every 10 days or so. It will be random, but as long as you talk to the villager once a week, they will have the ability to come up to you and say they want to move. If they change their mind, just quit without saving

Honestly i think that Nintendo should stop patching hacks because then that is just unfair to the player, because i want to hack MY town but I can't hack MY town because Nintendo patched it for the new update, its our games and our towns. Nintendo shouldn't have a say in if we decide to hack or not.
Yeah! My town will never look as nice as hers because Nintendo is patching hacks. How else will I be able to design my town exactly how I want? It's not as if this game is specifically multiplayer and we're cheating to get new stuff that will make us OP.

I'm having an issue getting a villager to want to move out that I brought in from an amiibo Card.. literally everyone in my town has pinged me several times to move and I can't get the one I want rid of to ping me 😭😭😭
Super late but dont loose hope. Normally it cycles the villagers. Just completely ignore the villager u want to move out. Every start of the day, prioritize getting a ping from that villager in hopes he will say that it'll move out. Theres a guide online for that u can look up
i want coco and zucker in my town again. when they moved out i cried and i thought they would get replaced by villagers as perfect as them, but no. i get *limberg* . my town is filled with ugly rats

This is why you're not meant to time travel more than 2 days! 😆 Try to be more careful next time, it'd be pretty bad if you were to lose another of your favorites (that is, if you still have a favorite).

Back on the gamecube version if I had a villager I didn't like I would dig holes around the door or use sign post. They would just stand there all sad and when the fall festival came I could do this to all the villages to avoid having my clothes burned while farming Jack.

I have a villager that moved in, his name is gruff. He moved into my ONLY PATCH OF GOLD ROSES
I love Gruff, but he doesn't give two hoots about the landscaping. Never saw him water or pick a weed.

I found out a trick to gett hem out quick, wear your king tut mask and talk to the villager you want to move out and they'll get out, dont talk to villagers you like tho while wearing it.
