I used to love listening to Ventura tear into Vince right in the middle of a match. He had no fear of him whatsoever and told it like it is
Back before many of us knew Vince was their boss. I remember thinking "Man, these wrestlers seem to really respect this announcer, Vince. He must be good at his job" LOL
Jesse has a healthy ego but he does have integrity.... I'm glad he lived to see Vince's downfall.

@@ibanezprestigeboy I think Gorilla and Bobby were better when they were commentating after a match than during it. They were gold on Prime Time Wrestling. I've been watching old episodes of that for months, and darn they make me laugh.

Jesse was my all-time favorite commentator. He was supposedly a heel, but only because he was honest and would call out how faces, especially Hogan, would get special treatment for heel behavior.
Like Rock, Austin, and Cena.

Really hope this leads to Ventura doing guest commentary one more time. He last did it with Vinnie Mac 15 years ago and hadn't lost a beat.

Can't blame Jesse for being a little "out of touch" with today's wrestling scene, to me it just shows that he's got enough on his mind to not cling to the "glory days" as much. But it was so nice seeing him back, even if just as a visitor, because you alway knew he loved the business.
The biggest thing that could come from this would be my dream come true, Jesse's voice as commentary on the video games. That would be insane.

I don’t think he has it anymore. I ain’t against him trying but I would hate to see him “eat shit” in a national stage. The last time I saw him speaking in public was a heated discussion in some form of the Minnesota government when they were passing the laws for legal pot. He told a great personal perspective and was very much much engaged but the transitions while he was talking was kind of whimsical.

Schiavone and Jesse were also an underrated team. Working with Jesse was where Tony really was able to be more himself instead of acting the way an announcer was expected to act which was becoming passe.

One of Venturas best lines for me was at W6 for Warrior/Hogan... Warrior's entrance gets a huge pop as usual and Ventura responds with "I think that's a big mistake Ultimate Warrior is gonna be out of gas before the match even starts!" ... not word for word but that cracks me up to this day.
this is great news i guess vince Mcmahon being forced out of WWE is the reason why jesse ventura is back anyone remember that one episode of raw where he and vince McMahon did commentary together in 2009 that was awesome.

Love Jesse, he was one of the best, in the ring and on the mic. I just wish he would have done some commentary, he was one of the best at it. I loved it when he would tell Vince to shup up. Brian does a great impression of Jesse.

Jesse Ventura was an absolutely great commentator, exactly for all the reasonsJim and Brian detail here. He was great as a heel favouring voice, but also put over the genuine excitement of the awesome occasions of events like WrestleManias 3 and 6, and openly marvelled at the sheer talent of babyfaces like Bret Hart and the Bulldogs: l still remember him remarking about Dynamite kid “when l was wrestling, l’d have to have a stuntman doing that for me!”
Remember during PPVs, he'd always go, "I'd like to say hello to Terry, Tyrell, and Jade - back in Minnesota!"
Gorilla would respond with, "I hear they're good friends of yours".
Only years later would I find out, that was his family he was giving a shout out to lol

I always mention Monsoon and Ventura. It’s probably why I was harsh for many years. And contrary to what most say. I was never found of JR
The worst thing about JR - to me - was Jerry Lawler sitting next to him. Talk about a guy who was as funny as bleeding inflamed haemorrhoids. Plus, even in the different pop-cultural climate back then, his dirty old man schtick was just embarrassing and off-putting after a while - not to mention unbelievably annoying and tedious, because it was just the same drooling lecherous horny grandpa garbage over and over and over, for YEARS.
I don't mind occasional innuendos, suggestiveness, or racy jokes at all if they're clever, genuinely funny and delivered well. Quite the opposite, really. But absolutely NOTHING about Lawler's schtick was clever or even remotely funny. Not even in the cultural context of that era. He just came across like that filthy sweaty uncle who tries to molest his nieces at family functions.

Well he’s an older gentleman so I imagine his memory isn’t as great as it used to be, especially when he’s only met some people a handful of times and doesn’t really keep up with the product
Rodney Dangerfield was so awesome. I just watched him on Carson & then how Carson ended up black listing him from The Tonight Show. Speaking of "Back to School" and people I miss greatly, Sam F'n Kinison!!!!

Jesse The Body Ventura plus Superstar Billy Graham equals Hulk Hogan
Both are just copies of Superstar
If Graham hadn't already been over forty, broken down, disillusioned, and tired of his old gimmmick, there likely would have never been a "Hulkamania". Hogan was almost exactly ten years younger than Graham and willing/able to do whatever it took, so he got the assignment. Otherwise it could have been "Superstarmania". Graham looked as if he had aged 20 years between 1978 and 1983.
Graham became that weird smaller "Karate G. Gordon Liddy" guy instead for a while and had his hip replacement surgery featured on WWF's TV. Did I say "weird"? Because that was WEIRD. By late 1987, he was a complete wreck at barely 44 years old and had to retire. Imagine Hulk Hogan having to hang it up between Wrestlemania III and IV...
The story about Jesse Ventura was interesting, but the ad was gold 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
