Not quite. KXJB still signs off Monday mornings for 2-3 hours. The video seen here was even updated to reflect changes made due to the DTV transition. I'll try to get a more current sign-off posted soon.
KXJB merged newscasts with KVLY less than a year later. Signature and Stravinsky, the respective packages for KXJB and KVLY, were replaced by separate 615 packages (or that is until full consolidation into a singular brand in 2008).
I knew that both KXJB & KVLY combined newscasts, but I didn’t know it was a year later! That’s pretty cool, now Forum Communications (WDAY) has reached a purchasing agreement with KVRR, but there’s some stuff that needs to be worked out before the FCC approves it… so we might see a second one down the road
@@NateOnThe-Radio Looks like Forum wants to corner KVLY, and for right reason lol They are in a pretty vulnerable position wise with Gray ownership tbh
That is a rather a unique way for the station to use their down time after sign-off - A live camera & tune in the NOAA weather bot in Fargo. Some TV stations will just fade to black at sign off & won't even bother showing a test pattern/muzak or leave you with "snow" after powering down the transmitter.
Yes, all of the CBS affiliates in ND have call letters beginning with KX. Besides KXJB, there's KXMA (Dickinson), KXMB (Bismarck), KXMC (Minot), and KXMD (Williston). At one time all the stations had the same owner and were branded as "KX Television." The KX 4 name is a legacy of this, despite the fact that KXJB was eventually sold off and split up from the rest of the KX stations in the state.
No color bars and tone, just NOAA weather? Funny strange if you ask me. BTW, the Transguide in San Antonio was similar, but wasn't used during one of the stations off-air hours, IIRC.
David Delony They Used To Play The National Anthem (SSB) Set To A Film With American Pictures, And They Used To Show Color Bars During The "Off Air"Hours, But They Got Rid Of The National Anthem In Like 2000, And The Color Bars Were Replaced With A LIVE Skycam With Audio From NOAA National Weather Service Radio Playing In The Background
KAUZ in Wichita Falls, Texas does about the same thing except they have a radar loop on the screen. I cannot stand that weather radio voice, if I woke up to that in the middle night I would sh** myself thinking I was having a bad dream.
@WTHRZ the first sounded like a secondary emergency alert system voice, and the other sounded like the old Paul voice used in the emergency alert systems activations from 1999 to 2016.
KCCI in Des Moines, IA used to have this music for the newscasts!
It just switches to the Live Cam and NOAA Radio? The station at Ft. Smith Arkansas switches to the Dopplar Radar covering the area.
I remember seeing this at 1.00 AM. I was in 6th grade at this time and loved TV sign-offs!
I'd rather watch static than the infomercials

I miss the old weather radio voices. And I wish TV stations still went off air at night.

At first, i was wondering what stations do sign-off, until i saw it was from Fargo, ND. I suppose NOAA is better than those infomericals. Agreed?
That must be a tower cam or one of the many weather cameras these stations have.

I didn't they think they did this "off-the-air" business at all in the 21st century.
Does anyone know what happened to the video of KXJB sign off 2001? I can't find the video.
They should have that here on The New york and NJ channels.
How many station do the NOAA weather radio sign off?
I'd much rather hear the beeping and see the colorbars, than watch the Informercials.
I agree.
@thetoolman112394 Inorite? I'd rather have these sign-offs than all these infomercials. Who buys PillowPets at 3 in the morning? LOL
Very cool, how did you get that?
Get what?
Never mind.
Sorry. :P
No "Star-Spangled Banner"?

Yeah...sounds like some signoff script written in the 1980s or something.

who watches TV at 1.08 AM?
thetoolbox112394 If I was concerned about the snow, I would be.
That Stephen Hawking sound is terrible.
I don't think that's Stephen Hawking's computer voice. That's one of the NOAA weather radio voices.
@@wthrz I agree with you
@@wthrz Wonder why they use that voice, when they have better ones (like the one preceding it in this recording)?

People who can't sleep - because they need a new pillow. :-)
