HR007! I just picked this up a week or two ago. Super smooth drill, and definitely agree the cheaper price make it way more appealing.

Thumbs up again for the Makita content - i'm on the hunt for a hammer which takes the portable dust attachment.

All the new ones do! Including all the 40v ones

@@BoltahDownunder Thanks for the response - here in the UK hardly any of the big power tools stores are selling it is bare unit WITH the extractor and lots of places with the extractor in stock are very small stores that i've never heard of.
I went with the DHR183 with extractor in the end as I have 12 LXT 4.0/5.0ah batteries that I could warrant moving to 40v for. I only drill 5.5mm, 6mm & 8mm holes on occassion.
      Great content on Makita stuff.

I've noticed when using the drill that the speed change is more obvious as pressure is applied and slows down when you release.

I use 2 Hilti’s at the same time for drilling plywood/battens anchors for timber flooring. I think I’ll go for the 007 D handle longer better for the back and cheaper then buying the new hilti nuron x2- $3200 vs x2- $900

I can tell you a bit experiment i had at the seminar
I had tried both 008(same model to 009 ) and 007 , 008 even slower rpm than 007 , but the strength i feel it even more than 007 , higher torque compare to 007 , and even heavier 😅 007 is a bit nicer to use because of its weight and balance , 008 powerful but too heavy to use for longtime , but if you need to drill big diameters , 008 is recommended

Yes good to hear. I have a few of the biggest SDS plus and this is basically it. They hit slow so don't drill that fast in small holes, but in large holes (like 25mm up) they're the only thing that'll work

Maybe the difference between 4 and 5 speed can be showh only under some load? 🤔

Great Vid as always Boltah appreciate the effort put in.
How are you liking the 40v Platform? Worth the upgrade?
    Hope you're well mate!

Cheers mate. I'm probably not the best one to ask as I've only used the rotary hammers! But in general the platform seems great. Looking fwd to seeing how big the tools get with the 2*40v

The 007 doesn’t come with the hook, the hook is about $25. I’d take the 001 over the 007 because of the variable speed dial, works good for running re bar cutting bits. There’s isn’t many cordless variable speed dial sds plus on the market either.

You are one of the few who tested the Metabo rotary hammer. Do you think that one will be better? This is what the test result looks like.

You're paying for compact size with almost the same power. The compact will be able to do 99% of all jobs. The longer D handle will do 90% but you will run into need of something more compact. If you can afford only 1 I'd say the compact, if you got money get both.🤑

      Double edged sword.
I use D-handles often when digging post holes (usually around 10"-12" in diameter & 42"-48" deep) when I hit rock/concrete/asphalt e.t.c...
I also find them superior when chipping on a horizontal surface, and prefer drilling up (which is rare) with them.
They're ergonomically nicer drilling down & I appreciate just generally being further away from the dust.
I've used both styles extensively & can't remember an application when I needed the compact length.
I'm sure such situations could exist, but in 20 years of mixed carpentry work, my experience has not required that.

Built a tamping plate setup for SDS Plus / my DCH263 :-) cost my 12 bucks, 5 for a Chinese Makita pointed SDS plus bit and 7 for a Taiwanese Teng 14mm 12 point socket. 12mm plate 130x130, about 25mm square more of the same welded in the middle to take the abuse and a guide tube welded on top of that closely fits the hex of the pointed bit, and the 12 point part of the teng welded on top for angular control. Cut the point off the bit with it in the drill spinning slowly and the Mrs running water over the cut line as I cut it so it didn't get hot and go soft. Tested on some broken up clay filling some old stump holes in the lawn and worked okay, but will work way better on gravel as intended for by its maker :-) can I send you some pics somehow? Commercial ones are $200 and the Makita one is round which is no good for compacting gravel into corners.
