A core teaching that covers the 8 worldly winds, I find, from a Buddhist book I read entitled: Heartwood of the Boddhi Tree helps me deal with the 8 Vicissitudes in a more direct way and here it is: "Nothing whatsoever should be clung to as "I" or "mine"." What happens when we remember that is that it turns us towards inner work and growth work of healing and transformation. BUT, all roads lead to Rome anyway and there are many roads!! 🙏🌺 appreciating this interview
A loaded subject... or I should say, a loaded word: confidence. That immediately conjures for me ego!! The dialogue though is excellent. It is honest and real and very helpful!! What I appreciate is working with this relative reality and our experiences in it in a real down-to-earth way. The book sounds great for practical stuff that we deal with everyday! Very much needed. Thank you.
I ♥️ this: “It’s not about having a solution, it’s about having a path” & the line about wishing - as a very competent & caring woman - that I could muster *half the confidence of a mediocre white man* (
Ethan's point of using ego in service of Buddha nature... YES! That IS the place of ego - to be servant of spirit/true nature/Buddha nature but NOT to run the show - as it is doing mainly on the planet with all the dysfunction and the distortion.
“Outmoded gender binary” … Hmmm 🤔 That’s not painful at all to hear … especially in this usually very inclusive space. There’s so much to learn here & you chose to comment on that? I hope things go a bit better for you from here on out 🌻
This. A commitment to Buddhist ethics is profoundly self-confidence building, in my experience. Thanks as always!
