The lowest quality oils on the market are Stihl oils. The only oild JASO FB... All other oils on the market are at least FC and FD. Avoid Stihl and you are golden!
Just picked one up today..didn't receive the wrench or safety glasses...never owned a leaf blower and have been raking tons of leaves for years....this machine is fantastic and your video is excellent...thank you very much...👍
That premixed fuel is insanely expensive, and you’re a little misleading when you talk about how much longer the shelf life is than “regular gas”. Anyone can go buy ethanol free fuel and mix the oil in and have the same shelf life for about 1/8th the cost.
@3:10: "Choke is attached to the throttle trigger." those are the magic words man wasn't gonna start if i kept holding that throttle trigger down. thank you!
this model can also work as a (not sure the terminology) suction, meaning i can blow the leaves and also suck the leaf inside and routed it to a bag attached to it. For that to become a suction blower something inside needs to be done like reversed or something, can you show us how that is done?
would be nice if you had a close up view to see #1 Choke and #2 spark arrestor . The cameras is so far back that you an see the neighbors house but no detail
I love Stihl machines but I have the HS86C, I exclusively use it as a vac, for which it is great. however, as a blower it not a patch on my Husky 525 BX or Makita MM4! With regards to the fuel, with the amount I use, shelf life is not an issue so non ethanol is just way too expensive. Just make sure you buy high grade 2 stroke and it will basically do the same thing but much much cheaper!
I got mine at Fresno ag would of been nice if the guy sold me one with cruise control he didn’t even mention that to me I got home tried it for like 5 or 10 minutes and started thinking where is the cruise control lever it doesn’t have one now I’m stuck with it 🤬
You forgot to mention a great feature of the 86...the anti-vibration springs. This is a great unit. Easy to maintain. Have had mine for 5 years so far. Just replaced the impeller as i use the vacuum a lot, and stone bark, as well as lava rock, do damage to the impeller.
I have a SH 86 C . This winter I was using it to blow light dry snow off my side walks. It lost power so I added more motomix. Still did not seem like full rpm's. Plug, tank filter, and exhaust looked good(cleaned screen anyway). As far as I could tell top of piston looked good and compression was good. I have since bought a new plug and tank filter but have not messed with it since. Any suggestions? I also have 2 Stihl backpack blowers and 1 combi system blower.
Have you checked the carburetor? If you have good compression, no blockages, and good spark I would look to the carburetor. If you haven't cleaned it for a while it could have a clog. Could also be a bad carburetor. Good idea to pressure test it and, if it's good, clean and rebuild it with a carb kit.
Great presentation. I just bought a used machine and went thru everything short of opening the case. It runs great and idles perfect. Here is my question. I know the cruise, normal operation spot and the shutoff position. I seem to find a lever position between the cruise and the normal position that enables the machine to idle but when I tilt the machine downward it idles up to about 1/3 throttle. I did this a few times and it does this every time. Is this a factory feature or an abnormality on mine? Thanks
Sounds like machine could be “leaning out”. Several causes, one simple one is the fuel filter is not staying submerged, or there’s a crack in a fuel line. A couple areas to check.
Great information/great video.... I wish more dealers would care/take the time to make excellent how to videos, your customer service level seems to be too shelve!! Keep up the great work! 👍🏼
@@polarlab113 nice work! I agree it is something that once understood can be done and it is all good until we lean them out to much or hide another problem. Many people are not comfortable doing to much tweaking of the carb and a properly maintained machine needs very little.
@@Carlsmower Its the truth I had some pieces of 3 2x6s glued together was trying out a NEW 3/8 chain and yes I cut about a 20 penny nail. It was nailed on second board so you didnt see it. Top board covered it. Used cheap electric grinder to fix but 1 tooth was afu
Truebuilt glues and nails their long 6x6 supports. Thats nothing I have a maple tree and its a weird one with large pieces of bark right by the pole barn. I meant to cut it down about 10 yrs ago but I must have still drank beer back then or had bigger fish to fry. I feel like knotching it and let the wind take it but has to be a strong southern wind or will get part of house and mash piss out of pole barn!! Maybe Ill bump up insurance!!!
The premixed fuel is a ripoff.I use premium gas and Stihl oil my machinery lasts eons. I can’t afford in a yard work business,to use gas like that so proper maintenance is the key.it’s not a magic bullet.there are none.periodic tuning and maintenance is the key.
it's not a rip off. Its convenient for people who don't use their blower everyday, and aren't interested in mixing fuel and oil. 2 litres would cover most homeowners blower usage for a season.
Buy a Echo. I've never seen a anything made by Stihl that runs as good as a Echo. I have one of these but it takes 5 pulls to start and you have to pump the bubble at least 3-5 times or it will not start. My echo, prime it once and fires first or second pull.
Also this is the worst peace of equipment I ever wasted money almost 300 bucks for some that breaks dow. Within the first 4 months of use and a whole year later needed to be replaced echo is way better for a hand held blower
Awesome blower. Used for 3 years and the only negatives things I can say is the muffler is rusting. ALWAYS garage kept 🤷🏼♂️ and it does use a lot of fuel
I have the same thing on my muffler and I just got it in April of 2022. Part of it must be because I use it to blow light snow, etc. I have been finding that if you apply vegetable oil to a cooled but warm muffler it helps to keep the metal better. Like seasoning a pan.

No. Even premium gas degrades.

Fuel /oil ratio for stihl blower
I run good fuel balls to the wall most people do on a blower. No exaust issues
Great Video! Thank you so Much! I love my
echo has that 2620 for 199 2520 149 which is fine for most people.
I dont remember posting that. Never heard of 2620 and 2520?????

How much for a weekend warrior model? $200 or more
The BG56 sell for under $200
Physics 101: you don't lose volume wit the flat nozzle. The volume is constant. What changes is the speed (increases) and the pressure (decreases).
