Dear Ben, I've had many tanks over the years(30) & have experienced many of the issues which you shared.
What I'm currently doing is using multiple power strips to not overload one. One FX6, LED light, heater & HOB filter in each of the 2 strips on my 125 gallon.
Looking forward to more videos from you in the coming year. God Bless..

That last "Bad Thing" reminds me of what I did to myself three times. The best solution I have found (after the 3rd time because Im slow to learn) is using several separate power sources now. What I do is I leave the sponge filter plugged into the wall, and everything else is plugged into a power sprip. Obviously, that doesn't help if I lose power to the fish room, but it guarantees that if the power strip fails, I at least have some surface movement/gas exchange taking place.
On a side note, I couldn't agree with you more. One of the best things that has happened in the last few years is meeting people in the hobby. People like yourself, who Im honored to call friend now.

Love the video Ben. I had the same issue with my Echo Flow Battery Backup Tripped the breaker on a strip. So from that time forward I plug it straight into the wall and have no issues

Ben I had two Albino Threadfin Acara's......I have one remaining. The one that died started to swim very oddly, flip upside down, surface bob, and snap out of it out of nowhere. I assumed it was an internal parasite from bloodworms.....after a while I felt for the little guy suffering, being attacked by my other fish, I had to put him down with some clove oil. But the other is thriving.

Close call on your power strip/ 300G. It truly is amazing when you think of something small to go back to a room that ended up saving what could've been detrimental. Glad to hear that all is well. 😁 👍

Always determine the max power consumption of all devices plugged into a power strip. If the sum of those draws more power than the design spec, you'd be risking far more than that 300 gallon aquarium, as house fires have started this way.

Whew!..so pleased you averted the water disaster. I think that you actually checked in on your fish room and you were paying attention needs to be lauded. That alarm system you chose really did its job too. '
I hadn't checked my temperature in my tanks with my battery op temperature gauge. When I did I saw a couple heaters were off too many degrees to my liking so I think that this brand must not last more than a couple years. Point being is that it doesn't pay to be on auto pilot with any type of aquarium equipment. Kind of woke me up.

Mr. Ben Ochart. I have a great update. It’s so obvious to me now that I hadn’t added pinky floss to the second fx6 I bought with the 180. Once I did that, plus a couple of fluval fine pads, the tank went back to looking pristine🔥😎

    Ben,
I appreciate this video and lots of good stuff you mentioned and other trials that you went through. I recently lost my Altifrons. I have no idea how the fish died. My water parameters were dialed in. That’s two geos that have died on me for no reason. I am not going to keep geos anymore. My rainbow fish are also dieing randomly for no reason what so ever. I don’t know if it’s poor genetics or something else? Well I am finally going to keep AF cichlid tank. I am going to keep MBUNA. I beefed up my stand and stained it a darker color. I am beefing it up because it’s a 4 ft tank but tall. So I am going to build rock caves going up the middle. I am excited to finally keep AF cichlids. I am also resealing my 100 gal tank the tank is older and the silicone is worn down so I am going to add a black silicone in all the corners. I like the look of black silicone. Here’s to 2025 and fish keeping.

Ben Ochart. Congrats on things getting brighter in 2025. Sounds like you’re moving on from the Fx6😮. Is this correct?

I didn't like the Aqueon tanks because I felt that the build quality of those tanks looked weak. I'm sorry you had issues with the 55's.
I ended up buying Aquarium Masters 90 gallon, 29 & 10 from my local fish store. Price wasn't cheap but they are very well built and no issues after 9 months. The glass is thicker than the Aqueon brand.
You definitely avoided a catastrophic fish loss! Glad you caught the power strip tripping off. Good job!

Happy Thanksgiving Ben. Man i didn't realize you loss the albino treadfin acaras. If i remember correctly you got them from. Dan's fish and that itself is a surprise loss cause his fish are pretty strong but i would let him know so maybe he can make sure his suppliers are aware of the poor genetics cause dan wants to know about these types of issues even if its sometime after purchase? Thanks for sharing

Bren wow about the power strip issue. Something to consider for future that everything is plugged into it. Wonder if there is one that sends a signal its off via Wi-Fi.. On that note I Love my water alarms they also send a Wi-Fi signal to my phone letting me know no matter where I am.

I'm so gutted to hear that your albino acara have proved to be a bit short lived. They are such a beautiful fish, it's just about typical ,and the way these altered genetics seems to work. Such a shame Ben.

Mr. Ben Ochart. In a 125, my Fx6, aqua clear 110,and large internal filter kept my water pristine. I moved up to a 180 plus added an fx6 to all of that and not satisfied with water clarity. What size sump would you suggest if I keep one fx6 plus aqua clear?
