  • Probably the best meal you'll cook if you like a really tender beefy flavor dish. And the rice is cooked in the broth that comes from the short ribs... don't get no better!!! And a great source of Collagen

    You should try this with Ox cheek or Osso buco too. You can shred the ox cheek and pack it into a puck, then soak in a sauce of your liking. Unreal flavours

    I love short ribs and I really love the video. I’ve never tried to do it with rice I’ll have to try that

    Used to be a cut that nobody wanted. I remember one restaurant had braised short ribs every Saturday night but had to get there early because sold out quickly. Now beef shorts ribs are very expensive and all of the stores around me slice off most of the beef (selling it as boneless short ribs) and you end up buying mostly bone. You have some pretty good cut. I would sear the meat first though. The bone adds flavor. I use short ribs for my beef stew, much better than cubed pot roast. Got to love that gooey fat.

    Thanks for the video, John. We love shortribs, too. I was also going to ask about searing the ribs first. I think it makes the dish looks nicer. I've missed you! I haven't seen this new model Foodi!

      I think that would be a good idea just adds a step and you would need to clean the pot before continuing... if I were to do it I would probably do it at the end and would probably use a torch as I did in some of my sous vide videos...

    I have the Ninja Foodi Pro Pressure cooker and mine didn’t come with a pan like the one you cooked your ribs in. Any ideas of a pot/cooking dish I can buy to cook these ribs in my Foodi? I love beef ribs!

    Hi John, your videos are great as always !! I would like to know which Airfryer is better option Ninja Samrtlid or T-Fal 3 in 1 with steamer to achieve well done beef inside and Grill effect outside ! I prefer well done bbq grill meat !

    • @JohnSanders
      @JohnSanders  2 года назад

      I haven't tried the T Fal but I do like the idea of steaming with air fry but I say that this unit does a couple more functions such as pressure cooking with a thermometer and that is really handy

    Great video John. I’m going to cook these tomorrow. I noticed you didn’t brown them first. Do you think it’s worth the trouble or is this just right.

    • @JohnSanders
      @JohnSanders  2 года назад +1

      It might be but in my opinion it would only add to the presentation... and maybe add a little flavor but...i was not sure it would be worth the added step of cleaning out of the pot before doing the initial pressure cook... If I were going to do browning I would probably do it after the final pressure cook stage and I would probably use a torch and not the sear function... but...the units sear function would work also...

      I would pressure cook with the browned bits in the pan. It would infuse the rice with flavor

    Can't agree with most of you. While I love short ribs, a dish that doesn't even have basic salt and pepper sounds about as bland as possible. Think I'll pass on this.
