    Hello Po that boat runs out really good I figured it would be fast because of the size of it & being powered by a 25 hp 2 stroke .
    Bro if a wanted a extended steering section for that boat I wouldn't even think about a long handle ext off of control arm because your right you would have to stretch out farther on turns . I would set up a stick steering system on it if that's what I wanted . But I don't see anything wrong with it the way it is . QUESTION == Are you going to name that boat James?? If so what are you thinking 🤔?? Take care Kuya. Mabuhay. & God Bless yall 🙏.

      I have owned that boat many years. I named it Leo Frix after Melinda's late brother that passed at 19 yrs old and was such a smart young man with a bright future. It was brilliant. When Marvin took it briefly he renamed it after his son. I now am at a cross road to put its original name back or give it a new beginning with a new name. It will be a support boat to our diesel cabin cruiser. In the future as I establish better infrastructure for boats here at our place I may upgrade to a larger boat like a troller or catamaran. Our original plan when we bought this place was to but a live-a-board catamaran and beach it here on this lot during storm season. We planed to have the garage and outdoor cr/ shower but no house. I regret not following through with that. Now I may still do it - time will tell.

    James, the ready made extensions i have seen had a universal joint at the attachment point, you can steer lock to lock without the long reach you described. Only time I considered one was on a square stern canoe so I could shift my body weight forward for stability.

    If you can buy or engineer an extension with just the right curve to it, that should compensate for the wider arc to the steering the further up the boat you go. Since the distance to the captain's chair isn't that much, the curve shouldn't be too big either, so it should be manageable The downside is that you'd lose seating space at the back since the curved handle will take up space, but if there's a way you can make it removable so you can swap between the short or long curved handle bar, then you'd have the best of both worlds.

    • @TexasFilipino
      @TexasFilipino  Год назад +1

      it does not need a extension, I'm here driving it and it works perfect and easy

  • @abelincoln3261
    @abelincoln3261 Год назад +3

    I'm wondering why you didn't go with a rear transom plate ( Aluminum ) with adjustable tilt control? It would secure the motor as well as avoid damage to the boat itself and make it easier to remove and replace as well as if you went adjustable you could trim it out either manually or automatically.. with an automatic trim ... electric or hydraulic !

    • @TexasFilipino
      @TexasFilipino  Год назад +6

      this is a simple setup. Now your adding heavy setup and more complex for no reason Keep It Simple

    • @abelincoln3261
      @abelincoln3261 Год назад +3

      @@TexasFilipino The piece I am talking about mainly is a U shaped slide over plate that allows you to bolt your engine against it and not the boat itself. It protects your hull and you can get or make adjustable plates that help to trim your engine. I'm all about keeping things simple. I've had a lot of boats and wooden boats with engine bolted directly to them tend to give... the wood make be strong but the constant vibration and pressure isn't good for the boat.. So obviously it's up to you. Maybe ask someone there that's a boat builder see what they have to say... I always avoid bolted directly to wood... if possible.

    6:17 you turn the 2 handles so they're tight and place the handles together so the holes are close enough that you can put a lock between the 2 that way those dont come loose plus is a tiny bit of extra security for the motor.

    At least you and your wife have a very good sense of humor. Curious, does the boat come up to plane easily or do you think putting a dolphin fin on the outboard would help

    • @TexasFilipino
      @TexasFilipino  9 месяцев назад +3

      It is not a planing hull therefore it will not plane. It is a displacement hull more of a canoe type. No need for dolphin fin. Now speaking of planing.... I am going to upgrade the outriggers from plain bamboo. There is several choices I'm pondering to use and one of those choices would be making small planing outriggers that would a lifting effect and lesson the drag at higher speeds. It's not really about hauling ass with that boat but more about reliability and fuel efficiency. The little diesels have that too but...... those motors are not made for salt water which eats away the cowlings and every other external part. They are hand rope pulled which is pretty much fail proof but pain in the ass at the same time. They have no neutral which means point start and go only. I want my old style and modern all in one for myself.
