man this makes me really miss tech and the campus. I remembered moving in on my first day there. P.S enjoy your freshmen year as much as you can and also never buy textbooks just use the tech book page on fb cause students always sell them for cheaper or rent them unless you have no choice but have to buy them. You'll save a lot of money and you'll learn that sooner or later. Tech may seem like crappy campus looking but it is amazing and it'll start to grow on you more and more especially if you find your group of friends. Enjoy!
I just graduated from Tech last month and this video made me so nostalgic! I miss being a freshman and meeting everyone and living in the dorms! I know this was uploaded awhile ago and I assume you're through with your first year, but enjoy it! College went by way too fast for me! I'm glad to be done but I miss Lubbock haha
Congrats on going to Tech! I am currently living in Clement, however I don't really like the dining hall in Clement just because it doesn't have as many options as opposed to the dinning area in Stangel/Murdough or Talkington. These dorms just have more food options which is super convenient when living on campus. However the upside to Huelen/Clement's dinning area is that it is all gluten free, if that is something you need. If you ever have anymore questions feel free to send me an email! megantreger@yahoo.com
Gates/Wall isn't too bad either. I lived there for my freshman & sophomore year. Right across from the library and close to the Commons at Talkington and the Union building.
John Burk Congrats on your acceptance! Having your own fan is nice especially if you're in a room that doesn't have a thermostat. Black out curtains were something my roommate and I realized we needed because the rooms get pretty bright; figuring out how to hang those up is tricky though. And definitely having a laundry bag/basket that will be easy to get up and down the elevator going back and forth from the basement to your room. Having a rug to toss down on the floor that can be washed is nice, but not necessarily a necessity. Definitely invest in a mattress topper too. Having a brita filter for the room is nice so you aren't constantly having to buy water bottles. These are the only things I can come up with right now, but if I think of anything else I will definitely add to this comment!
I noticed you pulling a mass communications book out of your bag and was wondering what you are studying. I am considering attending tech to study electronic media and communications and would love to know what made you choose tech if you are interested in media and communications as well.
First off, congratulations! I got my tapestry from urban outfitters and the dimensions are 84"l x 100"h. It was actually a little big and I had to fold the bottom under and pin it up. And I just used push pins and never had any problems!

Megan Reger Thank you so much! I'm living in Murdough so that is good to hear :)
Kenzie Womack as a freshman I would say live in Murdough/Stangel! Their dining hall is the cheapest since everything is half priced!!!
