I'm sad and glad. Born and raised in Liverpool in 50's/ 60's 70-'s and not back for about 30 years . Wary of watching this in case I got maudlin/homesick but glad I did. Totally unrecognisable and looks like any other city . Maybe the older parts , St. Luke's , Adelphi etc.etc.
It was quite filty with rubbish in parts i should have filmed it really but some of it was awful round the back of matthew st Thanks for watching happy xmas to you to
I've not been in 'town' for ages. It's nice to see that TJ's is still going, albeit it a lot smaller than it was on London Road. I remember Elliot Street/Parker Street going onto Church Street, Lord Street and all around there, with nose to tail buses heading to the Pier Head and black cabs everywhere. How things change. Pretty soon, what you've filmed here will be Starmers' ideal Britain. No vehicles anywhere, no people anywhere, all just stuck at home, happy being unable to afford to do anything or go anywhere. Merry Chrimbo and Happy New Year.
Liverpool very quiet on Christmas day.some pharmacy open hope u and dad had nice Christmas day like drange planters use for good weather was nice pubs were open until 3pm great video
All the best George, great video, City centre is so different from my memories in the 70's and 80's. Looking forward to your 2025 videos, always a treat. Fred
All the best to you to The city centre isnt what it used to be yonks ago Gone are the times when id go to virgin to buy computer games then walk down to HMV Goodtimes and also sad times
I'd imagine no litter pickers out on Xmas day? Town's normally cleaner than this after the previous nights celebrations. Still, interesting to see it on Xmas day. All the best George.
I thought that because there was a lot of litter in places L1 had those security type people walking about but no people cleaning up the streets maybe today? Alla the best and thanks for watching
Staying right in the city centre, overlooking Liverpool one and was very quiet most of the morning, i had a quick walk after dinner early afternoon and a few posh restaurants were open with ppl that had paid obscene amounts of money for Xmas Dinner out! Mid to late afternoon and into the evening, I saw a massive increase of a certain community gathering around drawing attention to themselves....I wonder why!! That's about it!!
Thanks for the tour George 👍 I didn't know TJ Hughes were still trading...I remember there being a bomb threat in the one in Birkenhead, with everyone stood outside with their noses pressed to the windows trying to see what was going on 👀🤣💥
Loved Quiggins Centre. Recorded our band Demo there in 1991 at a recording studio called 'Q Music'. Liverpool has lost some of it's charm (as has a lot of other town centres) because of commercialisation and homogenisation :-( I used to work in Gostins in Hanover Street. Thanks for the video. Tony
Quiggins was boss wasnt it so many the cafe up top was rather nice to lovely egg on Liverpool has lost its charm i went the city xmas week and it didnt feel very christmassy at all Slowly gone down hill since capital of culture i think That gostins now sadly sits derelict id love to get in and take a nose Thanks for watching matey
Very nice, George. I have always wondered what town was like on a Christian day. Now i know. Great insight, I would have guessed it would be like a ghost town. 8 am shocked some shops were open ? I hope your dad enjoys his Christian dinner 🍽 .
Ive strangley wanted to do this for a number of years now and i was thinking it may just be me being there but how wrong was it lol Dad enjoyed his dinner full roast and all that Thanks for watching as always
@g2emedia1977 Yep, I have always wondered myself about town at Christmas. Next year I am going on the l8ver buildings tours. Hopefully, the Williamson tunnel tour and the Mersey tunnel tour. Bring on 2025 👍
Ghost town was during C word. As a wooly back bus dvr driving into the city daily, I terminated my journey at Whitechapel with no passengers for the entire 25 plus miles. Do you know what, I got out out of my cab & openly had a piss on the pavement! Just cos I can! That is a Ghost town!

@@g2emedia1977 I remember the TJ's in your video when it was Binns, back in the late 70's.
I'm always surprised that anyone even thinks about shopping on Xmas day. Surely people can do without it for one day? Merry Christmas George!

All the best George
All the best to will have a good one
Reminds me of when covid was in full lockdown. London Euston to Liverpool 11 carriages and being the only one on it. Very bizarre
Was a wierd time that buses were only allowed 15 people on at a time lol
Ghost town was during C word. As a wooly back bus dvr driving into the city daily, I terminated my journey at Whitechapel with no passengers for the entire 25 plus miles. Do you know what, I got out out of my cab & openly had a piss on the pavement! Just cos I can! That is a Ghost town!
Lockdown was boss i was on bus breakdowns and only had one lol
Have a good crimbo mate
And you
Didn’t realise that was an amphitheatre.
I done a video on it a few weeks back its really good you cant really tell from a recording but your voice amplifies everywhere
The 'developers' bought out the turds on the council and replaced the rightful city center with a characterless apology for a place to shop.
Very Empty 😂
Was hoping for it to be really empty
I have always considered that Liverpool is part of north ireland Until England Reunite the north of 🇮🇪 🇮🇪 ireland As one country.
Liverpool does have a big irish community
I neve seen it so dead it Weird
I was hoping it was going to be quieter than what it was but yeh very quiet indeed
Thanks for watching much appreciated
COVID was brutal
