I was in an M&S food hall on the same day and it was absolutely rammed. People queuing down the aisles. The fact this was empty on the Saturday before Christmas says it all.
Amazon Fresh stores seem like research labs to me. The extensive use of cameras and the odd, sometimes expensive pricing suggest they’re gathering data. Amazon’s tech team is likely running sophisticated algorithms, treating every shopper as a test subject. It’s clear they have an ambitious long-term strategy behind it all.
See your point but doesn’t every major supermarket have research and data ? (Data you can even find on decelerations when the post there earnings, eg such as product per square meter, customer retention (how long cusmtoer spends by the champagne section @hannah rickets !! )
Thanks, Hannah. An empty supermarket a few days before Christmas speaks volumes. It is about time that someone carefully described exactly what is creepy about this store.
All four of my children have worked in U.K. supermarkets/ large stores during their last 2 years in school. Customer care and interaction with people , dealing with money I would say was a valuable part of their journey towards adulthood.
I am a poor man but made a reasonable working class living. In the '90s any girlfriend or fiancée, ok most being lazy students, but I never required them to work. Those that did always reported a horrible working environment and I just said look I can afford it, you do not have to work in McDonalds and deal with managers that make you piss your pants because they have Amazon style toilet breaks. Get out of there and become a mum.
I have noticed that when there are kids working and need to give change back they don’t know how. They are used to automation doing everything for them including thinking. So frustrating as a 62 yr old. 🇦🇺
@ . Weird, the till tells them exactly how much to give back - unlike the one pub I worked in - literally just a drawer under the bar. Saying that, they all passed their maths exams with good marks.
I live in an Andalucian village. My nearest source of fruit and vegetables is two old blokes selling produce from their smallholdings off a couple of folding tables. When he gets uncomfortable, Paco screws off his artificial leg and props it against the wall. I get chillies, pumpkins, avocados, peppers and aubergines, onions and courgettes, spinach, lettuce and whatever else is in season at the time. Dates, oranges, custard apples, and pears are good just now. Also chard and celery, dirty huge beasts they are, too. All for a tenth of what you pay in the UK, organic and seasonal by nature, not design. Pay in cash only, obviously. All just round the corner from the bread shop where the bakers start work at 11pm hand making products for the morning, every single day of the year. Compared to what you've shown, I know which I prefer. Thank you for confirming I'm in a better place! X
😊Oh how delightful, sounds really good ,all healthy fresh produce , I’d be having soup and crusty bread , belly warmer for this time of year in uk. So is there someone doing free range eggs ?
Well Hannah, that was unusual....and interesting. Thanks for checking out that store. It didn't look very inviting to me. I'd cross the street to Marks and Sparks if I were in the area. You did good in showing us a store I never knew existed up till now. A healthy and fun 2025 to the lovely and chatty Hannah.
We need to be more like Hannah and question what experiment they are trying to pull and why and speak against it rather than sheepishly obeying......This smells of schwab!......the old fossil.
Thank you for speaking out against a merchant (an international monstrocity no less) refusing cash as legal tender; the "cashless" society that these faceless institutions and merchant providers are pushing for is damaging to financial autonomy in general; what's worse is it disproportionately punishes society's most vulnerable. It punishes the homeless, the bankless, as well as victims of DA trying to use physical money that isn't controlled by their abuser, etc). A cashless society is a glorified serf society. edit: type-o correction
Yeah we cant go entirely cashless, cash will always exist. Like, what do you do if its not possible to pay with card too? You're not able to buy anything, so if a cyber war happened... yeah good luck
Refusing cash makes sense for them, as it means they don't have to employ people counting the cash, or employ a company with vans to go round collecting the cash from its stores. Many people that insist on paying cash wouldn't give Amazon their custom anyway, so they're not losing much custom. There is a social responsibility argument, but big business doesn't care about anyone - we need government to legislate on that.
I agree with you about no immediate receipt and no cash payment. I like to check my receipt before I leave a store to make there there hasn't been a mistake like a double scan (or in this case, putting something back on the shelf and still being charged for it because technology does have glitches sometimes). Thanks for the tour, and thanks for braving the weather.
Right on, Hannah!!! I want a receipt too! I always check my receipt before I leave the store...can't tell you the number of times I've been overcharged for something. 💗💗💗
I always check my receipt too, been overcharged many times in Tesco. If I can only pay with card, or can't get a receipt I won't be shopping there, end of!
@@chriscaine7689 Omgosh, there's one grocery store where I reside (Canada's "Real Canadian Superstore") that's never made one single error in the 20 yrs I've shopped there (truly incredible in the annals of grocery stores and considering the store I shop at caters to a large population and not only that but their cashiers treat their customers like they're happy to serve them which is a feat in itself considering it's an absolute madhouse) but SAFEWAY???? That's a whole different story! I've been overcharged too often to not double-check my receipts and some of their cashiers are not happy campers.
I was over-charged in M&S about two weeks ago; £3.50 on the shelf, £3.70 at the self-service till. The staff don't even check or quibble, just login and change the number.
You are so funny and to the point Hannah. The store is reminiscent to the shopping scenes on the "Handmaids tale" T.V. show. And your talking to a bin bit is hilarious 😂 the man in the background walking by was looking a bit confused 😅. Great vlog thank you. A great New year to you too🎉
I hope they go bankrupt, honestly. I'm not a fan of this techy mass-consumerism dystopian nightmare. People need human connection and PRIVACY. Mom & Pop shops need to be the ones thriving.
Speak fro yourself! I rather like the no contact situation.Get in get out, you don't have to talk to anyone, wait in check out until the person in front of you has finished their 15 minute conversation with the check out person.
I do not need human connection when I am shopping, so this kind of store is great. If people want to go shopping and spend all their time talking to the cashiers, they need to go when shops are not busy, that is not what shops are for.
That was a lovely video Hannah, you are very natural, and you relate to use as if we are there with you. It is so refreshing to have someone who takes us along with them and tells the absolute truth. Also, you are like a friend, you show us what you are wearing, you say about your hair, everything. So friend, that is why your videos are very welcome.
Agreed! Not a comfortable experience, even from the comfort of my sofa! LOL'd at "Why is that woman talking to a bin?" Many, many thanks for the effort you put in to this video in particular (It's that fine rain, soaks you through) and all your other videos, too. You're a joy to spend time with, Hannah. Incidentally, I dunno if you've noticed but: In the last month you've added 25,000 (Yes twenty-five THOUSAND) new subscribers! YOU GO GIRL!!🤩🥰
Whole Foods in Austin Texas where it started used to be fun . Employees were super cool and nice . Ever since Bezos bought out then it became soulless and pointless. I haven’t shopped there in years .
@@user-os7ec4dm8x How very presumptuous of you. As I am 74, happily married for the past 43 years, and living 6,000 miles from London, I'm hardly looking for her to "do" me, as you so crudely put it. Moreover, my dear wife was the one who wrote the comment you responded to, and she has, I can assure you, NO sapphic leanings whatsoever. Sometimes, a compliment is simply a compliment, something you might do well to remember in future. Happy New Year, DUDE.
@@acbc3543 The Whole Foods in Palm Beach Gardens is no different than what is was like before Amazon bought it. In fact, additional services such as delivery have been added.
Hi Hannah from Scotland. I was in London in the summer and passed one of these Amazon stores, thought it looked like too much trouble and walked two stores up to the Tesco Express lol. Thank you for the tour, Happy New Year when the bells come.
Excellent informative and enjoyable video! Hannah, you looked ab-fab and super-gorg! 👍🏻🎅👍🏻😄 (In other words, stop worrying - you do a great drizzly-drenched look!) Happy New Year! 🥳🥳🥳🎉🎉🎉
As others commented, no clue of Amazon Fresh existence. Appearance alone is a turnoff. Most confusing pricing - bundle items for a meal, quantity discount, add another discount if Amazon prime member, and wait, if you didn't scan QR code upon entering the store, no "new store" discount for your purchase? Plus cash not accepted and no receipt upon checkout? Shopping elsewhere for me. Thank you for taking on this experience! Loved your summary comments. See you next Friday, happy 2025. What I'd like to see: adventure off the beaten path. One of a kind shops, hidden gems in London or day trip to surrounding towns, festivals, artisan fairs in the countryside. Actually, anywhere you take us is wonderful. You're a delight.
Quite a lot of places in Australia are cashless. Then technology fails - the bank access goes down, there is a power outage - you can’t shop. People have had to leave all their groceries at the checkout, drive away without having paid for petrol and be trusted to go back! Ridiculous. There have been special days when it’s “go to an ATM and get cash” so that it doesn’t disappear from society. And it’s a lot of elderly who are affected as they may not be tech savvy and don’t have a bank card and prefer to pay cash. I always carry cash. I also hate the extra % charged to your card just to use it. Charge me extra or don’t accept cash- quite often I will go elsewhere! Great video Hannah. It’s been a pleasure to watch you this year. Looking forward to what you bring in 2025.
In Canada I have seen the same thing. When the power goes out or the internet is down, debit and credit cards don't work. And there are fewer ATMs in many grocery stores. However, cash is still king of you have it on hand.
I am also in Australia and argued that any legal tender had to be accepted i.e. cash. Apparently it is the other way around and shops can demand payments in a legal tender of their choice … I don’t agree with this, I believe that the law in this case protects a customer not a business..but hey..what do I know ..😡
I live in Australia too and I won't shop anywhere that doesn't take cash. I also refuse to use self-checkouts. At the prices we have to pay, I expect a bit of customer service.
Agreed. Aussies are like brainless sheep which was never more evident than during the covid era. Im staggered when i see people tapping their phones for a coffee or a small snack in a small business. At least carry 50-100 bucks.
@@jolantasinclair389 Ugh, I worked at BWS for 10 years and the amount of customers we had coming in with their 'waahh it's legal tender' was both annoying and concerning. Yes your money may be legal tender, but we're not a bank - don't put a shopping bag full of 5 cent coins on the counter and think we'll take it. Company policy dictates how many of each coin and note we'll accept. Had a few arguments and kicked a few 'legal tender' complainers out, that's for sure. The main point: Legal tender will only get you as far as company policy. Consumers have rights and so do the companies.
Hannah, this has been one of you most important videos! I boycott any store especially a major retailer that refuses to take cash. I'm not against card and digital payments but cash should always be an option too. Your video was informative and detailed. This is the future they want for all of us - cashless, digital ID's and full surveillance, and it's important we all realise this! Thank you, Hannah for highlighting the (sort of) pros and pitfalls of these stores....And a happy New Year to you!
I think that most governments want everyone to go cashless so that they can track your spending and they can make sure that they always get their cut, you can't escape taxes
Hi Hannah, love watching your walking tours, your food shop trips and showing us tips around London. Id love to see walks where the famous live or a historical (Tudor/great London fire) walk tours. Keep up the good work. 💕💕
Why is that woman talking to a bin?😆 You always make me laugh Hannah. I think your criticisms are valid. It’s like Amazon is just trying too hard to be the cool relevant kids on the block. Happy New Year to you!
All the cameras is creepy. I don't trust Amazon at all, even though I do shop on Amazon and at Whole Foods which is owned by Amazon. I agree that you need that receipt at the end of the transaction so that you can confirm that you just paid for what you actually walked out with and to see how much you spent, how much you saved, etc. I totally agree that it's shameful that they have no ability to accept cash for groceries at a chain grocery store. Thanks for going out in that weather!
Did not care for the non -human experience. Sometimes you have questions. Worked retail management for decades. Staff interaction with the public is so important to developing loyalty, getting consumer feed back by observation and dialogue. Seemed sterile. Aisles narrow. No sight lines to entice you to venture thru the store. Your comments are well founded, Hannah.
Happy Friday, Hannah. Always a pleasure to walk through London with you. The Amazon Fresh stores always strike me as very strange. More like an art installation or a museum exhibit instead of a grocery store. The weather when you were filming was very similar to the weather here today (cold, heavy misty rain kind of stuff). Hope you have an amazing weekend and I’ll see you next Friday (and maybe Tuesday too)!
Thanks for exposing the shortcomings of Amazon Fresh. Your “speech” at the end is one of the best things I have seen on your channel. I love your righteous anger!
Too funny, couldn’t stop smiling or giggling at your comments. I am more mature and I really hate the fact they are trying to do away with cash, once that’s done they have complete control over your funds…think about that. No communication is a nerds dream come true, for them nothing could be better than never having to talk to another human being, much less communicate to resolve a problem, lol. And we wonder why everyone is angry or just plain mad! Thanks Hanna for taking us along, Happy New Year!🎉💕👍
@JJONNYREPP Really hoping we get back to a socially healthier society, the system is broken, especially here in the U.S. where good is bad and bad is good…wtf! I’ve been watching this breakdown since the beginning of this century, but the last decade it completely crumbled. Let’s hope this chaos is temporary. Happy New Year!🎉
Thank you for the "Heads up " on Amazon Fresh Hannah . Whot a "Souless" Place . George Orwell would of had a Panic Attack in their with all those sensors and Multi Cameras . I hope they don't come to Essex and anyway I wouldn't be a customer anyway . Loved the Coat and have a Happy New Year Hannah, you Gorgeous hipster , you ! . 😊😊😊
Yep, definitely want a receipt! Haven't shopped in one of those yet, not sure I will... We love you, thank you for making this out in the rain for our entertainment 🥰
Very interesting, never been in one of these stores. None in my part of London. What would I like to see next year 🤔 anything ! Love 98% of your blogs and still watch the other 2%. So happy your usual music is back at the end of the video , silly point but I missed it and was hoping it would return 😂😂Happy New Year !
What you said about the pastries we don’t cover in shops being coughed on and we hope for the best 😍 My ocd is getting better or I use to really be paranoid about that. Hannah, you always look beautiful, no need to ever apologise.
Ya and she says 'in Europe'. SO not true. The huge and wonderful bakery selections in German supermarkets are always behind plastic, with clean tong/scoops to pick them out.
You are just so adorable especially at the end when you start rambling on about anything and everything keep on rolling and a very Happy New Year to you and your family.
It's Friday again and ready to see you visiting more shops and listening to you have a great weekend and have a great new year coming up next week in 2025 take care Lady Hannah.☕👋🇬🇧
I really enjoy your vlogs where you provide analysis on marketing, visual presentation, pricing, etc given your background in marketing and licensing. I’ve been to a couple Amazon Fresh stores here in the states, and totally agree with you on many aspects; I didn’t like waiting an hour to get my receipt, the store felt lacking in personality, and (as someone who works in retail) I want my “thank you” when I checkout.
Hannah thanks for intreging tour of AF store, when i lived London yrs ago this type store only in someones "dream" good or bad...weird no one there on 21/12..😮 nothing like that here on Missouri USA...yet may not be there much longer for IK shoppers !😮 M & S, Safeway were close & handy good purches for be back then. Always interested in the OMG cost comparisons...yes I only window shopped at Harriods Food Court😢, but the tea selections always purchased there great tins they came in as well kept for re- used! PS, Weather here EXACTLY SAME, 3 days fog, mist spotty lite rain, warmer 50s F daytime, no white Christmas this yr here!😂 Indeed so cloudy for 3 days...wheres the sun!!😢 Well, Happy Holidays across The Pond & HappyNewYear!
Dear hanah , after a longgg time watching your videos, It's time for me to say you bring a creative interesting and special point of view. You make me feel in london without being there... thank you for that
I really enjoyed your chatting in this video, I always do. I had two strokes at the beginning of this year and find they made me far more aware of bothersome noise and how that irritates my whole being. LOL I have to say that I find getting a snack and tea and tuning in to these weekly or bi weekly videos is very relaxing. I hope your Christmas was really enjoyable. Here's to a wonderful and Happy New Year Hannah and all. Cheers from a snowy -1 Celsius Ontario Canada.
I have never heard of Amazon supermarket. Don’t think I have missed anything. This is a really interesting vlog, the pricing is rather weird, don’t think I would shop there. Thanks for showing us this Hannah. ❤
Greetings Hannah & so great to see you again during this holiday season! I agree with you that this Amazon Fresh store is not exciting at all, & the only reason to go there is if you happen to be close by, & can use it as a convenience store & nothing more! Thx so very much Hannah for making 2024 better, with ALL your wonderful weekly & multi-weekly vlogs! What an effort you have made this year Hannah, & I am so glad that your subscribers have grown to over 275K!!! I can't wait to see you get to 300, 400 & 500K! In the meantime, have a safe & Happy New Year Hannah Ricketts! As always, I look forward to your next vlog on Friday! Cheers!!!
I'm just below official retirement age. But retired from paid employment over 20 years ago. And live in a VERY posh/affluent village in South Yorkshire. (Yes, we do have them.) Never owned or will ever own a Smart phone, so maybe that's the problem with the lack of customers? Supermarkets often appeal to older people. And if you're trying to appeal to people who you are potentially excluding from your business, then well... Good luck with that as a business practice. Those prices are pretty much the same as our local village Co-Op or Spar mini supermarket prices all told. The meal deals seem a tad more expensive is all. So if that's a London shop I would say that those prices are perfectly sensible. But if I get a bus or other transportation to my nearest Aldi or Lidl 5 miles or so away, there's literally no competition. The prices at those shops is often 1/3 of the local shops here in the village. Definitely for tinned goods. Salad bowls, fresh produce etc, being maybe 1/2 price at Aldi/Lidl.
I agree with your comments at the end. I always look over my grocery receipts, and it would be odd to not get one. I'm in no hurry to shop at Amazon Fresh. You always look gorgeous, even in rainy weather.
Thank you Hannah for another awesome video. I don't think that i would shop in that store, it felt claustrophobic with those narrow isles. I hope that you have a fantastic new year 🎊🎉
We used to have an Aldi like this in the Netherlands. You just walked out too. People were wary of it also because you needed a creditcard (not even a debitcard) but the majority of the country doesn't own a creditcard or pays extra fees to use it. So safe to say it was a very short run for the shop.
Not having a credit card in this day and age is very unusual, I think that it's not a necessity, the interest rates on them are horrendous 😮😮😮. Paying with your actual money is the safest bet to not go into masses of debt. I recently got one, just because I didn't want to use my debit card in case it got cloned, but I got to choose the limit on it and my bank will send me a message if I have spent 80% of the limit, I pay it off in full before the date for payment is due. I use it like a debit card really, I do wish that it had a reward program, but I also don't spend enough on it to get many points 😂😂😂
@anaalves3658 it's a cultural thing in the Netherlands. Our debitcard works just fine everywhere, even abroad. We don't like to spend the money we don't have. Being financially responsible is in our countries DNA. That's why we usually split a bill after dinner for instance. I only have a creditcard because I travel and sometimes booking flights from outside Europe requires a creditcard. But I rarely use it.
@@alisonlee3314: These companies make money by filming you while you shop. Sometimes, these info is not for privacy. They match it against their bank records. So you would never have a higher pay, ever... And all these items are made in mega big factories. Millions per year. They sell whatever they like. If you want currency control.. and to charge the differences. It's never happening... "Weighted shelves".... Omg. This is so disgusting.
Hi Hannah, I totally agree with your opinions about the Amazon store. The first vlog that I watched was your visit at Hamleys in July 2024. Since then, I and my family have been watching all your previous and scheduled vlogs. You have a natural talent as a presenter, as if we were actually there with you in shopping, visiting museums or by simply admiring the London’s buildings architecture. There is always something new to see in your vlogs. We are already planning to see some of these in our next visit to London. We really appreciate your effort creating these vlogs. From the bottom of our hearts: Thank you Hannah for a wonderful time full of joyful and informative vlogs! May the 2025 be a healthy, peaceful and successful year to you and your family! Love from Athens, Greece❤🎆🎉🍾🥂
Hannah, I had to watch this vlog again (and again). It is like a Tarantino film, you don't know what's going to happen next and then you have to watch it again to understand a bit more. Thanks!!!

We used to have a shop a bit like this in the USA. It was called 'Fresh and Easy'. It was owned by Tesco's. It was great while it lasted but after a few years they all disappeared. I still miss it. Several things they stocked I have never been able to find again anywhere.
Hey Hannah, Happy Friday! Thank you for sharing such lovely vlogs during this holiday season. We truly appreciate all the hard work you’ve put in to bring smiles to us "your followers". We love you! Wishing you a fantastic Friday night and a Happy New Year 2025 🎊🎉🥳filled with happiness, success, and great health! 💐🇬🇧❤🇺🇸💐
Thanks for introducing the Amazon Fresh . Never been there and probably will not be. We got familiar with self checkout in shops but many still need help. Maybe will get familiar with this shop in the next 10 years who knows😊 Happy New Year Hannah.😊🌲
That was interesting but would only shop there if I had to .. too creepy and pricing not clear enough . So glad there isn’t a store near me ! Happy New Year Hannah , I hope 2025 is exceptionally kind to you !
Thanks for taking us along. In the US, I have only encountered these types of stores in airports. The store will change over time based upon feed back and Amazon is generating lots of feedback by how they are running the store. You are basically part of their market research while you shop. Of course, all stores do this, but Amazon is doing it real time. On a related "cash" observation, we went to the UK in 2018 to see the World Pipe Band Championships. Returned back in 2023 and tried to use the leftover money from 2018 - I guess the UK changed its "cash" so the 150 pounds I had suddenly had no value. To me, that was far stranger than a single store not taking cash in 2024.
Credit to you. You are very informative, Hannah. I don't get to hear about retail places and their real experiences like how you present it. Well done.
What I love about Hahnars What I love about your vlogs, you always tell us exactly what you feel. Thanks for your help it makes my life so much easier! Happy New Year
New to your channel Hannah.Thank you for taking the time to film this vlog for your channel members. That store is very confusing especially with the labelling and what's with the booze jail, weird. We really appreciate the effort and hard work you take out of your own free time
Haha, "booze jail!" It's not as bad as the cheese or razor jail they put in our grocery stores where you have to request an employee to unlock the case in order to access a brick of cheddar or a new shaver.
Have to agree with you on the Amazon Supermarket! It feels almost like a cold experience, then to add confusing price tags with multiple numbers- irritating! ..other stores in US do same thing and I've many xs walked on based on annoying pricing signage. Tysm for the vid! Super interesting 🫶🙏
Congrats Hannah on your recent success with your channel. It is absolutely exploding with hundreds of thousands to a million views per video. I'm a long time subscriber back when you only had like 10k subs as I am a bit of an anglophile from the US and always thought it was neat to browse the shops in the UK to see what they had and you were the only one doing it. Many people probably thought it was a silly idea, but now look at you! Whenever you have a niche idea that no one else is doing, you have a better chance of doing well with it.
Quite a few other supermarkets have the electronic shelf edge label now. I never realised until a couple of weeks ago when I saw a shop assistant mending a broken one. I loved this video and I'm actually envious of you being out shopping in the rain. I'm tucked up in bed but only because I'm feeling really ill with some winter virus or other.
@@PotatoPirate123 Have you seen how China works? Getting rid of cash and replacing it with trackable and sanctionable "credits" is the ultimate for draconian governments like Two Kier. Indeed this observation is likely to get a mass rapist removed from his life term in prison in order to make room for my opinion and get me at least 3 years instantly. That is how insane the UK is now.
Yes, Bezos would TOTALLY be a Slytherin! This shopping experience reminded me of the stores/businesses that have the ‘member’ setup where you get ‘points’ for shopping, and then coupons to get a sale price and special days when you get a discount. It can get VERY complicated. I think of it as ‘life as video game’. Some people seem to enjoy having to jump through those hoops to get a decent price on stuff. I am not one of them. In fact, the more ‘ways to save’ a place has, the more suspicious I am that I’m being ripped off somehow. I think Bezos thought people would be excited at the ‘futuristic’ element of these stores, but I disagree. Also, I think the aspect of refusing cash is insensitive and elitist. I thoroughly enjoyed this video-please don’t think that it was rubbish. Your analysis of the consumer experience is right on point, and I think it helps people understand what’s actually going on when they go shopping. Sorry this was such a long comment, but you obviously hit one of my hot buttons lol. 😊
Agreed, I don't know why people quote him and hold him up as the ideal business when he got where he is by screwing over the largest number of people, that is his business model.
You’re so right about some people eager to take on the challenge of figuring out a complicated shop-to-save scheme! It seems like applying that energy to learn a new language, or a useful skill, would be a more satisfying way to channel that energy.
Not in London but interesting video, thanks. Oddly, the only thing I liked about that creepy place was the alcohol booth. Perhaps it’s because you have to be 21 in the USA to buy?
Went to one of these stores in Sevenoaks for lunch a few months ago. Very efficient shopping but it feels very creepy and big brothers watching feel which is a bit off-putting personally like the conventional system. It's trying to solve a problem that doesn't really exist.
Hi Hannah! Glad we offer you the opportunity to chat with a bin in public!!🤣 No Amazon grocery stores in Canada. Not sure I’d shop there if there were. Happy New Year!!🥳🥳🥳
Amazon deserve to pay you for the free marketing/retail consultancy you have provided for them. You gave some really interesting and reflective insights.
Hannah, thanks for thinking of the homeless! Those who don’t have “accounts”. My thoughts, along with the homeless, is the amount of food waste from the fresh food products. I just can’t 😢 Thanks for another great walk along!!!
I hate cashless places and will not go in them. I would not visit this store. It is nice to actually have a conversation with a person at checkout. Odd prices. Thanks Hannah. I would give this store a miss.
It lacked that come buy a mismash of items usually associated with a garage shop odd, love your rant at the end hopefully someone will listen and maybe change things😍

"Why is that woman talking to a bin.......................:-) "Hilarious. Happy Holidays Hannah!
Hannah, the next Mary Portas 😊 I have worked in retail for over 20 years so I feel passionate about customer experience and it really frustrates me when some retailers really get it wrong. Especially things that are obvious things they could do better. I don’t think I’d shop in an Amazon Fresh, purely based on the pricing structure and the lack of ease of getting a receipt. Thanks for the video and happy Friday ❤
BRING CASH BACK! once my friend and i went into the shop with our baby. She took a Huggies off the shelf to look at and placed it back. For a split second, out of laziness, I was convincing myself I could trust technology and not check the receipt. When I got home, I looked and found out they charged me for the Huggies! And let's leave Amazon Fresh behind in 2024.
I do and so do millions of others. In fact the use of cash has surged in the last year as many are awakening to the sly methods being brought in to undermine cash, to encourage then force people to make only digital payments.
@@britpopification You're missing the point. Digitising spending and eliminating cash is yet another way for authorities and big corps to implement mass surveillance.
@@britpopification bear in mind that every time you use your card the bank charges a fee on that transaction. If you use cash all the money you spend goes to the seller. For me it is really important to cut out this extra charge that not so very long ago didn't exist, especially for independent retailers. I do use my cards but only for online purchases. In person I stick to cash if at all possible, why should the bank get a cut out of me buying a meal at a local pub for example.
Thank you for trailing out into the rain just so I don't have to go. ❤️ I think if I was using that store I would feel like I do when I am shopping in a foreign country, not quite certain what to do and knowing that if I need to ask for help that when I say " donde estas ... " I will have forgotten the words for suntan lotion and would not be able to understand the answer anyway. Being old and decrepit I much prefer to shop on line,so, it is a pleasure to sit on the sofa and let you look on the shelves for me. Thank you
I could listen to Hannah all day long, love the vice and accent which makes me actually listen to what she says which is interesting and often informative
I’m a huge supporter of cash for starters. Secondly i support mum and dad family run businesses. I go to my local butcher cos i know which farm and area the meat is coming from. I support my local grocer, again the fruit and vegies are fresh and not rotting after bringing the produce home. My local fishmonger etc etc. I want us to go back to those days where you got to know the owners of the business and you could have a chat and you knew as a regular you were well looked after. Now we have AI greeting us. 😤😤😤🇦🇺ps the bread industry is shocking and if a place says No Cash i walk away!!!!
Why is that woman talking to a bin? Well Hannah, this is a huge and very interesting subject you've tackled, consumer feelings and habits! It deserves added research. I like the coat by the way! In my town, years ago, we started out with a wonderfully hip and modest chain named Choices. I used to get a shot of pure, fresh wheatgrass juice there, now and again. Then American Whole Foods bought them out and expanded. Then Jeff Bezos and Amazon took over the whole lot. Now we are literally staring the surveillance state and cashless society in the electronic eyeball. Hal9000lelujah we've come partial full circle! Paper bags are free again! The one thing absolutely off the charts, is seeing you again today! Thank you, lovely Hannah. Thumbs up! 👍Until next year......❤
You had me laughing 😆 truly amazing you are…I love seeing how your channel has grown!!! You are the most darling young lady, do take care and have a safe New Year. See you next Friday
I like the comment about Slytherin. There is a new Amazon fresh store that finally opened in our area. Will check it out to compare. Thanks for the helpful video, and happy new year!
Also reject fully EVs.. they aren't good for the environment and they can also be controlled by the manufacturers. They can render the car disabled so it won't drive. They're taking our freedom as every year passes
well done hannah... this highlights how everyday peoples everyday lives are tracked when our use of cash is removed... much love and happy new year... xxc
I was in an M&S food hall on the same day and it was absolutely rammed. People queuing down the aisles. The fact this was empty on the Saturday before Christmas says it all.
Likewise!
Wasn't everyone else doing the reduced veg at Christmas
Amazon Fresh stores seem like research labs to me. The extensive use of cameras and the odd, sometimes expensive pricing suggest they’re gathering data. Amazon’s tech team is likely running sophisticated algorithms, treating every shopper as a test subject. It’s clear they have an ambitious long-term strategy behind it all.
Have to agree, Testing the tech maybe their plan is to licence it to other retailers.
Don’t go in then simple
Yep.
See your point but doesn’t every major supermarket have research and data ? (Data you can even find on decelerations when the post there earnings, eg such as product per square meter, customer retention (how long cusmtoer spends by the champagne section @hannah rickets !! )
Agree
Support the stores that employee humans and treat both their customers and staff well.
Precisely!
YES!!!
There are no grocery stores left that treat their employees well.
I agree. Which companies would that be exactly? I want to know as I'm job hunting.
Waitrose and marks
Thanks, Hannah. An empty supermarket a few days before Christmas speaks volumes. It is about time that someone carefully described exactly what is creepy about this store.
Thanks so much for the channel support!!

All four of my children have worked in U.K. supermarkets/ large stores during their last 2 years in school. Customer care and interaction with people , dealing with money I would say was a valuable part of their journey towards adulthood.
Agree! My kids worked at Publix in high school in the US. Valuable experience for them
I am a poor man but made a reasonable working class living.
@ . Control freak.
Bliss. It's great that you're not taking it for granted.
😊Oh how delightful, sounds really good ,all healthy fresh produce , I’d be having soup and crusty bread , belly warmer for this time of year in uk. So is there someone doing free range eggs ?

But. We're not shopping at Amazon "fresh"!
An artificial leg leaning on the wall might put me off my aubergines!🤣
I fully agree with you!
Also, not all teenagers have bank cards either!
Yeah we cant go entirely cashless, cash will always exist. Like, what do you do if its not possible to pay with card too? You're not able to buy anything, so if a cyber war happened... yeah good luck
If they don’t accept cash I dont shop there.
For sure a red flag and deal killer for me. "Just trust them on the invisible receipt?" PASS!

A great New year to you too🎉
I don't support cashless shops whether I want to use cash or card. Cash is legal tender and should be accepted everywhere
I hope they go bankrupt, honestly. I'm not a fan of this techy mass-consumerism dystopian nightmare. People need human connection and PRIVACY. Mom & Pop shops need to be the ones thriving.
Vesos even looks as if he's got a micro chip in his nutter. Looks like Mr Spock with his same ears, but Mr Spock had genuine intelligence!
Speak fro yourself! I rather like the no contact situation.Get in get out, you don't have to talk to anyone, wait in check out until the person in front of you has finished their 15 minute conversation with the check out person.
I much prefer to interact directly with people. Provided the store has enough cashiers to keep the queues down, and the prices are good.
I do not need human connection when I am shopping, so this kind of store is great. If people want to go shopping and spend all their time talking to the cashiers, they need to go when shops are not busy, that is not what shops are for.
Bingo. It's very alarming all these people who think they can go about without seeing a human.
Strange times.

And, what if people don't have a smart phone! Can't scan QR codes to even get a receipt!
Wholeheartedly agree!
Absolutely! I do wonder if it is even legal to refuse cash. On the up side I've been to quite a few places that only take cash.👊

If you don’t trust them why do you use them? Just because it’s “convenient” I presume.
Plandemic project was part of the Tavistock nudge theory for us to go online and be cashless.
And we wonder why everyone is angry or just plain mad! Thanks Hanna for taking us along, Happy New Year!🎉💕👍

Salad bowls, fresh produce etc, being maybe 1/2 price at Aldi/Lidl.
same, no smartphone

We used to have an Aldi like this in the Netherlands. You just walked out too. People were wary of it also because you needed a creditcard (not even a debitcard) but the majority of the country doesn't own a creditcard or pays extra fees to use it. So safe to say it was a very short run for the shop.
Very interesting!
I don’t own a credit card….. I’ve managed 60 years without one.
Thank you for your information x

Old reggie passed away.
I lmbo 😂at the man walking by. Your comment why’s that woman talking to a bin. 😮 I needed that laugh 😂
Credit to you. You are very informative, Hannah. I don't get to hear about retail places and their real experiences like how you present it. Well done.
What I love about Hahnars
What I love about your vlogs, you always tell us exactly what you feel.
Hello Hannah from Camden, South Carolina USA! Love your videos so much! Thanks for braving the weather for us!
Greetings! The Amazon Fresh store she visited in this video is located in the London Borough of Camden. 😁
Thank you so much!!
Your right, not offering the option of using cash is just wrong.
Possibly illegal?
You will own nothing and you will be happy.
@@sadhumannell2769why would that be illegal lol
@@PotatoPirate123 Have you seen how China works? Getting rid of cash and replacing it with trackable and sanctionable "credits" is the ultimate for draconian governments like Two Kier. Indeed this observation is likely to get a mass rapist removed from his life term in prison in order to make room for my opinion and get me at least 3 years instantly. That is how insane the UK is now.
@@PotatoPirate123 Criminal central bankers hate cash.
It *might* work for those who were persuaded that human contact was terribly awful. Like dangerous maybe. Or that they ran out of cheap labour.
Went to one of these stores in Sevenoaks for lunch a few months ago. Very efficient shopping but it feels very creepy and big brothers watching feel which is a bit off-putting personally like the conventional system. It's trying to solve a problem that doesn't really exist.
Thank you for making this great video Hannah and standing out in the rain :) 🌧😍😃
Hi Hannah! Glad we offer you the opportunity to chat with a bin in public!!🤣 No Amazon grocery stores in Canada. Not sure I’d shop there if there were. Happy New Year!!🥳🥳🥳
I'm having a shite day, but you and your humor had me laughing. Thank you and happy holidays ❤🎉🎉🎉
Pretty soon someone is bound to stop Hannah and ask for an autograph 😅
Hannah, the next Mary Portas 😊 I have worked in retail for over 20 years so I feel passionate about customer experience and it really frustrates me when some retailers really get it wrong. Especially things that are obvious things they could do better. I don’t think I’d shop in an Amazon Fresh, purely based on the pricing structure and the lack of ease of getting a receipt. Thanks for the video and happy Friday ❤
Add lack of personal touch.
Seriously who uses cash I haven't for
years now
@@britpopification seriously, a lot of us do!
I do and so do millions of others. In fact the use of cash has surged in the last year as many are awakening to the sly methods being brought in to undermine cash, to
encourage then force people to make only digital payments.
Voice not vice 😂
Never been to this shop and have no intention to do so in the future. Find them really weird.
They are the 15 minute city stores part of the digital prison system coming to a town near you!
Only if we let them !!!
Reject CBDCs and digital IDs as well!
Also reject fully EVs.. they aren't good for the environment and they can also be controlled by the manufacturers. They can render the car disabled so it won't drive. They're taking our freedom as every year passes
They made it confusing but you made it interesting.. well done.
Excellent video as always, very entertaining and informative - Great Work!!!
Thank you very much for the information about the shop. God bless you and a Happy New Year.
well done hannah... this highlights how everyday peoples everyday lives are tracked when our use of cash is removed... much love and happy new year... xxc
Never heard of this store and as it is cashless I would avoid it like the plague!
Why? Do you not own a card?
@@PotatoPirate123 what if the card gets declined, einstein?
