    You do have split axles sir. Could see them on the video. Also check the centre drive gear, as I bet it's split too. Also, if you take it apart fully, I would guess the intermediate gear is split too.

    Track cleaners and spilt chassis don't always mix due to possible shorting in the chassis. The loco is basically Mainline in design only with a better motor. If it was me I would strip it down to parts photograph everything before dismantling the loco . Clean the two half's of the chassis and gears its surprising how much dirty gets between the two half's I would also replace the plastic axles with new ones Peters Spares sell replacements not to expensive the wheels need to be super cleans.     have you measured the wheel gauging? noise sounds like the track and wheels coming into contact and with those split axles types, people replace the axles and not always to the right dimensions

      I did inspect it closely and couldn't see a split with my old eyes. However, the thump it makes on the track does sound like it has a split. I shall have to take it apart again and use a magnifier. Thanks for watching

    I had that loco. But it kept breaking down.
