Redrawing the character icons and NOT the character select portraits was so lazy on Capcoms part for the last one. They should have put more effort into it or just kept it as it was in the arcade version. Just fixing and improving the easy stuff shines a light on the stuff that they looked at and went ‘nah, it’s too hard and we don’t care THAT much’
One thing that you did not know was that for Darkstalkers 3, the home console part version made it be completing battles in Original Character you could unlock extra options to switch Savior, with Hunter 2 and Savior 2 modes and that therefore would have affected the character select screen.
We all want a new Darkstalkers game. Me too, but I don’t want them to make it 3D, I want it to be sprite based since it keeps the magic of Darkstalkers

And some/most of them aren’t even available outside of Japan! If you ask me, I’d prefer a PS5/XSX/Steam release of a new Darkstalkers collection in the future, with the very first Vampire: The Night Warriors (Darkstalkers 1) lifted from the original arcades, Vampire Hunter (Darkstalkers’ Revenge), and a Definitive Edition of Vampire Savior (Darkstalkers 3), based on both versions of Vampire Savior 2/Vampire Hunter 2. And let that collection be a new-generation taste for the reveal of Darkstalkers 4 next-gen, that’s what we want!
Are you forgetting the VH-VS collection made by Capcom years ago and that didnt do very well commercially? Because people dont even like these games, otherwise the sales would have proven it. And Fightcade stats would show it as well. Look, even FREE and with rollback, not many people play it... LoL

They found out it because of Morrigan in MvC, or at best got to play twice and dont go back to It. And they just want a new game for "stimulation" if you know what i mean... I believe some people ask for a new game and not even know how a real versus match is like. If a new game is like the old games, he would give up in less than a month. The fact is that DS was designed to be a complex and challenging game, very unlike SF, and more than other Capcom fg's.
So if you want to play a Darkstalkers game with every character in the series available, you have to play vampire for matching service or darkstalkers 3 on ps1
Vampire Savior (DS3) and Vampire Hunter (DS2) are different games in terms of mechanics, roster, engine and soundtracks. Vampire Savior 2 and Vampire Hunter 2 are identical in gameplay and engine, with the main differences being the exclusive characters from Hunter being put in the place of characters from DS3 and also replacing the OST of DS3 with DS2's
What I've always wondered is what the hell happened to Night Warriors/Vampire hunter character select screen? Its just static character pics on a black backround. Its like every else on this was great but character select what the hell capcom?

Out of all the fighting games that deserve a come back Darkstalkers is one of them.
