Dovewing was born. Sister drama. Crazy Dawnpelt. Love triangle. Cinder x Lion drama. Flametail dies.
This has been a poem explaining Omen of the Stars

Omen of the Stars, a ballad
      Dove:
      Cheery, listening
Tried to be there, yet I was not
Given a mentor, one to teach me of what I will know
Overwhelmed in the fact told to me
that I am one, one of three
three powerful cats in a prophecy
Troubled, outcast, tryed to make the best of it
Caught all I could, did what I may
what I may to be perfect
Heard, heard a sound so distant before, now on a quest, naive of what i'll do
      New friends, not friends
taught to think before I care
      before I act without consent
Made higher in status, proud on the surface
deep down trying to fight the worries residing
Learned of darkness inside one I cared for
She faced the other way, locked me out
Thought I'd turn, turn to others who called
Only one there, forbidden to love
Watched from the outside, heard but not talked
Fighting wars already fought, really worth all it costs?
      Lost, in silence
      Jay:
      Healing, healing, trauma
Clanmates try to help, I don't want it
      Not living to potential
      ATTACKED
      by evil edgy half-brother
      tried to pain those undeserved
Fallen tree, killing him, hurting her
      Dragging, dragging, limbs flailing
      how do I help?
Vision's corner saw him slipping, sliding
the ice cracking and splitting below
could not get there in time
      DIVED down the cold flow
      everything blurred, dark
THEN a vision of forgotten, led to betrayl of the flame cat
      Lion:
      Strong, brave
      Content yet not
For all know of what we have lost
      and the bad we gained
      Resentment
Then, out of air, training is bestowed
Given to the Dove and the Ivy
      So young, naive, unshaped
Teaching beside the friend of my sister
      my sister, gone
Journey, given to that of the Courageous and the Caring
Fought the unknown, having a traveler beside, die
Learning the young think all are they friends
Teaching to the confused and hurt, that is not the case
      Loved,now by a Co-Scholar
Only once had before, with a beautiful secret cat
Following the seekers of solstice, to tunnels familiar
An old face found, so dark and grim
Now found, to be brought back again
      Ivy:
      Normal, happy
      Eager, quaint
Then my sis got all the attention
A journey she was took apon at a moments notice
shook me, shook me to my core
      Alone, lost, sad
She was better, better and better
Then he came, he took away the pain
told me I was special, little did I know I would betray
FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT is all the shadows knew
Plan, plan, plan through and through
Then a secret spilled, to ears of starry power
Spilled to the one less inferior
Three found out, then told the leader
Next thing to go, Spying on the dark
      Waiting, surviving
Hoping not to be found out
      A warrior forgot, comes home
She is left all alone, cast out
Non knowing of why she did the deed she dealt
      Then, BATTLE
      Running to the scene
      Switching sides, revealing deception
Being saved by the mysterious memory
Knowing, all has been done, and now I am free

If Ivypaw's mentor would have been Lionblaze it would have made for a much greater development. They both trained in the dark forest, they both had turbulent teenage -cat years, etc etc. Cinderheart and Lionblaze's relationship would have made so much more sense too since he would have had to go to Dovepaw for the prophecy, and she would have been Cinder's apprentice, so there would be a reason for them to *talk*, it would also lay foot to a more reasonable jealous Ivypaw (aka my mentor doesn't pay attention to me, always my sister, yadda yadda yadda). Both Ivypaw and Lionblaze would have had much better developement this way in my opinion.

I was very disappointed when we didn't get one perspective from Firestar in the last hope! Since we haven't had his perspective in 3 series and I think it would've been appropriate for when Firestar is fighting Tigerstar to get his perspective.

When Flametail was drowning Jayfeather tries to save him. Jayfeather knows he is blind and will not likely survive, but stills tries, to save him. Jayfeather knows how important he is to the Clans and Flametail was also the first to turn his back on his fellow medicine cats, yet Jayfeather pursues to rescue him. Thai makes for a great character quality in Jayfeather.

The talking to each other point you made is SOO true! This has always been a problem with Warriors, where it seems like it takes a whole book or more for 2 minute conversations to happen that would totally give important information to other characters (*sigh* even Into the Wild is guilty), but I definitely remember this being more annoying in OotS.
Also one complaint: I HAVE TO WAIT FOR PART 2!?!?! Tennelle what the heck you can't tease us like this!

Totally agree with what you've said! Whta bothers me the most about OotS is that everyone calls Dovewing a Mary Sue. If you don't like her, that's perfectly fine! We all like and dislike different characters, I'm not her #1 fan either. BUT that is NOT an excuse to call her a Mary Sue, she has flaws, she is relatable and she isn't perfect. I hope you adress a bit about this in the next video! Great work, as always. ;)

"maybE THEY SHOULD ACTUALLY TALK TO EACH OTHER!!!" *slams fist on table* omfg lmao Tennelle youre the best
but here's an idea, how about you try reading the books in the chronology you recommended? sign of the moon, then forgotten warrior, nixing the fourth apprentice entirely, etc etc. I'd love to hear your thoughts on that! I'm actually SUPER curious to try it because Im stuck on night whispers and hating it.
I really hope this idea picks up steam, I love it when tv shows or books or whatever are meant to be read "out of order" for it to make sense (it's so extra it gives me life). who says warriors can't follow this as well? my dude you should send me a list of your "ideal" OOTS chronology and I'll try it out! :D fantastic video too btw.

I believe oots had Great potential, which can be seen by the many good aspects of it like ivy and dove, and longtail' death (my god my bae) but it wasn't delivered properly. I definely don't think it's as bad as many make it out to be, and i haven't read in over 3 years so I can't be certain but I don't remember hating it any more than the new prophecy as a kid and now as a teen I can't decide what arc between 2-4 I like more. There's a reason there's so many maps centered around these arcs. The ideas were really good but not executed the best. Lots of people don't like the whole dark forest plot thing but I quite like that idea,(just me though not saying people who don't like it are wrong). They had 2 very good ideas that worked well on their own, a supernatural struggle of power and a family drama. They are not really good but just don't work together. I know I'm going back to Po3 but I'm very undecided between whether hollyleaf should have kept the same arc or became evil. I think what we got of hollyleaf was fantastic but if she had turned evil it may have given that one more thing OoTS needed from PoW. I'm really undecided about whether the plot should be changed or not, I feel like some ideas are really good (like yours and Spencer's pow alternate idea) as alternate universes, but I'm happy with what we got. I think the main story is fine, apart from the 3s power struggle getting lost completely, but is rather the delivery that's bad

I really think the Erin's are feeling the pressure when writing Warriors since it's the most popular series in their creations, and over thousands view it. I myself am starting to grow out of warriors, especially since most, or all of the Warriors code isn't followed anymore, to be honest only one cat took it seriously. And yeah, Omen of the Stars pushed my decision to stop reading Warriors.
One of my best friends suggested reading Survivors, or their bear series(I forgot the name, lol) And both series are great, spectacularly written, and the plot isn't repetitive. Warriors is great too, but the thing that made Warriors great is not really there anymore😶

    • @figuresss5736
      @figuresss5736 7 лет назад +13

StormyStarz Yes! The Erins really only focus on Thunderclan! It's very annoying, I would love to see the Erin's base an entire season on another clan, or most of it at least.

    I agree so much.
I read the last part of Night Whispers.
"I believe that when the final battle comes, Ivypaw will stand with us." (Or something like that)
I turned the page, expecting there to be another chapter, and it showed the cover of SOTM.
I was like, "What? Seriously? That's really the ending? Wow."
I didn't even know what to say. It ended just, so sudden, and it made no sense to end it just right there. It should have ended like, a chapter or two after, where they have time to make something big happen, like a good, book ending plot twist. I really think they should have done something other than just that. That kind of annoyed me.

wait a minute... Do my eyes deceive me? Is Tennelle... saying Dovewing isnt a Mary Sue? Finally!!! Dovewing is absolutely not a Mary Sue, and I don't see why people think she is one. here's why: SPOILER ALERT, YO!
she has flaws, like Tennelle sort of pointed out. she was young and naive, and that sort of balanced out the fact that she had cool powers. She also gets a lot of crap about how she reacted when she 'lost' her powers, but seriously. If you had powers, and they were pretty much stripped away from you, you would freak out too! and while people blame her for the whole "Tigerheart and Bumblestripe" love triangle, she truly was in love with Tigerheart, and Bumblestripe wasn't her type. I could go on and on, but I won't. Pls don't hte on this comment, this is MY OWN OPINION!!! So don't flip out.

She didn't do this for anyone else, she did it to have a better life.

  • @Hadeshy
    @Hadeshy 7 лет назад +18

The only moment where Ivy get to talk about what she saw in the dark forest was the very end. I can't help but to think that talking about that earlier it the books would've make more sense than the "she's spying them for us but she never say anything about them. nothing to worry about"
Honestly at some point I was waiting Jayfeather to think that she was spying on them for the dark forest as her spying thing was useless
But the only real thing I disliked in this arc is the drama. Especially with Lionblaze and Cinder..Heart ? (don't know her English name sorry). I honestly ended up hating Lionblaze not because of the character himself but because of how chapters with his point of view were annoying. I preferred the love story of Jayfeather ; not throw at our face every chapter. No complaints of "we can't be together because you have a destiny".
But, good point with the return of Hollyleaf: her evolution. In power of the three I hated her from the beginning to the end. But in omen of the star, I surprised myself wishing to have at least one chapter with her point of view to get to know the new Hollyleaf better.

I loved the character of Dovewing. Everyone calls her a Mary Sue, yet she is not. She is full of flaws. She 'abandoned' her sister, she caused love drama, but she had such an impact on the plot. I always admired the 'flawed characters', they struggle but don't know how to handle the problem... The flawed characters are strong, but no one sees that.

The Three + Ivypool's relationship could be similar to that of The New Prophecy cats in your "Let's Rewrite The New Prophecy" video. Their relationship, especially with Ivypool, could be tested constantly, making them realize why they instead of any other cat were chosen to have powers - while it wouldn't be uniting the Clans, it would unite the Three + Ivypool, and character development and relationships voila have appeared!
The sibling relationships could also be stressed out a lot as well, maybe incorporating Bright Guardian Akira's 4 Ways To Make Sol Better suggestion of a Sol-Jayfeather personal connection but instead in Omen of the Stars. And for Ivy/Dove, Ivypool could save Dovewing from a badger or a Dark Forest Cat (or Breezepelt . . .) and Dovewing could save Ivypool from something else after that, showing how much they would risk. This could lead to them fighting together during the Final Battle, and make Ivypool's stress of Dovewing leaving plus Dovewing's worry about Ivypool's feelings be a bit more prevalent in Tigerheart's Shadow/AVoS.
And for Jay/Lion bonding . . . TAKE LIONBLAZE WITH YOU TO BECOME LION'S ROAR, SEE IF ANYTHING HAPPENS! MAYBE EVEN BRING DOVEWING ALONG AND MAKE IVYPOOL FEEL LEFT OUT THAT SHE DOESN'T HAVE AN INCARNATION, FUELING HER LONELINESS!! THE CATS IN OMEN OF THE STARS AREN'T LONELY, THEY JUST LACK BASIC COMMUNICATION! Three + Ivypool could all experience their own loneliness, and eventually bond over and become a secure unit because of it.

Omen of the stars was okay I guess but the last hope was my favorite in the series because it is just so emotional in the end when sooo many of the characters we grew to know die and lose so much. Some of the clan cats are left broken! like dustpelt poor dustpelt when ferncloud dies and like firestar when he sees spottedleaf dies and knows that spottedleaf won't be there for him when he joins starclan and then sandstorm when firestar does AHHHHH but by far I love the Apprentice quest in the 5th arc xD

Poppyfrost was just absolutely terrified, and Jayfeather really stood up for her, even if he took a beating, they pulled through!

Great points! I think I agreed with everything you had to say. The splitting of chapters among all the different characters is the biggest sore point for me. Throughout the series we know everything that's going on, there's no mystery to keep the pages turning. For example, Ivypool's plot would have been so much more compelling to me if for a while we had no idea why she kept waking up with scratches and came to learn that other cats in other clans were as well before eventually getting a big dark forest reveal. Instead, we know what's going on in whole and only really have room to wonder about what happened a particular night, which is consistently 'dark forest cats acted obviously evil and there was some rigorous training' plus maybe one important plot point. Everything's spelled out for us.

I'd just like to say: I think there should've been MANY "It should've been Hollyleaf" moments between Jayfeather and Lionblaze. It would've solidified their bond and how much they miss their sister, as well as make the tunnel scene where they search for Hollyleaf's body more believable. Speaking of searching for Hollyleaf, I would've accepted that scene being so late if the three made it obvious they were too busy to go search for her. Sad as it may be, they had lives, and they thought Hollyleaf was dead.

Okay, I read all of these books when I was in middle school, that us, up until Omen of the Stars. I read the first 2 books, received the 3rd and 4th as gifts, but never got around to reading them. I got into high school, read other books, graduated, and now I'm working my way through classic literature. I always knew I was missing out on the rest of the story as I saw fan video after fan video, but I recently wandered into the kid's section of Barnes and Noble, saw AAAAAALL of the old books with the new covers, the rest of Omen of the Stars, and the arches that followed. I remember thinking, "Oh. My. Gosh. They're still going!" Part of me really misses these books; they were a huge part of my middle school years, however... At some point, I lost track of character arches (So many characters. So many point of views. So many romances and "who's kit is this? Where they from?"), and I was so behind by now. I would have to reread the first two Omen of the Stars books and the rest of the books. I just couldn't keep track, unfortunately! :/

I understand the idea with flame tail bringing some drama in to the books not to make them boring, but when you think about it, this was how it ended up being. You get introduced to flame tail, it's interesting seeing it from another clan, and flametail's kinda cute tbh. Then he gets thrown into the lake and dies horribly. It doesn't even change the story later in the books. There're some shenanigans about jayfeather murdering flametail (although it's BS lol) but that doesn't change anything either. Technically you get introduced to a cute cat, he does, and that's it.

As many problems as OotS had, it still has one of my favorite character arcs in the series with Jayfeather as he confronts a lot of stuff he hasn’t really been able to let go off, whether it was his faith, or his relationship with Leafpool being rekindled. If there’s one moment I point back to as one of my favorite scenes in the series, it is easily Jayfeather accepting Leafpool back into the Medicine Cat role.

Honestly, Omen of the Stars is probably my favourite Warrors arc- perhaps out of pure nostalgic sentiment, due to The Fourth Apprentice and Fading Echoes being the second and third Warriors books I ever read- but I do think people overlook it because of the powers- as if the series wasn't already unrealistic before what with cats building thrones of bones and getting extra lives from sparkly dead cats.
But despite it's fast pacing and mediocre 'final' battle, Omen of the Stars had a certain sense of adventure to it that even the first and second arcs didn't have. We got to travel to entirely new areas of teh Warriors world and see some old ones again. We got to see the story from multiple different points of view, with each one looking into a different group of characters- with Dovewing we got to see some of Tigerheart's story and with Ivypool we got to see what Blossomfall was up to, along with the cats of the Dark Forest.
And then there are the characters. While Into the Wild, the first book I'd read, didn't really spark my interest into any of the characters, I loved Dovewing right away and eventually grew to like Ivypool after she matured out of her jealousy issues. And by the time I read The Forgotten Warrior, I'd read the rest of the books available at that time, so I got to see the return of another favourite, Hollyleaf. But in comparison to the first two arcs, the characters in Omen of the Stars just seem so much more real and relatable, each with their own flaws and development that shaped them into characters worth reading about, whereas the cats in the first two arcs seemed rather flat and one-sided- not to say that they were bad, but they were certainly less interesting.
So that's my opinion on the matter. Now I am well aware of how unpopular an opinion it is, and I'd like to remind everyone that this is simply MY opinion and I am not forcing it on anyone else or trying to tell everyone their opinion is wrong. Thank you, and have a nice day.

Personally I enjoyed OotS a lot as is, and IK others did too.
Can’t say I’ve noticed any leaps in logic and the characters felt fine to me. I also didn’t mind starclan and dark forest being more involved.
    I even enjoyed the ending.
I don’t get why some hate/dislike them, but to each their own.
I enjoy just about everything in TBP, PO3, and Omen about equally myself.
The plot does not make leaps in logic and isn’t nonsensical and character motivation is perfectly consistent with past books.
I liked how starclan and the dark forest got more involved for this story
I was satisfied with the ending
I don’t like seeing something I genuinely enjoyed get hated on.
