I love that no bullshit straight to the point explanation you give. I recently started playing GD and your vids are my primary source of info
Thanks for the comment, great summary of what I’m doing and how well I’m doing it - much appreciated 👊🙂
Most of the (recent) build guides I’ve done have used ‘easy gear’ on a ‘fresh start’ character, so they’re builds anyone can replicate even if they’ve not played the game before. Not necessarily the ‘best builds ever’ but they are balanced for damage/survivability and fun to play from early on without depending on rare random drops or endgame gear.
Mate, your dedication to this game is amazing. Been playing for years and love to checkin and see what you’re up to. Such a joy to hang along as you put these together. Keep doing you brother, we’ll be here! Hope all is well!
Thanks for the massively inspiring comment. I’m honestly treading that fine line between ‘amazing dedication’ and ‘tragic waste of a life’ but it’s all good 👊😜
@@Arcadelife1only becomes a waste if you’re not enjoying it. Do the things that bring you joy and make sure you express love to those around you and all is good!
@@everydayrealist That’s a great philosophy right there - cheers for sharing it 👊🙂
I will forever refer to this build as "The Hilarious Damage-Fest Build". CLASSIC!!!!!
Thanks!
It really is, considering the extreme minimalist approach to skills.
Be aware that since patch 1.2 the drop-rate of non-boss monster infrequent items (including the Riftclaw Slicer, unfortunately) has been significantly reduced. I’m hoping they fix this at some point.
Great video! Can't wait on part 2 :) Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the support, it’s much appreciated. Footage for part 2 is being recorded, I’m up to level 35 maybe get to 40 before editing so there’s a decent spread of level-ups.
I enjoy your videos. They show me things I did not know and thats great. Also I am trying builds that I never would have thought of and they are fun. thanks
@@michaeltrull5788 Thanks for the comment, it’s much appreciated and always good to hear this stuff is fun 👊🙂
Awesome Guide my friend. I have not leveled any character with Eye of Reckoning. Now i see and i wont shy away from it. Thank you for the guide.
Gotta keep everything as simple as possible, in my opinion. It’s also funny as heck just spinning through crowds of bad guys and wrecking them.
Not how I would do it (Olexra, save him please!) but that's the beauty of Grim Dawn. So many combinations, and even the same mastery combo has multiple ways of doing it.
Also, you probably know this, but you can use double flints. They stack. Great video!
Yeah, I intend to double-stack the flints (it’s in the level 60 build guide video), they work in a very similar way to the vitriolic gallstones I use on the ‘one shot’ build.
The only reason I didn’t use two flints in this video is a combination of fresh-start (limited crafting materials) and I’m going to swap to a shield in the next episode so I’ll make a big deal of using two flints once I have that item equipped.
Olexra’s is weird; on the one hand it’s a massive nuclear mushroom of instant crowd death and on the other hand it doesn’t affect some enemies at all (insects for example) and does nothing to most bosses, Krieg for example.
I just gave this a shot (sort of). I started last night on Oathkeeper. I got up to about level 5 before thinking I'd better check with your vids to find out what you'd done (I'd completely forgotten I'd even watched this vid, though it was only 7 months ago according to the comment I left below. What can I say? Senility runs in my family and I'm going to be 58 in less than 2 weeks. My memory is almost non-existent. I had to have my supervisor bring up the security feed in our warehouse yesterday because I lost some paperwork and needed to locate it). So I watched and ended up going all the way up in Oathkeeper to get EoR, then I went to Arcanist and put in the single point to the mastery, and the single points to Inner Focus and I's Elemental Exchange. I alternated after that 2 in IF and 1 to the mastery, then change it at the next level. I hit level 25 just as I got the last of the Blood of the Watchers. Got out of there and turned it in, then got to the Veiled Den and got the Riftclaw Slicer JUST before getting to Galfang. WENT THROUGH GALFANG LIKE A HOT KNIFE THROUGH BUTTER!!!! DAYUM!!!!! So about to go back to it and run the Veiled den a few more times, see if MAYBE I can't get another one with a better suffix. My prefix was SEARING, I think the suffix was ALACRITY. I'd like to get BURNING, SCORCHING, whatever. Ciao for now.
@@charlesballard5251 Nice one. And you’re younger than me so hang in there 👊🙂
Ok Arcade!!, where is our "Mythical Soiled Pants" retaliation build!! 😀 Great build by the way! Love your videos!
Thanks for the support, always good to hear this stuff is enjoyable! Here’s an old ‘Soiled Pants’ video I did, probably not what you’re looking for 😂 ruclips.net/video/xuLmuRMzGHU/видео.html
Very usefull. thank you very much
Cheers for the comment, it’s much appreciated 👊🙂
great video, trying this now
@@michaeltrull5788 The weapon drop rate is lower now (after patch 1.2) but it does still drop so don’t give up 👊🙂
Love this build!
I will be having a go at this, never played Oathkeeper,do like a spinny skill, thanks for sharing the video 😃😃
Thanks for the comment, hope you have fun with the spinning. It will be tempting to take additional skills but my intention with this build was to keep it as minimal as possible and spin all the time during fights. So far (level 76 at the time of this comment) it’s working really well 👊🙂
@@Arcadelife1 Am lvl 32 now, found a lot of green gear with +2 to eye of reckoning, it's 26/16 at the mo really enjoying the build ,not been to F/Gods yet, early days yet 👍👍
@@wookie7816 Nice one, yeah it’s surprising how many items you will randomly get with +2 EoR on - the suffix of choice seems to be ‘of scorched ends’ to pretty much guarantee that +2. Cheers for the progress report, always nice to hear when a build is working out well.
Thank you!
Fun video to make, thanks for the interest in this 👊🙂
@@Arcadelife1 No worries, I enjoy cyclone in PoE so this is right up my alley
Done. Now level 30 and going strong.
Thanks for the progress report, always great to hear these builds being followed 👊🙂
cant wait till part 2!
Thank you. Had a few issues (not with the game) so part 2 is a bit delayed.
love these vids! keep it up
Thanks for the support, it’s much appreciated 👊🙂
Love the videos, what is your favorite build overall? And could you like the grimtools please? Thanks!
@@roadw2k Thanks for the interest and the comment.
Top 3 favourites are
Chaos dual-wield ranged Pyro (because of the damage and overall fun) - ruclips.net/video/i_-dCsyzgx0/видео.html
Acid damage Occultist (paired with either Arcanist or Soldier - softcore/hardcore) - ruclips.net/video/tFn2P4vvANE/видео.html
Vitality Damage Apostate (weird build relying on damage conversion from monster infrequent items) - ruclips.net/video/Th6I9Zf3SSM/видео.html
All those videos have links to Grimtools and other videos in their descriptions.
@@Arcadelife1 Awesome, thanks for the response! I've tried the Acid damage one already and that one is fun!
@@roadw2k Yeah, I haven’t done any proper videos for the Pyro in ages, just that Act 1 boss rush vid. I should probably level one up again for old times’ sake. Gotta have that full Darkblaze set to really shine tho 👊🙂
@@Arcadelife1 Looks like it is time for you to get back into Grim Dawn haha
I was watching a guy try the eor build with warlord. I cannot figure how he manages the spirit cost for eor. EOR seems a good fit for your templar build. And I am enjoying it a lot. Any thoughts on how eor works for a warlord? thank you
@@michaeltrull5788 Well, you can put points in spirit and grab at least one devotion constellation that buffs energy regen and then farm and hope for a few years to get ridiculous gear affixes for energy regen. OR you can do what the guy in the video ‘might have done’ and cheat yourself the gear in GD Stash. I’m not being a d1ck, just raising awareness that not all the GD builds you will see are legit - if someone only has videos of level 100 characters and/or never shows their character tab 3 (elapsed play time) then maybe the build isn’t something you’re easily going to be able to replicate without cheating. However, physical EoR Warlord is very strong, if you can manage the energy issues.
@@Arcadelife1 thankhyou
wanted to say thank you for this build. I'm a new GD fan and really enjoy it. Have a question though. I am at where I'm trying to farm the rift claw. I started farming at level 23 and im now level 28 and still no claw. Is this just really bad luck? Getting a lot of great drop etc. but no claw? Any suggestions? Thanks so much again
It’s a rare drop. After patch 1.2 it’s even rarer. All I can say is keep trying 👊🙂
i finally got one pretty good but doesnt have fire has cold but its a start lol. Thanks for responding sure apreciate it!
Amazing guide as always. somehow i missed the battered shell that is needed to cleanse the hidden shrine, do you know what mobs drop it? I've been killing some beetles for a while know and haven't got it
Thanks for the comment, it’s much appreciated. The Battered Shell drops from the Dermapteran type insects, but it is also a default craftable component at the blacksmith. I always seem to have at least one by the time I reach the hidden shrine in Forgotten Gods area but that’s probably down to loot luck from totem fights where Dermapteran insects have spawned.
@@Arcadelife1 Thank you, also noticed you can buy one from the cult supplier, can't wait to get back home to play a bit more, been enjoying the game a lot recently, sheers
I was wrongfully looking for ways to farm riftclaw slicer for my physical EoR Warlord build. Its my first playthrough and I eventually realized my mistake, i want to convert elemental dmg into physical Lol.
However, doing research using grimtools didn't show the steps shown in the video for the farm, so big thank you anyway!
Now it turns out that I need to farm Manticore eyes in Elite because I greatly out levelled the area in Normal and they won't drop :')
@@vivid287 Endless farming fun. Cheers for the comments 👊🙂
Hi very cool guide made me fire up GD again^^
i do have a question, it seems you have mods installed, could you tell me your mod list?
The only mod I use is Rainbow Item filter, just some text files that change the text colours in item and skill tooltips.
@@Arcadelife1 cool i will get that makes it easier to Spot whats what, thanks again :D
@@HakoYigarashi Here’s a link to my video about that mod - ruclips.net/video/Lq6sLDytFvE/видео.html
I probably wont get an answer since its an older video but I was wondering why going for fire damage instead of lightning? Is there any benefit to that? Kymons blades would work perfectly with arcanist here
@@MrSuvvri Thanks for the comment - I always (try to) answer questions on older videos if RUclips shows me a notification. I went with EoR fire damage to try out EoR fire damage using that weapon with 100% conversion. It’s not because I prefer fire damage over lightning damage or because one is better than the other - just a challenge to stay minimal on skills and push the fire damage as far as possible.
@@Arcadelife1 awesome, thank you for replying! i've seen few of your videos and love that you do "weird" or non meta builds, keep it up! :D
@edit
also I just noticed that kymons blade get the bonuses to MoE so I guess only for the 3s after you press it.. I thought it was for maivens sphere so it would be passive lol
I never noticed that hidden area in FG. thanks. I really want to try this skill. And that shrine area too? I missed it.
Thanks for the comment, great to hear this stuff is useful 👊🙂
@Arcadelife1 hey earlier today I unlocked "Ultimate" I decided to continue with elite. Right past the Gloomwald gate merchant I saw a SKULL on my map. IT was Kubakabra. We fought but neither one of us could kill each other. I was using my level 82 /debuff/retaliation/regen Deathknight. Is there a trick to killing it? I would regen up , so would it. After a 25 minute fight we both were still at full health. I rifted out to get away . Any ideas on that particular Nemesis boss?
Here’s a recent video of a kubacabra fight. I used hit-and-run tactics (kiting); you need to be doing fairly high damage and also not getting into a facetank brawl if you can avoid it. ruclips.net/video/pfhGioHVoR8/видео.html
@@Arcadelife1 Thank you Arcade. Looks like I have to learn to kite. Just to damage him! Appreciate your help! First time I have ever fought a boss that was "stalemated".! Thanks again!
Hello, I love watching your video, I can't make it to 16K dps. I have the same gun. What am I doing wrong? Right now I'm carrying a 2 hand weapon because the dps is better. Can you help me?
Hi, my first thought is your comment refers to a different video because this video is a levelling guide (part 1) for an eye-of-reckoning Templar. The only gun I use is a temporary item until I get the EoR skill which needs a melee weapon to function at all.
To increase damage, put skill points into main damage skill(s), select devotions that buff your main damage type(s), and refer to the damage numbers on character tab 2 when swapping any gear items to see if the damage goes up or down on the mouse-button skills.
Will you eventually get Vire's Might + Volcanic Stride?
Not on this character. The whole point is to be spinning around like an idiot using that one ‘spinning idiot’ skill. It’s minimalism in extremis. Sadly, I ended up having way more fun than I expected.
@@Arcadelife1 I have a Whirling Dervish build, probably have it all cocked up though, but I have fun with it. So, I guess that is all that matters in the end. LOL
@@MrVindler Yeah, I tend to always aim for fun with these builds but there's often an overlap into making a build that works reasonably well because most of the fun comes from whupping bosses and clearing large groups in some kind of spectacular fashion.
@@Arcadelife1 sounds like I may have to try this build.
took me about 10 runs to get the slicer, but the first one had fire damage and attack speed :)
Well done! Luckily it’s not a massive chore to farm once you have that rift open. Also, fire damage and attack speed is a big 👍
Great! I'm on run #5. Hopefully 10 is the limit haha
5 is my new lucky number lol
a slicer is pretty "easy" to farm too as it drops from ANY of those little dinosaurs of a certain type.
the "difficult" part is theres 4 different dinosaur types and 4 different slicers
Patch 1.2 reduced the drop-rate so the farming for this weapon (any non-boss monster infrequent item) is more of a chore now.
@@Arcadelife1 yes but "boss" monsters drop almost 100% of the time. siding with the northeast faction has a differebt rift with a "boss" dinosaur with the axe you want. the rift is MUCH harder then the one in your video though, monsters do chaos and vitality damage
my spinlord died to some stuns. Good luck!
Yeah, stun resist is a good one to max out.
@@Arcadelife1 :D
what are some loot filters you would be using
Turning off common (white) and magic (yellow) items is the full extent of my loot-filtering. Using the Rainbow Item filter mod (just some text files) allowed me to train my brain to recognise potentially useful stuff. Also, I’m too stupid to be able to set up a loot filter correctly.
discovered your channel today. great guides, very detailed, easy to understand. Hope you´ll jump on the Titan Quest 2 Train ;)
Cheers for the comment, always much appreciated.
I’ll definitely be getting into TQ2 (unless it’s a complete disaster) - spent many many hours on TQ back when that first came out.
@@Arcadelife1 how can it be a disaster, really, the company has success on its first game. just copy its own formula and imporve on it.
didn't i comment about oathkeeper being mana sufficient on their own? 0o The comment is gone...
No idea about the comment mate, I never personally remove any comments but I can’t vouch for the randomness of RUclips.
I have run this rift so many times that I got 4 levels and still no RiftCore Slicer, this drop rate is horrible
Yeah, you have Patch 1.2 to thank for the castrated drop-rates of non-boss monster-infrequent items. I’m hoping they fix this and I’m sure you are too 👊🙂
@@Arcadelife1 if you side with the north eastern faction the "boss" of the red rift has an 85% chance of dropping the axe you want.
the only issue is THAT rift is full of chaos enemies you might not have resistance to at level twenty
@@airiakizuki5592 That would probably be a good place to farm upgrades later. I didn’t know that boss dropped the weapon, cheers for the information 👊🙂
@@Arcadelife1 yeah, im just saying chaos and vitality resistance isnt something youll have at level twenty. you might even have zero of both, makes that rift iffy on hardcore
