I’ve been playing WolfQuest since 2010 - it was my favourite thing to play after school. It has remained one of my favourite games I’ve ever been able to play, and now, as an adult, I’m still very excited to see the game progress and play a whole new game in the new version. i havent played old wolf quest in a long time but i wanted wolf quest anniversery edtion so bad it was my dream game but its for pc so my dad built me a computer to play it i was so happy
Ok This game is literally looking amazing I’m so excited to play slough creek I can’t believe ho much this game has improved and how far this game has come this is looking so much better than 2.7 and I don’t think any game has improved this much as wolf quest!
I'm a 3D artist who also happens to live in Montana. I have some reference pictures of river ice I took last fall that I'd be willing to share if you were interested.
ICEEEE the details on that and how the river will change- You guys go beyond amazing. Keep up all the good work because us WQ players out here love it!
I know Wolf Quest since I was a teen and today I'm almost 28 and I still loved the game and when I seen what hard work you guys have put into it. I have returned to play it big time! So much more life into it! Truly love the mechanic and the liveness in the animals and just I always expect more things to do such as maybe digging, or caves, or even dens where the wolfs can sleep in. And with the way you guys work so well I don't doubt some good things are about to come! Thank you so much for that experince! Truly this game made me appreciate wolfs so much and love them.!
I think perhaps wolf quest could come out with some more wolf skins? Also when I clicked on this I thought the title was *Nice Lice* and I was like “parasites in wolf quest?”
Hey wolfquest, I just want to let the group know, You guys are doing amazing with this game! I love how much detail you put trying to make it realistic yet still fun! Good job guys
Dang this looks amazing wq! I honestly can’t wait to play the slough creek episode! And can’t wait for the puppy’s! I love how far you guys have come and can’t not wait to see more!
I love how much detail you and the WolfQuest team put into this game. The teensie, tiny details will overall make the game even more beautiful than it already is.
I love that the seasons are changing in Wolfquest. I love the fact that there are ice floes, so that the season transitions. This is why, my friends, why I live in British Colombia, because of the fact that the seasons change and transition, and I'm glad to see that ingame, too! :)
I'm falling more and more in love with the new Slough Creek map, with all the realistic attention to detail. The ice in the wintertime is the perfect touch, and I love how the wolves can walk on it without slipping. Awesome work, as always! :D
Gosh I can’t wait until the mobile version is available! My PC is too slow to handle the game, so I had to use mobile, and I remember thinking when I first got it how pretty the game was. But THIS is on a WHOLE NEW LEVEL!!
That’s flippin’ epic. I seriously am more amazed every time at the amount of detail you guys put into this game. It’s so great, I love the community and how you guys are so involved with us. Unfortunately, some of the big companies don’t care at all and treat their customers poorly, and overcharge on everything because it’s all about profit for them. But you guys do everything you can to make the game as great as it can be, listen to the community, and pack as much as you can into a low-cost game, making sure we get our money’s worth. Basically, just thank you for everything that you do.
That's amazing!!! Wolves and snow were always the perfect mix to me, and I didn't even think of big ol' ice blocks in the water! This world is so expansive and beautiful, I hope I'll be able to get a good gaming computer eventually so I can experience it to the fullest extent
On the subject of ice, I think that the wolves should be able to do a little animation when where they get up on the ice, they use their dew claws to grip the ice and pull themselves up. I’ve seen this with dogs, so I’d assume wolves’ dew claws would work the same way
early in my life i had this HUGE wolf obsession (1st-early 4th) and i used to play this game 24/7. really warms my heart to see that it’s still being worked on and it’s getting better every time i look at it. i got the anniversary edition yesterday and i’ve played it nonstop-excited to see where’s it’s headed!
I completely forgot it was Thursday so you bet I practically screamed when I saw this notification. I’ve read about wolves and their hunting behavior and how ice and water ties into it. For example, prey (elk in this case) running into the water to keep away while the wolves pace on the bank. I wonder how the elk in game will react to this! And welcome to the team Donovin!
Didn't even think about ice being added to rivers. Just absolutely stunning and how fast you create them is even more surprising. Just shows how well developed this game is. Can't wait XD
Do you think you'd be interested in making the "ice river" an interesting strategic point,as in: if wolves cant slip on ice, maybe preys like elks or others could slip on it,so the player could simply chase after a prey and lead it all the way to the ice to make it easier to catch ?
I love wolf quest 3!! Its amazing how realistic it looks! Its just amazing how u even kept floppy the moose and the black cat that sat at the police station. I really enjoy the game already even if i can only watch videos of it. Keep up ur amazing work!💖
Oooooh that Ice looks *fancy.* I don't think my computer will be able to handle that, but I mean it surprisingly can run a hosted multiplayer game on Amythest so I guess I won't know till its out! You guys are doing an absolutely amazing job! I can't wait to see it in person.
You might be able to! It seems like Dave is using Normal maps and not Displacement maps on the ice. Normal maps will not affect the ice's actual mesh shape so your computer won't have to render that. It just creates false shadows that react to light as if it did have special 3d geometry, but in reality it doesn't so weaker devices can handle it! This is how beautiful games such as Red matter can run smoothly on a snapdragon (A snapdragon is the processer for the Oculus quest, and it's a tiny bit stronger than a mobile device.) On the other hand, Displacement maps modify and extrude a mesh's geometry, which is almost, but not as problematic for weaker computers as actual over-subdivided meshes would be. You should be in the clear!
@@ohhi1855 Oh awesome! Thank you, I did not know that! However, I still don't know if my computer will be able to run Slough creek in general. But after what you said I'm slightly more confident it will run it. Then again, my fps doesn't usually go above 14-15fps (sometimes it stays at 17, and rarely on 24fps if I'm standing idle) and I'm on the lowest graphics setting so hopefully Slough creek wont be too much more complex than Amythest is already.
Ayyy!! I love the so far process a lot, parts of the world already looks like a photograph which I’ve learned to appreciate. The ice is really nicely done and references are well used imo. There is one thing I’ve been meaning to suggest for quite a while though, which would be more gameplay related. The wolf in its current animations oftentimes feels rather stiff and its option to jump is rather reduced to the x. I understand that jumping may not be supposed to be too complex or common but a variety in movement can really make an animal feel more alive. Crouching down fully with CTRL and jumping with SPACE makes platforming a lot more fun for me and I feel like it would make controlling the wolf a lot more familiar to people who have past gameplay experience. Small idle animations like yawning, stretching, lifting the head up and down or just scratching themselves could really make the wolf feel more alive when we don’t actively control them. I’ve sadly always felt a certain lack of muscle movement within the body of the animations, which I’ve been meaning to express in a constructive manner, however I understand I am no game developer and am trying to apply fun gameplay logic to a simulator. ;; Regardless of how this criticism is taken, if it is reviewed at all, I wish the project best of luck and look forward to playing the full release version one day, regardless of the direction it will take from here on out! uvu
I think this is really cool! I never assumed we'd get free time out in early spring without pups. 2.7 was just "Boom you have pups and it's spring now" (this might also be the first time I've seen one of your videos without a dislike in sight 🤣)
I actually have a wolf quest idea So like when it's like raining and stuff like that and then there are thunder and then when it hits a tree it lits the tree up on fire,so when it does that I think it should go to different types of trees and if you go to the fire or the tree on fire it damages your health almost half way. I really hope this does happen because it be really cool and a bit realistic I think 😅 but yeah
I had an idea, of like a mound of snow that can be some sort of den in the winter, because isn't snow warmer on the inside than the outside? Unless somebody's already had the idea, or you're already doing this, or maybe think it'd be too much, that's okay, but still. It would be really cool.
I hope they make it so some prey animals slip around on the ice a bit while running which could slow them down ? And make turning more risky at hunting prey while on ice. Could also make a splashing aniamtation when the wolves jump into water. And have the wolves look soaked when coming out and a shake animation. Maybe even the ice can crack when it becomes warmer and your wolf will fall in the water?
Like "snow" 🗻 melts in yellowstone when "spring" comes, OUR "HEARtS" ❤ will melt when "puppies" will come ' They're so "cuttteee" ' !!!@!!!! My cuTie PIEs !!😍😍😍😍

AAAAAA THIS GAME IS LOOKING REALLY GOOD!!! I can’t wait for the Mobile version so I can play, might get a laptop soon though! I really can’t wait to play this! I think my wolf character Rain and her mate Shadow will love the new WolfQuest game!
I was thinking maybe in multiplayer, since you don't have to find a mate and I'm guessing you can choose to be in Slough Creek without having pups, that both Slough Creek and Amethyst Mountain could go through all four seasons if you stay on the server for long enough and maybe loop or something? Btw, here I thought Shelter 2 had the most gradual season change in games ever, but here we are!
It'd be cool if we could chase prey onto the ice. I remember reading somewhere that wolves are way better on ice than hooved animals.
