For those who want to try this at home: Don't do this at home. Not unless you're an adult with proper protection and knowledge of how to safely operate a high power laser. It's really dangerous equipment. It's a good video though.

BEFORE you even get a laser, you need laser safety glasses. Just think, if a laser can light a match, realize that it will burn your eyes too. I strongly suggest you watch some Laser safety videos on RUclips before you screw with this. Also the Laser Pointer Forum is a good source of advice.
You are absolutely correct. Lasers that are as powerful as these, can damage your eyes permanently, in a fraction of a second. And the beam doesn't even have to shine directly into your eye. It can reflect off something & still cause damage.
These are not $1.99 toy lasers for playing with cats. (which can also cause serious damage) Idiots + lasers = a high probability of blinding. 🙈 😎

Good idea to use lasers with different objects. However, safety precautions must be taken to avoid looking directly into those high frequency laser beams.

Can I perform experiments with cheaper lasers and less gear with less precise results? Or do I need some sort of oscillating tool to modulate wavelength? I understand I'll get better results with better equipment but I can't afford it. Though the properties of light fascinates me greatly so I'm willing to accept subpar results until I can get better things.

Hey from another youtuber , on a jet fighter plane they disassembled the iR hone- inf iR mechanism on its pivoting motion that includes a lazer defractor to beam highest gamma white light like through mirrors and a prism crystal to split its visible light into separate colors and through high density lenses... to utilize many forms of lenses tubing, its a high powered lazer diode and through specialized rgb defraction to turn a cameras night vision blk nnwhite backninto color, i guess you could put the video back to color with software, i guess vasically these iR and visible iR lazers you could make a high profiled xray cam, and plus turn the iR diodes also into a wifi antenna and or a eeg mind capture devices all two ibto one, or if you want incorporate sound spying high density microphone, and if yu wabt Supersonic Mic or speakers to project sound through walls

Make sure you get appropriate laser goggles for whatever wavelength you buy.
Even the 5mW version is Class 3B which means it can still damage your eye if you aren't careful.
The higher powered ones will permantly damage your eye immediately...you can't close your eye fast enough to prevent damage.

Hello Sir, this is awesome. Sir I need some laser diode, will you help me to get them or how can i get it.
Anything over 2 watts I wouldn’t even use indoors unless you have something to shine it on as a barrier that it can’t go through like a big rock or tile or something and of course with glasses on due to the brightness there will be and because of risk of starting a accidentally fire. Under two watts you can be okay as long as your careful and not holding it at the wall at one spot for any given amount of time and also if you have a barrier which don’t hurt. Under 2 watts you can technically be okay without glasses if your super careful and only shine it on dark things that are mostly black that absorb most of the light but it’s very risky, light colored objects will still be super bright and could cause long term damage overtime, and if you hit something reflective it’s over for your eyes. And ofcourse don’t even shine it and anything living or aircraft’s or other peoples houses as it could hurt someone and get you a felony. Just looking out for y’all.

light carries energy. when it hits the blue balloon it just gets absorbed and sent off in another direction. when it hits an object with another color it doesn't get absorbed by the color component, but something in the rubber. the rubber doesn't send out the energy as blue light, but as light of other wavelengths. among them is light in the infrared spectrum, which can directly turn into heat when it hits other atoms. this is how I understand it. there is surely a ton of videos about this topic on RUclips.

These lasers have a shitty spectral profile and collimation, there is no way to tune them, or mount them on an optical table, so they are useless in a research lab. Pretty much the only thing you can do with them is to pop balloons and blind aircraft pilots.

in school we were doing an experiment in physics and I had a blue one shone in my eye, It was red for like two weeks but the redness went after I used some eye drops, my optician xrayed my eye and it took a bit of the top layer of skin off. I'm fine now though:) That laser wasn't as strong and bright as these ones though

This is a Real lighsaber!!!
The balloon trick is so awesome! I remember physics class, when the teacher says that an object with a color only reflects that color of light (that's why you see it), and absorbs all other colors. He also said photons (light) carry energy (to move, etc.). Combine those two, and you get the first experiment. The blue balloon reflects the blue light, so it is unharmed, but the red balloon absorbs the blue light which heats up the rubber (because of the energy the photons carry) and pops! So amazing! Too bad these lasers are illegal in a whole lot of countries, or I'd have bought myself one of these. They look so pretty :o!

purple ones is the wicked laser's lunar (500mw), red is the inferno (nearly 1w or 1,000mw), blue is the arctic (2w is in the video, but u can get the 700mw, 1400mw, 2w, or 3.5w) green is krypton (1w in video, but you can also get the 300mw, 500mw, and 1w) on wickedlasers.com
