When you said Illinois I knew there would be some rot cases but also some very nice cars that were stored inside. Thunderbird and Pontiac coupe both awesome. No clue on that bush basher buggy but it looks like fun!
Oh the adventures you find, thanks for bringing us along, thumbs up, its amazing what is out there, I used to have a catolog of VW body conversions, they had everything,
Being a Pontiac fan, loved seeing the 39, but especially the 35. Pretty rare that both had the 8 instead of the much more common 6. The 35 had the Indian maiden hood ornament (first year for hood ornament as 34 and older had outside radiator caps). The 8 had the Indian maiden, the 6 had the Indian head with the feather. It is amazing that the Indian maiden hood ornament still had the feather on top of her head and not broken off. I have a real nice 35 Indian maiden hood ornament but it is missing the feather. That 35 is about as good as a restoration candidate as you are going to find when it comes to a 35 Pontiac. I hope you can buy it.
Land o' lakes,wi...here ! ..your up here in the rust belt,,,,come up any farther north they just start to disappear !!!😮.... just horrible to see them up here on top of wisconsin,,,gone with the wind,,,,,notsorry.,,,,,,,tnx, great content again,,,pat&family..
7:15..Amen, brother!.."I just don't like modified cars"..finally, a kindred spirit on this...butchery is what I call it..the current butchery is slamming, bagging, and LS swapping everything...
The '36 Pontiac is the gem. The 8C model to boot! What a rare gem that'll be once restored. I'd return it back to the blue color with black wall tires.
Hi Bud, that orange buggy had a lot of Triumph parts on it, maybe a Triumph Herald or Spitfire with the twin carbs being factory fitted, If It was a Herald back axle the rear wheels would lean at funny angles until the car was loaded but the spitfire had a more controlled rear axle alignment, so I suggest it has a non-triumph rear axle. Now the wheels look like MGB steelies so maybe an MGB axle - who knows.. Thanks for the video
Great vid as per usual Tim, thanks. Yep you've done yourself proud. You are the best YTuber in this category with your unique tone to your voice, (kinda soothing and Bing Crosby-ish). I'm a Brit and remember back in the 70's my brother owned a Chevy er. Bel-Air left hand drive that we would cruise about the country lanes blocking the whole road going from pub to pub burring PETROL at the rate of 17 gallons to the mile. I myself owned a Mustang fastback but obviously didn't appreciate it at the time as a "chick" magnet, and couldn't quite get the hang of the left hand drive. I bet Mustie 1 would like that snub nosed beetle, it' kinda cute. Keep 'em cummins buddy, and greetings from the Isle of Wight, England
The 66 thunderbird vinyl top has been replaced (like many have) The vinyl seam from the factory was near the edge on both sides of the roof. On this one the seam is inboard quite a ways because the vinyl was so narrow compared to factory.
That first one was a 1940 Ford coupe. 39 would have the wipers mounted over the top of the windshield, and the windshield had a frame that cranked out. 39 was ford's last year for the crank out windshield.
Those are called end gate seeders originally for horse drawn wooden wagons with some kind of ground drive chain to wagon hub for broadcasting small grains.
I can settle the debate on the "whatzit corner" i bought it at the auction and had a week figuing it out. it is a 1962 tr3 engine, drivetrain, and 3/4 of the chassis, front suspension and crossmember is out of 53 to 62 corvette. It is now running and driving.
That Pontiac coupe looks like all you would need fresh plugs fresh oil change fresh tires flush out old gas or replace the tank and it looks like you could go for a cruise ! So glad those mean yankee raccoons didn’t tear up the interior of that coop !
I guess it's been mentioned already but the orange buggy is a Triumph TR. The body probably rotted off early in the piece and it was to good mechanically to scrap so it became a buggy.
I think most of these vehicles must have come from fairly local sources. Northern Illinois is notorious for road salt damage... But there are still a lot of savable vehicles in the group. The Pontiac is a real gem. I would prefer a regular trunk to a rumble seat, but as rare as these are you take what you can get. The shoebox Fords were nice, as was the '55 Crown Vic. Some people are going to come away from this auction very happy...and considerably poorer....
The earth actually breaths water vapor in and out even through concrete, that's why vapor barriers are required under the concrete for houses. Our dairy barn ended up a car storage barn, 20 years and all inside were rusted from bottom up.
I know people like that in our area. I try to work on one vehicle until it’s where it needs to be. I build rat rods though so fit and finish take a back seat to safety
1/2 Ass Customs needs that 39 coupe..Yes the bent up Chevy pickup is a 51..The 46 prk lights on the Ford is like the 41s and 42s..47-48 were under the headlights..
What a shame that 53 Merc at 3:15 was so damaged by racoons. My 52 is still missing a headliner thanks to those destructive beasts. Otherwise it survived pretty well. I see the carb and intake has been changed over to the 3 bolt Ford style carburetor from the original 4 bolt Holley.
So let me get this. You rescue some vintage iron that is rusting away in one yard. Bring it home so it can continue to rust in your yard. Yep makes perfect sense
The wooden yard sticks gave me a chuckle ! When I was a child, my brothers and I would often get our spankings with the old wooden yard sticks.....until my mom broke one on my brother's backside.....then, we started getting the belt !
The "whatzit corner" is a Triumph but not a Herald or Spitfire engine as it is too big, although it is still a 4. I would say it is a TR 2 or 3. The dash in this "thing" has TR 2 /3 style gages and that binnacle for the minor gages is out of one of those cars.
That makes sense. The look of the buggy was from the time when a Spitfire would have still been a new car, too valuable yet to have been cut up for a project like this
I grew up in rural cass county nebraska and i remember every creek that wandered across the farms and fields had old cars along the banks for erosion and flood control.
I had an environmental sciences class in college and learned about the days of the erosion control using junk cars in the banks ....they didn't take much into consideration - with the old oil and fluids that polluted the very streams they were trying to save !
A buddy found a 37 International truck in a hillside in eastern Colorado,. Property own there said if you can dig it out you can have it. Made for a very crusty rat rod
Wife’s sister and her husband live in Illinois. Max and I looked at a Jeep he was interested in. I mentioned that he needed to negotiate hard as it needed a frame swap. Body wasn’t too bad but the frame had rust holes in it
hearing some of your personal journey on your videos is great because it shows how u made growth and decisions.
This video was intoxicating! With the birds accompaniment you are a master history teller. From Canada these old American farms are so interesting.
Oh wow, I see some treasures!!!😍
Their is never a dull moment listening to you. Sir have a great day.
Mr. B. Here ! Mr. Goodpliers , a other great place you have found ! 🚗🚐🇺🇸🔧⚙️🛠️🔩🧰 👍👍🍺🍺
What a beauty the thunderbird is
Love these stories of yours.
Cool collection
When you said Illinois I knew there would be some rot cases but also some very nice cars that were stored inside. Thunderbird and Pontiac coupe both awesome. No clue on that bush basher buggy but it looks like fun!

What a fantastic tour of automotive art. Thank you!
Nice cars thank you for the video
Yeah that Pontiac has me foaming at the mouth-what a beauty!
Always an education. Thank you and God bless
Wow Tim! That 35 Pontiac was the gem of the auction! Those magnesium wheels are worth some serious $$$$
Being a Pontiac fan, loved seeing the 39, but especially the 35. Pretty rare that both had the 8 instead of the much more common 6. I just hope someone doesn't buy it and "Rod" it or "customize" it or "restomod" it.. :(
That 47 Merc really catches my eye!
Amazing collection of classics!.😊
Looks like 2 much fun mr pliers cheers 😊
32:46 Nice Wilton Bullet Vise on the workbench.
Ha ha thought of you when I saw it and before I read your comment.
My dad would build trailers they sold like hot cakes. I really enjoy the memories. Thank you.
I love the 35 pontiac real gangster looking beast would clean up nicely.cheers from sth Australia 🇦🇺 👍
I like the steel wheels on that pontiac
Hi tim the 56s an tbird is my picks. Cheers mate🇦🇺
Wow, What a beaut at 40:25 Thank You & Regards from Ody Slim
Land o' lakes,wi...here ! ..your up here in the rust belt,,,,come up any farther north they just start to disappear !!!😮.... just horrible to see them up here on top of wisconsin,,,gone with the wind,,,,,notsorry.,,,,,,,tnx, great content again,,,pat&family..
Thanks for the tour Tim, sure wish I could buy that Mercury coupe next to the nice thunderbird, but unless you buy it I have no chance.
That green Pontiac was an impossible dream.
7:15..Amen, brother!.."I just don't like modified cars"..finally, a kindred spirit on this...butchery is what I call it..the current butchery is slamming, bagging, and LS swapping everything...
Yeah every decade you think "It can't get any more terrible than this" then some repulsive fad outdoes the previous one 😫
Great event. Wish I could have been there.
The '36 Pontiac is the gem. The 8C model to boot! What a rare gem that'll be once restored. I'd return it back to the blue color with black wall tires.
😂 great show keep up the good work be safe my friends God bless all
Tim, find a way to grab that poncho, you earned it.
Great looking car but as you said so much work.
It's got a TR3 engine and guages

At 18:00 buggy looks just like the one in the movie Eegah, Arch Hall jr. had it I think he also had it a few others.
Ok, I would have been interested in a few of these cars!
58:16..yep, that's one green tractor...but if you look carefully at the grill and hood, you can tell it's modeled after a Farmall...
The 66 thunderbird vinyl top has been replaced (like many have) The vinyl seam from the factory was near the edge on both sides of the roof. On this one the seam is inboard quite a ways because the vinyl was so narrow compared to factory.
The decal on the Pontiac next to the Cubs decal seems to be a barbershop quartet membership.
He must have been one rich farmer with an understanding wife take care
i like the old tractors..
Good show
This farmer really knew what was going to be worth money in the future!
They have nice cars there!
Nice finds
That first one was a 1940 Ford coupe. 39 would have the wipers mounted over the top of the windshield, and the windshield had a frame that cranked out. 39 was ford's last year for the crank out windshield.
Just want to say GOOD LUCK restoring these wrecks missing to many parts
Those are called end gate seeders originally for horse drawn wooden wagons with some kind of ground drive chain to wagon hub for broadcasting small grains.
Well fortunately for me, I did not see anything I could not live without. Saw a lot of what I saw as a kid growing up in the 60's tho...
I can settle the debate on the "whatzit corner" i bought it at the auction and had a week figuing it out. it is a 1962 tr3 engine, drivetrain, and 3/4 of the chassis, front suspension and crossmember is out of 53 to 62 corvette. It is now running and driving.
Cool vehicles. My fav. from the lot are:
3100 Chevrolet Pickup 2:44
the Chevy truck 43:58
The extra roof on the Merc was probably for a planned top chop ,common mod on an old Merc
Welcome to rust county!
Welcome to the rust ranch!
That Pontiac coupe looks like all you would need fresh plugs fresh oil change fresh tires flush out old gas or replace the tank and it looks like you could go for a cruise ! So glad those mean yankee raccoons didn’t tear up the interior of that coop !
Bugs had lincoln fronts too. If you look at the elgin boat motor you will find it is a Sears & Roebuck. I have one that still runs.
I like you old car guy as you know many cars I don't know
I guess it's been mentioned already but the orange buggy is a Triumph TR. The body probably rotted off early in the piece and it was to good mechanically to scrap so it became a buggy.
🗿63-65?
Very sad to see lifetime of someone.
So many dreams unrealized
History in pieces.
Rust and gravity always win.
I think most of these vehicles must have come from fairly local sources. Northern Illinois is notorious for road salt damage...

Isn't that the hobby of cars though
The earth actually breaths water vapor in and out even through concrete, that's why vapor barriers are required under the concrete for houses. Our dairy barn ended up a car storage barn, 20 years and all inside were rusted from bottom up.
The GREEN toy tractor is an Eska International Harvester small M . Another RED tractor originally
I have a model of a 1970s International tractor in red, but not sure what model company made it.
I had a 66 T Bird, I was hoping you would have shown the swing away steering wheel.
I remember they had a unique sideways tilt steering.
Beautiful car - to bring it up to life it would take someone with knowledge and money - imagine the average person having a car like that.
Very cool 35 Pontiac!
Looks like a lotta projects that got started and never finished at all
Yep
I know people like that in our area. I try to work on one vehicle until it’s where it needs to be. I build rat rods though so fit and finish take a back seat to safety
1/2 Ass Customs needs that 39 coupe..Yes the bent up Chevy pickup is a 51..The 46 prk lights on the Ford is like the 41s and 42s..47-48 were under the headlights..
Believe the white and black 56 was a 2 door hard top club sedan, the wide strip of chrome is missing.
So did you buy the Pontiac 3-window coupe?
My mother’s aunt had a farm like that way back! Too bad she sold it! I want the 1940 ford and 40 Plymouth, and 1935 Pontiac
So let me get this. You rescue some vintage iron that is rusting away in one yard. Bring it home so it can continue to rust in your yard. Yep makes perfect sense
Cold War Motors does the same. Keeps them from being crushed
It's more of a foster home. I don't get too attached, and everything has a price
Crown Victoria worh money. Put ad in crown Victoria association club sell them & old vehicle
The wooden yard sticks gave me a chuckle ! When I was a child, my brothers and I would often get our spankings with
the old wooden yard sticks.....until my mom broke one on my brother's backside.....then, we started getting the belt !
Nice old Pontiac
The "whatzit corner" is a Triumph but not a Herald or Spitfire engine as it is too big, although it is still a 4. I would say it is a TR 2 or 3. The dash in this "thing" has TR 2 /3 style gages and that binnacle for the minor gages is out of one of those cars.
I agree that it is a TR 3. The instruments on the dash are taken from the same car.
That makes sense.
The look of the buggy was from the time when a Spitfire would have still been a new car, too valuable yet to have been cut up for a project like this
This guy loved his Fords those pre war 40 and behind are going big money I bet?
Had a 74 super beatle with the rolls Royce hood .
Square roll bar doodle bug doom buggy !
I like you old car car guy
I grew up in rural cass county nebraska and i remember every creek that wandered across the farms and fields had old cars along the banks for erosion and flood control.

illinois hackery, classic
Like anything from the fifties and forties
The Pontiac window sticker is for the society for the preservation of barbershop quartet singing in america.
Sad how the circle of life is and goes.
They made a gazelle (29) fiberglass body to put on a VW chassis.
The Buggy is a re-bodied Triumph TR3
Mr. Goodpriers sounds just like Richard Cristy.
What did he want for the 1935 Pontiac 3 window? Or did you buy it? LMK, thanks.
Illinois salts their roads. The frame, floors and underbody were probably gone before they were parked in the barn.
Wife’s sister and her husband live in Illinois. Max and I looked at a Jeep he was interested in. I mentioned that he needed to negotiate hard as it needed a frame swap. Body wasn’t too bad but the frame had rust holes in it
He walked away from that one
It is a lyre not a harp on barbershop decal
7:19 Amen to that.
Must be close to where I grew up.
looking at all the rust, your not in kansas anymore
.......YOU'RE not in Kansas anymore......learn English......
Whats the website for the auction?
amidst the bird song
Mercury/Lincoln and Cadillac engines had more nickel content to block/head metal mix. Can take more heat and excessive abusion wear
think the buggy had an austin engine , if it's not that then its prob an early triumph one
S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. is a barber shop quartet society.
