Nice house & yard. I really like the gazebo for relaxing outside under a covered hut. Mike--good point about keeping your leverage by not paying a year in advance--that's something I could talk myself into without thinking about the consequences. I think Janet is addicted to shoes--I don't think I've seen such a large collection of shoes outside a home--is that a Used Shoe store or is it a part of "Dumaguete Rentals"? 😀
No one pushes anyone to come or not to come to certain areas of the Philippines. You all choose a place and go there. No ones forcing anyone to go anywhere……
We did something similar, when we found this rental house. We still had 2 months left on the lease to our condo in Pasig (Metro Manila), but we knew finding a house like this was rare, and we needed to get our Daughter enrolled in a school in Pampanga, before the new school year began. So we were still paying 23K/month on the condo, which really wasn't bad, since we had a place to sleep, on the weekends when we went there. But I was also paying my mortgage on my U.S. house, waiting for it to sell. And my mortgage was as much as my monthly retirement income! 😲 Plus the 35K for the rental house! Sure blew through a big chunk of my savings, during that time! Otherwise, we could have bought a much bigger house, than what we ended up with. Nice yard! Something that's hard to find, here! 😢
I have been nearly everywhere in PI looking with the eyes of a retiree and Dumaguete was my best choice. It is not just about the natural beauty of the place. You can get more of that in Palawan, but they don't have hospitals, shopping malls or even an immigration office to renew your visa! Duma has all of that and an airport with a new international airport confirmed to be built. Real Estate will go up a lot when that happens, get in while you still can afford it.
Mike the place looks nice plenty of room..bit pricy but pay for what you get...I didn't see any views. Out side . You two seem very relaxed and happy there. Brian in Australia.
Mike, I'll be in town tomorrow. Looking for a house rental, not really worried about location, but a big back yard and/or land is a #1 requirement for me. 20-30K per month, and where the owner will allow me to landscape the land, of course that means I'm okay with yearly leases. If you see something like this, let me know, I'd appreciate it.
Hello Janet and Mike so sorry to say that , in my meaning the foreigner especially from the U.S. destroy the renting prices in the phillipines ! 600 dollar for rent without anything happy days in Germany more then 50 % of pensioners have less then 1000€ it`s nearly the same in dollar Pension it´s not a joke maybe we are poor like phillipine people ! Regards from Germany , nothing for bad Janet and Mike
I think rental prices will see a big decrease correction mid year in 2025 at least in the Manila area. The first of the year all POGOs are to be shut down, they employed thousands of Chinese that will be forced back to China since they will actually be on a Tourist visa at that time.
600 Dollars pM and then 300 dollars for aircon as PH has incredible height electric prices & then 350 Dollars for o International HeakthCare = PH is far to expensive in housing & electric compared to other Asian countries 👎
Renting is one of the worse things you can do in Dumaguete. Being at the mercy of these landlords who can't give a rats ass when it comes to electrical, plumbing, roof leaks and you are just throwing money away. Also, if these are your property choices in Dumaguete, either select another city or province or better yet, just stay in America. You are not going to get the batch insulation as in the States. Maintenance and repairs generally fall on the tenant. Dumaguete lacks advance hospitalization, shopping, transit and road infrastructure.
You guys gonna run yourself outta dumagete with these videos. Prices going up cause everybody and their mother making videos about come to Dumagete. Start making videos sending people to other islands lol 😂
Janet and Mike, you have a great looking place.
