- HARDCORE Pylon RACING from PILOT POSITION (BMFA NATS 2017) [*UltraHD and 4K*]
Follow the pilot to the start line and get an insight into how difficult it is to fly one of these hot pylon race machines for 8 laps. Not only does the pilot have to fly the model close to the flags (without cutting) but they are continuously turning around to keep the model in view! Not something I could do without getting dizzy. BMFA Pylon Champ, Ollie Witt, at the controls in this race.
Filmed at the British Model Flying Association (BMFA) Power Nationals ('NATS') event 2017 using the Panasonic AG-UX180 4K pro camcorder by 'Dom Mitchell' of Essential RC RUclips channel.

I remember when I would lose power/run out of fuel. Everyone in the club would get super concerned that I would stall my aircraft or worse. I was at such great airplanes that they were just glide in. This was a great example of operator control!
I'm a controliner. This stuff is nutty
Some of the down wind passes after the turn: 42k rpm / 40.77k rpm / 41.92k rpm /41.5k rpm
Red socks in action....LOL...
Note: Dom, your tracking of the ultra fast modesl is for every compliment !!!
Wasn't easy buddy believe me. Nearly fell over on lap 6! Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
The sound of the engine in slo-mo is how my magnum 40 sounds full throttle ha!
AWSOME but I am a little dizy
Great video, brought back many happy memories as I raced in the (s)lower Sport 40 class late '80s to early '90s. The top F3D models (as shown) were faster but much less reliable!
How fast are the sport 40s?
@@NatedoGP Pylon racers aren't optimised for straight line speed, but if I remember right competitive Sport 40s would do 130+ mph ... pretty respectable for a box-standard throttled .40 on 5% nitro fuel. I flew mine at club fields occasionally and they were way quicker than anything else there ... aerobatic models with piped .60s for example.
@@btbplanevids very cool!
Unbelievable superfast...... Really good planes
What baffles me is how the pilots can see the attitude of their plane at that speed and distance, so as to keep it under control. To me, it looks just like a little speck. I can't even tell if the wings are horizontal or banked at 90 degrees, never mind sense it with the degree of accuracy that must be needed to fly like that!
That is nuts !!!
Go fast, Turn left
amazing video! Good thing the pilot is wearing that helmet...
So was I ! Not allowed in that zone without one. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
Been pylon racing last week ,but I hit the pylon and my plane was bin bagged. smashed the ic engine to bits all that was left was half prop and crankshaft..need a new prop now.😊
Wow!! Don't they need armor not only helmet?
I think the camera man needs a G suit lol GREAT CAMERA WORK!!!!!
Good video, but wish here was 4 planes up at once. :)
I used to fly control line with glow plug Supre Tigres. What type of engine is in these demons?
wow insane speed
The guy in the red shirt is my uncle
I’d get dizzy piloting that thing lol
Race is 10 laps not 8 as mentioned above.
Fast.😬😳
I wish I could fly like that!!!!
Lol
Can anybody tell me how fast that plane was flying? Unreal looking speed.
Just under 200mph. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
Essential RC oh man, well your video taking is exceptionally good, thanks for the video.
Sure its insane and dangerous
Hmmm. I don't think so. The pilots are not flying towards themselves so very very low risk of accidents. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
Where's the racing? It's only one plane going around and around by itself making a noise like a wasp in a jam jar.
Sound like fly on steroids
almost crashed the aircraft flight
My head keeps spinning n wanna phui...
Someone put a g meter on one
Racing? Himself?
Racing the clock I think. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
Essential RC Thanks. Cheers.
What i dont understand is why they are so stupid to fly above street or landingstrips.
No i am not a hard
core fan .Cost to
much nervers.HDK
This is clearly a closed off event and they are allowed to be there.....
