I started this build when I was 15 just didn’t have the time to finish it I’m not even upset about getting it anymore can’t wait to see what you guys do with it 😊
WOAH HE ENTERED THE CHAT (assuming this isn’t a fake)
@Jesse jordan how old are you now. You started at 15 when did you give up and when did you sell to these guys
@@edmacrae4521 I’m 19 now I would work on it then let it sit for a while and work on it again I did that like 4 times then I figured it was time to get rid of it
@Jesse jordan understandable, I've done the same shit, what's made you lose the drive or interest in finishing it, I looks like it like 90 percent complete
Young you did good . I’m sure you used what you had and could afford at the time. We don’t all have a full workshops and every tool . I remember bolting any engine on some really dodgy vehicles that I could find when I was younger and if I could get it to power a wheel I was over the moon . No way near as involved as your old cart .
Bet it will be great seeing your old project on here . Hope life’s treating you well 👍
That kid cloned an f150 twin i beam front supension. The speed holes add about 32.5 hp at least.
He must be a fan of Rather-B-Welding, that suspension setup is similar to the Grave Ninja front suspension design
I was going to say this same thing about the TTB suspension but add, looks like he used a Stop sign or street sign posts.🤔
I would love to meet this 16y.o. and shake his hand. Overall he did a killer (no pun intended) job. 👍
@relese_thebeast72 If he hasn't built and driven anything homemade . I don't think he would be with us today if he did.
@relese_thebeast72 I really hope he is. It'd be a hoot if he entered the chat.
16:30 Proud Mom and Pop steal a glimpse of the new Triumph cart. Good work Charles!
Charles walking in with his family then awkwardly going back out......😂
When did that happen
16:30
Kid did an excellent job. Least he wasn't laying on the couch with a game controller in his hand. I have a frame laying around that I'm waiting to give a young person I think will do something with it and be motivated to do so. Getting this into a young persons hands translates to keeping the dream alive. I feel the same way about 2A and giving out airguns.
Me 17 and my nephew 16 are planning to engine swap his car. After repairing another one he can drive while we do that. 😂
Hate to break it to you, but kids can play video games without being wastes of oxygen. I'm getting ready to put a transmission in my project car, but I still enjoy some video games now and then.
@@jinlo8324 for sure. I know functioning opiate addicts too, but they're very few and far between.
@@joshuagibson2520 Calm down old man.
@@jinlo8324 I don't think that's what they're saying
I wish we could have seen Charles and family when the peaked in the door. Looking forward to this build.
Ike, by a general rule of thumb, injectors get constant voltage from ignition source however the trigger is via ground (meaning the ground is what is pulsed) if u put your test like clip on the POS batt post and probe the other wire on the injector you will see your pulse. That pulse comes from a cam position sensor of some sort on the engine.
It doesn't matter whether you connect the testlight to battery positive or negative, it behaves the same.
The way Ike had it connected the testlight lights up while the injector is off (positive power is supplied through the injector) and should turn off when the injector is on (ecu side of the injector is pulled to ground so there's no voltage difference across the testlight anymore).
Connecting the light to battery positive just inverses it (light is off when the injector is off and on when the injector is on).
My guess for the actual reason that it didn't work is because it's an incandescent based testlight, which just isn't fast enough for the short pulses the ecu uses at low load.
Am injector has constant power no matter what so testing off pos side is wrong
This is why fuel injection is king, once you figure out the wiring gremlins they start up instantly and run amazing. And they sound amazing!!
19:40
Ike: "They don't normally just fix by checking fuses..."
*starts up instantly*
*Ike pikachu face*
I love it when CarsAndCameras pull out the big engines! Makes for some good content over the lawn mower engines. 💯💪🏻🔥
This project reminds me of one my buddy was working on about 20 years ago. We were going to stuff my spare Kawasaki KZ650 motor in a home built project he bought. It was heavier built than this one, with a Beetle front suspension and independent rear sprung with 2 sets of motorcycle forks mounted over the rear axles. If he still had it, I know I could get it up and running! (My skill level has risen exponentially since then, having worked in 2 auto body shops, and of course, watching you guys!)
love these kinds of builds. brings back memories from high school where we used to just put any random running engine on basicly anything we want. just one thing id like to point out that you may want consider is to relocate the radiator. where its located right now and how hot that water temp can potentially reach id be very scared if one of those lines blow that it will dump scolding hot anti freeze right onto the driver.
Look at Cleetus' old videos...a driver was burned badly due to a poorly placed radiator...
I came to make this exact comment. Extremely dangerous
I'm hoping they build a all new Rear Engine Sand Dragster with a huge sprocket on a very robust axle (thick with 4 bearings) with paddle tires and just one chain. It would be fun to throttle up in wet sand and have it lift you up as it dug in and hauled ass. Quick easy gear changes by replacing the front (engine) sprocket. No jackshaft, no belt, real o-ring chain, dump the clutch and rip.
They just need to replace the engine and use this one for a new build
I'd use it as a donor for a proper plans based buggy build. You've got the plasma table to cut the parts, the gear, and the shop. There are very few well documented builds and the buggy could support other group activities. Regardless, thanks for the video.
I am SO EXCITED for this project. I own a 1999 Triumph Speed Triple 955 and its a handful. Your engine looks like a slightly later Sprint 955 model. The SAGEM FI system can be temperamental but works great when everything is setup correctly. There is a free software called TuneECU which you can use to connect with a phone or computer and read trouble codes, test operation, change the engine mapping, and make adjustments.
I recently sold my 09 Triple and bought my 2020 Triple 765RS when it first came out. The Triples are the most rider friendly well balanced bikes ever produced. I owned and ridden dozens of bikes of the years and id take a triple over damn near anything else out there
Hell yeah, I have a 2003 S3 and she is the best bike ever, I live in Co so I get to ride through the mountains. I used the TuneECU software to remap the ECU to be more responsive and get rid of the hole between 3000-3800 rpm not sure why they shipped with a hole in the power-band but the software fixes it right up.
The vision of that kid is very impressive. We all make mistakes, especially as teenagers. With some practice and trial and error, kids going places.
Cars and Cameras still make mistakes worse than anything on this kart!
Nice. I used to race motorcycle engine race carts as a kid. The yankyness reminds me of those days. BTW, the blinking test light needs to be monitored on the ground side since that is the side that the computer is pulsing. Connect light to positive and the negative side of the injector instead of the positive to frame ground. I like this project......
youre exactly right. he could even use battery positive but the ground wire to the injector is the one that pulses
"I don't have high expectations" [rrVROOM!!!] Ike's look was classic.
Holy cow that thing sounds sweet. Can't wait to see the final project
Triples always sound good, even in cars.
Twin I Beam suspension is awesome. I eventually want my Yerfdog to have that setup in the front, with an RBG style semi-independent rear swing arm. I was thinking a 420 predator or bigger. But I just might go with a GY6 150cc for the off road capability.
try a atv engine ie a 700cc polaris they have reverse most gy6 dont
Great video
My opinion is a complete new frame.
Bend it out the way you want and use all those good parts.
For safety reasons start fresh
👍👍
You guys are Awesome!
As a maintenance guy for everything, including manufacturing plants, the worst thing was having to fix someone else’s “great idea”.
👍👍❤️
Sand rail sounds like a great idea!!!
I love the triumph triple whine the newer variant 1050s are incredible bikes :) good solid engines on those 955Is
I recently sold an 09 Street Triple 675 and bought the new and improved 2020 Triple 765RS. The design on the new engines is so bad ass. Out of all the bikes ive owned/rode the street triple is hands down the most rider friendly well balanced bikes ever produced
@@bassranger1054 they're fantastic I live the 765s I'm on a tuono 1100 v4 which is in a completely different league to the smaller engine bikes still good though but if you ever get chance of a tuono 1100 factory test ride it and you will fall in love with the greatest bike ever produced for back roads
me, sees title and immediately says to himself, oh shit, jons gonna crash. Love seeing a new video from you guys every time! After watching, yeah that thing sounds AWESOME!
Thing sounds awesome 🔥 Love to see this motor in the crosskart 🤔
Im glad you got it running without major repairs! Triumph 3cyl is the best sound in motorcycles! :)
16:30 There we can see a wild Charles, with his wife and kid poking through the door, they clearly see that they were recording and they turn around immediately XD
The laugh at 21:43 is that of the mad genius we all have inside. Hysterical!!
Funny seeing Charles in the background with baby and wife at 16:28 :)
Charles sneaking in 16:33! The sand rail idea is very cool, that I would like to see!
Love your guises idea of a sand rail buggy. That should be pretty bad ass motor. Sounds great. Can’t wait to see what you guys build. I know it’ll be sick. Great video though.👍🏼🤩❤️😎
I poured me a new one and rolled a fatty in celebration when that beast fired up, chills down my spine guys, good work, that could be quite the project but awesome as it is imho, great episode!
Edit #1 ~ Now I've finished this I don't know if turning into a drag cart is so good unless you have the bucks to support such an adventure, and the there is the option of making it a fantastic dirt/rally/hill-climb/rock-climb something imho, then I thinking wtf, sand rail, but what ever the choices it needs some frame strength and a roll bar re-do at the least. Have fun folks and carry on, we'll be watching from PNW Canada for your next episode :)
16:31 best video bomb ever!!!!
@19:43 John fuses the problem. Well played!
That's seriously a monster in a tiny cage and it was confirmed upon firing, I could see this thing as an awesome drag beast if you stretch the front end out about a foot and put on the narrow drag tires.... That engine sounds like it would tear that frame apart though so it might need a smaller engine. 😅😂
That’s gonna be a bad ars sand rail. Gotta definitely do the rooster tails. I’m planning on building my old manco rattler and maybe use the engine from my friends old Yamaha enticer 440
I believe when Ike was using the test light to check for injector pulse with he was on the positive wire. Most injector pulse width signals are controlled via the negative side of the circuit to help minimize voltage and amperage spike in the circuit
I'm glad I got the feeling of experiencing a motor staring for the first time when it's your first time. Doing a similar build but with a smaller 500cc Ninja motor.
That's gonna be a Great Idea. You'll have a sand machine, for the Buscobeach in the Spring.
Yeah that three cylinder sounds really sweet I can't wait for the next video so I can see your boys having fun ripping it up.!
Yesssss!!!. Triumph is my all time favorite motorcycle. This has gotta be good
Awesome guys, love homemade vehicles with motorbike engines in 👌 can't wait to c that going for a lap🏁🇬🇧
Thank God you saved that kid!!! Can’t wait to see the sand rail!!❤
Charles and his lovely family getting a cameo . What a great guy he is is 😊.
Wow wrote this just as it started…sounds pretty amazing
I’ve been on a 955i and they’re pretty damn quick. I can only imagine the torque with the smaller wheels. I love the way those engines sound. Hope it runs.
I remember seeing this thing on marketplace and was so tempted to buy it haha
Definitely build a sand rail .
That British engine has the potential to be an animal & the best project you've ever done ✔️ 👏.
Great cameo by Charles & family too
Yes please do a sand rail. It's about time you guys bring paddle tires to the cars and cameras Chanel 👍
I’m glad the guys mentioned that engine sounded awesome, because it sounded awesome in the video lol😄👍
Love the saying on the fuel tank. They did a pretty good job with what was available. At 1st view,I was thinking 'dirt sprint racer'.A homemade 'Odessey' with a cage and a killer motor.I'm glad they didn't get into running around or we wouldn't be seeing it here ready to be modified into a screaming 'rail.'Make it Safe, with the fewest mods and run the track there for time.
I'm really liking the Sand Rail idea, that would be sweet
Lower and wider.... honestly I give the dude Props....he had an Idea....and put it to fruition...😎 Extra points on the sign on fuel cell.... milliamps on the light....🤓
I can't wait to see what you guys do with that engine. It looks like you new a new one of everything else though 🙂. I'd like to see that engine on another project, and maybe something a bit smaller on this thing. Regardless, thanks again for another entertaining video.
I've owned a Daytona 955i and Sprint RS 955i. Loved the engine in both. Different characteristics. RS motor is tuned more for torque and sport touring. Daytona is a bit snappier with a lot more up top (specially when you fit a Power Commander).
Both nice n smooth though.
Mine were reliable as hell.
955 engines sound great (with a good exhaust setup).
hay charles showed up at 16:31 with his lil one nice love the vids keep up the good work everyone
3 cylinder Triumph engines are torque monsters. I love the sound they make and how unique they are in comparison to other brands.
Love my 20 Triple 765RS
@@bassranger1054 Awesome! Take good care of it!
Kid had some cool ideas. Can’t wait to see you guys build a sand rail!
The sandrail idea is awesome! I like it.
I had a 2003 triumph Daytona 955i! I loved that bike so much power.
This project humbles me, as I was once a 15 year old kid who built an absolute death trap yerf-dog 3203. 50 mph with no seatbelts on a rotten bench seat made even the bravest drivers who dared get behind the wheel of that thing, come back with their tails between their legs 😂. Looking back on that, I was such an idiot for convincing myself to build that.
The reason Ike’s test light wasn’t working is because the computer dosent send 12v to the injectors, they get constant 12v. The computer uses Pulse Width Modulation - and pulses a ground to the injector rather than a 12v source. This thing looks awesome guys.
Those injectors work on a contestant power circuit. with ground completing the circuit. requiring testing on the ground side of the injectors. or on a millivolt circuit. you would have to have a tester that would be compatible with a millivolt circuit. I would leave the configuration of the kart the way it is. it's already got slick's on it, you would just have to add some wheelie bars and would have an AWESOME wheel stander. although some of janky stuff would have to be taken care of for sure. that's still a really good score on that kart. depending on what you paid for it because it has some really good parts on it.
Even though it was brief it was nice to see you two boys introducing that cart in the old shop
16:35 about time you showed up for work 🤣🤣
FANTASTIC!
I can't wait to see you guys at Busco Beach, in the sand with that motor! This looks like it's going to be epic!
I'm going to follow this build very closely.
Good luck guys.
Full credit to the kid that built this .. Yes, there are issues and it's a bit of a death trap, but for a kid and probably his first "big" build, not half bad really.
The Ford Ranger front suspension is awesome!
Sand rail for sure! The sound is incredible...
The Triumph triple 995 is a peach of an engine and an iconic unit. You buys should rethink this. New chassis, or fully reinforce the current one, and built the best. That lap record around your GP track won't last long!!
That is a snappy sounding engine. Also, I'm 52 and I couldn't have built this, so bravo to the kid.
Really cool project guys lot of potential
Always Have watched you guys since y’all started the channel not missed a single episode but that’s pretty low putting down the 16 year old that built that I’m gonna be honest it wasn’t done as we all could tell I’m pretty sure y’all ran like 45 on a mower that still had stock steering hell I’m proud of what the kid did I’d hop on it in a heart beat when he got it done and let him take me for a rip
I’m 30 and have a welder and a shop and some knowledge and I don’t think I could get half the stuff right the kid got right if that 16 year old is watching thumbs up brother u did a hell of a job
I have the carbed predecessor to this engine in my Paris Dakar replica. Love me a Triumph triple. Just something intangibly satisfying to the note and the ride.
Alot of torque there! Good motor for a 4 wheel drive.
Awesome find! The engine sounds very good.
The oil looked clean, so hopefully no surprises. I think it may have just been aerated from overfilling and the engine being inclined. 🤞🏻.
I definitely wouldn’t run it too much before confirming the oil pump pick-up is submerged, and not sucking air.
Keep up the great vids, and I can’t wait to see more of it!
Ha! The scene of charles stepping into the background with a baby made me laugh
Love the idea of Sand drag rail. When you first said sand rail I thought you was talking like a vw dune buggy which we here in Michigan call also Sand Rails. Lol
I'm amazed because the horsepower math from John was spot on, i had a calculator right next to me so i checked to see how close and 6.5 times 20 is 130. That was impressive, my head doesn't work that well most of the time. And of course you're gonna get comments on the small package, how can the guys not say anything
Very good start to a wild project, I had visions myself but not the tools, time, or finances.
I use those petals on everything I've built so far and love them!
As always, thanks for the great content and the inspiration to keep building!
Rooster tails. I like the way that sounds,,,the small packaged 955 sounds awesome also
GOOD LUCK!!!! Those Triumph electrical systems are JUNK! As a matter of fact, I've got a complete Daytona 955i that you can HAVE for $200 , just to get it out of my way! I'm located in Pitt County, not far from you. It's a complete bike, fairings and all. I'll even throw in an extra ECM and wiring harness!
I got tired of messing with the British "common ground" wiring system.
Looks like a fun and sketchy project... Perfect! You know what that means, it's right at home! LOL! It sounds good, I'm anxious to see what all you guys do with this one. That engine would be great for the drag rail, that would really be fun! But a sand dragster sounds pretty cool too! Best of luck with it! Thanks for another cool video guys! And as always, be safe!
The nice thing about stretching the chassis is that you can reposition the engine to sit properly!
Good job on the young fellow on using his imagination. Got to love the Hoosier slicks to hook up all that horse power.
love the sand-rail cart! i had a vw sand bug in a past life… it was a blast on sand and mud bogs!1 🎉🎉
SAND RAILS ROCK!!!
I'M ALL IN FOR THAT!!!
that will be sick a dragster with that engine
What a dope job for a 16yo ! Brings back the memories.
I'm thinking this would be the motor for the drag rail. It would be even better if you made a new frame for a rear engine rail. The final drive would be so much easier. That engine was born to BOOGIE!
Once you've got it all completed, you gotta get that kid out to mini mayhem and give him a rip!
I had a 1999 Triumph Daytona 955i. Love the sound of that triple. Lots of mid range torque and a blast to ride. Cant wait to see what you do with it. Ultimate road race cart is my idea.
Thank you guys for being encouraging about the kids build. Most kids won’t come out of the house to scratch their butt.
IT LOOKS
FAST!!!
JANKY...
But FAST!!!
I would take that engine and put it on "The Death Trap" and make it competitive with the Rail!
That’s awesome I built my rock crawler at 14 years old and still diving it to this day!
I had a '98 triumph trident 900. 100HP on about a 450lb bike. It was a rocket. I've waited for a while for you guys to play with an English triple.
Me & my buddies watch a lot of your all's videos. And we think we got something that would maybe be a fun interesting video for you all to do...Laser Tag Go Karting! Get some laser tag vest & guns at Walmart or somewhere. Each gun & vest is less than $35 there. Then when you get them, mount the vests on the back of each go kart & extend the wire to the gun & you have to shoot while you drive on the track but it should be the late evening or night time to do it this way you can see them light up better. Do it for say 10 -20 minutes & whoever has the most points wins.
OR
Same concept but instead of points to win its based on position to win. So when you get shot & your gun deactivates, you have to stop or slow down until your gun lights back up then you can start going again. This in theory should make it closer of a race resulting in multiple lead changes & whoever is in the lead after say 10-20 laps wins
Now, this looks like it's going to be one insane rocket ship!
Finally some more streetbike builds! Gotta be my favourite! 🥰
Yes sand rail dragster. You have some good parts to start with. Looking forward to build.
I would make a all new project. Around the engine! Love all of your videos
