Saddest part for me is 1:56 where the dad is left completely unarmed, helpless, surrounded by zombies, one of which used to be his daughter, he takes one last look at his wife before she is overwhelmed, and then he succumbs to the same fate, truly heartbreaking.
Also just how the way she latches onto his back, mirroring him giving her a piggy-back ride as he may have done before so many times, the joy of it peverted by the context.
It’s really unsettling that you see that as soon as she hits the ground, the ‘zombie’ disease seemingly disappears and she looks human like she did before
She turned like seconds ago so the virus inside her died and she returned to humanity
Almost like the virus had no use of her anymore, which by saying that is grim AF
Honestly think that's just for the effect of the trailer. In game the zombies didn't look human after you killed them.
She probably wasn't alive long enough for the virus to take full hold and it probably died with its host.
Its basically signifiying that she is still a young helpless girl, and that was taking away from her in a second, its truly saddening

The saddest part is that all of the main characters are canonically just ignoring this and sleeping in the next room over
That’s just one of the many plot holes in the story that annoys me.
In the opening cutscene, you’re “playing” the role of a heavily intoxicated man who witnesses the opening stages of the outbreak before he swipes some pills and uses them to pass out in his room. You then awaken as a completely different person in the same room and it’s never explained what happened to the drunken man whose room you’ve stolen, nor is it explained how and why the 4 “heroes” meet up at the beach shack.
The tie in novel helped clear this up a little, but not by much.
I was shocked with how emotional I got despite not knowing any of the characters
Duo Damsel it’s not surprising, seeing the father desperately trying to save his family and failing while the mom was in total shock isn’t just sad it’s an emotional wrecking ball...it’s empathy
you saw a happy family getting attacked by evil, they fight desperately and all die.
of course you will feel sad, if you don't you might be a literal psychopath.

The saddest part is when the kid falls from the floor and hits the ground...then they zoom in and she has a little tear..OMG IM CRyyYyYYyyINnnNGg
I noticed that too! I also noticed how when she hits the ground, her skin is pale but then in a split second is like the infection goes away and shes her normal self. I guess shes crying she died 😦

It might sugest that for a brief moment, freshly turned zombies return to humanity when killed.
This same idea was shown in "Nation Z" the SyFy series.
When one of the character who was infected had to be killed by another one.
Their eyes where grey and blurry, but returned to normality in the second they died.
maybe it was something to do with the lighting change, you know, because she was yeeted out the window

Chronological looks so badass though.
Chronological is way more sad, while reverse is more action-packed.

I’m not gonna lie...this pulled my heart strings...the father had a hard choice to make a very hard one I couldn’t have made...he saved his daughter regardless of her being bitten...he did his hardest that he could to save her life and his wife’s...in the end they still died...but the father did what any father would have done...protect his family

Yeah, although they would have to edit the trailer slightly so that the girl doesn't bite the dad; I wished it could've been a game focused on story and emotions like The Last of Us; you see last decade, people wanted crappy KEIS games (kill everything in sight) with no focus on story; now, we have entered a new era of intelligent poetic gamers who want story
LordofTOTALwar Actually since the game revolves around people who are immune to the virus, they wouldn't really need to edit the trailer at all.
Being able to play as the dad would bring such weight to the game...the furious father driven by rage and survivors guilt would have have made a masterpiece

If you notice, her skin actually reverts back to normal. Don't know if that means she's okay or if we know she died peacefully.

0:57-1:08 The tune of the string instrument used in this part is so emotional. Kinda reminds me of the combined sounds of the pipe and another wind instrument in the Hymn To The Sea by James Horner for the Titanic film.

She was in shock,her daughter just got attacked by infected people and was dying,plus then she turned and bited her dad's neck while the infected were already inside the room,and none of them expected that situation,it happened pretty fast,I don't blame her,it was a pretty critical situation with very slim chances of survival.

The main character could have jumped in and help the Husband and Wife.
In the actual game there is a easter egg from the trailer: You can find the same room in the hotel and i think you can find the man or the womans body. And a picture from the whole family.

Can we please talk about how 8 years later this game still has hands down one of the best trailers. Its emotional and visually beautiful.
I like the way people are complaing about zombie lores. 1) they arent real
2) theres a reason they are named infected and not zombies. They can make their own shit up depending on how they got infected

this one is more emotional and sad.
the reverse version is more action-packed and the emotion is toned down a bit to the level it creates hype for the game instead of tearing your hearts to pieces.
there is a room in the prolouge with mother and father lying there, but there are a few problems with the room, like the floor isn't wood, the axe holder isn't in the hall(the hall looks nothing like the one in the video), window isn't shattered, and a few other small things like the way the door is broken isn't the same
^ The game and the trailer were not made at the same time. The game was made first, then when completed the trailer was made. The easter-egg in the game was added late, and so they didn't want to spend too much time making it identical.
