- Emerson, Lake & Palmer (ELP) were a British progressive rock supergroup formed in London in 1970. The band consisted of keyboardist Keith Emerson, vocalist and guitarist Greg Lake, and drummer and percussionist Carl Palmer. They were known for their virtuosic musicianship, elaborate stage shows, and blending of classical music influences with rock music.

the finale of Aquatarkus is epic
I think one of my favorite albums, okay cassettes, was "Welcome Back My Friends to the Show That Never Ends..." in the seventies. Now I had a few of their studio albums, but that live version was epic.
Rachel Flowers does an incredible cover of this song on Keith's modular moog.

"Pirate's" from Works Vol. 1. Several years had passed since this album, "Tarkus" and I think it's one of their later masterworks, alongside of "Fanfare for the Common Man".
This album was my first listen to Tarkus My oldest brother attended this show In Salt Lake. This was the famous show that Greg was arrested for skinny dipping in a closed pool. at the concerts the sound was moving. back and forth in 4 corners of the stadiums. Very ground breaking at the time. The audio was called Quad Sound or something of the that effect.
Quadraphonic sound. It was a specific type of sound production for recoding and also concert pa sound ie: ELP. It never went very far with consumers and died away after just a few years. Quad recordings were not all that common even at he height of the Quad sound fad, and they were rather costly compared to the standard stereo version of the same album.

Actually think the studio/album version is better although it is nonetheless amazing how good they sound in concert. Had the opportunity to see them live on several occasions and they were indeed “shows that never end”! They were three brilliant musicians that produced epic tracks. Consider checking out “Pirates” in a future review. It’s terrific. Thanks for the review!
