Loved that extra touch of magic you gave us by letting us see your extra footage! Thanks as always Gregory!
I love that this is one of your faves and yet you are still brutally honest about the quality of each component.
Coming to Singapore tomorrow and my google map has about 50 places marked thanks to you!
Peter Kontogeorgis Glad you find my vlogs useful! Hope the food lives up to your expectations!
Not my first time so I know how good the food is going to be!!
Me, too, Peter. 10 days and I had to skip 3.
Happy to report that this video is displayed on repeat at the stall front now. 😅
nice!
read from the news that they changed owners since 2020. do yknow if they still worth the trip down to try?
@@tellmewhy if you’re asking me I’d say it tasted quite ordinary
@@kokhoongcheah8440 that is sad man... wondering where's the original owner now
These guys are awesome! Thank you for making it.
Thanks for sharing with us all your personal favourites!
"More more eating". is my life motto in Singapore :D Fab as per usual Greg!
Thanks Greg. Another amazing vlog... Cheers
thks Greg for another great find! I am a hokkien mee lover!
think you're the most honest full disclosure food blogger..... good on ya mate.....
Generous serving is reviewer's version, don't expect the same when you order.
Agree! This is one of the best stall for hokkien mee! Their fried beehon is very yummy too
Thank you so much Greg for letting me live/eat vicariously through your vlogs all the way here from NZ 👍 big ups for your honesty in your reviews can’t wait to visit this place upon my next visit to SG!
Looks like stall auntie took a picture or video of you from 7:43 to 7:50. Would love to try them but will have to find a perfect day to be a local tourist since I'm from west SG. Nicely presented video.
Hi Greg, I actually went to eat yesterday after watching your video. I ordered a 6 dollar version and guess what, the portion is about the same as yours!! I think the only noticable difference is slightly less eggs and 6 prawns. But really by telling the hawker to cook a little longer for more wok hei, it tastes REALLY GOOD, the deeper you eat, the better it gets!
I agree completely!
Wahoo 12K subscribers💪🎉
Looks great! See you in February!
Nam sing at old airport road! And bon appetit at Yishun park hawker (killer chilli) .. these 2 are the best
Live around that area and always drive past this place. Never knew the hokkien mee because i can never find a place to park. Maybe next time i will just park at the i12katong and walk across.
Going down on Sat to try the Hokkien noodles... thanks mate
Love how simple the video is.... what editing software do you use to edit your videos?
Bryan Goh Final Cut Pro x :)
The lard looks amazing, not just because of the size or quantity.
So i bring my camera and set up too na ha ha ha 🇸🇬🌷
Wow.. Thanks for the update
Was there at 10am
Saw he wasn't there
Never knew this place sold Singaporean food. It's front design just SCREAMS western. will check it out!
Haha Greg have a standard facial expression he took his first bite... all food vlogger have tendency to do that. Thanks for recommending! 🤭
Look delicious what is the opening hours.
Hey bro! I was the one who met you at Chinatown hawker few days ago remember? 😁
Will try
Is it just me or I mix the chilli in with the whole bowl of Hokkien mee every timr
I read online that the owners sold Off the shop and pass the reigns to a successor. Have you gone back and tried it?
what do you drink as to accompany your food....me would have a very freeze gold tiger....hehe
try Geylang Lor 29 Hokkien Mee down the road, half a km towards siglap/bedok
He's already done a video on it actually
Always walked past the place on the way to have my katong sc chicken rice, didnt know they served delicious hawker fare.
totally worth it, look at the number prawns
Hi Greg, I went to this shop last week after seeing your video. I sat exactly where you sat, and your youtube video was playing on their monitor.
I got the $5 order, and it was enormous. I only ate about half of it. Personally, this dish isn't quite for me. I felt there were too much noodles, and lacked seasoning or vegetables. I prefer dishes that have a little more of a punch to them, like Lor Mee or Char Kway Teo.
By any chance I can find black Hokkien Mee like in Malaysia?
did you remove another HOKKIEN MEE video? i remember seeing you posted one video of a owner cooking it and he flip the utensil like a tennis racket?
Curious what Singapore think of KL style Hokkien Mee?
Wa must try, good kam sia
Hey Greg interested to know which hotpot place was being shown in the intro. Thanks in advance ^_^
it's a kampung chicken hotpot restaurant in Guangzhou. not in SG unfortunately!
Oh lol thanks for sharing!
Ah yes, joo chiat, food times`)
i just read your update. OH NO!!
Great😋
East Coast Road and Joo Chiat Road..on which corner?
I spent allot of time eating in Katong.
Never disappointed.
David Greenfield there’s only one junction where the two roads meet. It’s opposite 112 Katong mall
@@GregoryLeow I understand that , but, there is a north, south, east, wet orientation.
So, is the shop on the north east corner?
David Greenfield it should be northwest corner
@@GregoryLeow thanks
Looks so freaking delicious! Hey Greg go try Xie Kee Hokkien mee at Bukit timah food centre! It's nice!
have you come back to this store after the new owner take over?
Very yummy 🤤
👍👍👍👍👍
Huge plate with lotsa 'liao'.
Just a late update to this vlog - Mr Pang and his wife retired august 2020 and the name and the business as sold to new owners. The taste is unfortunately not the same anymore.
Wow the $8 portion and the pork lard
Hi Greg, loving these videos, I am wondering does bringing a Camera to the owner or cook cause them to be nicer to you all of sudden giving you bigger portions? I noticed this trend with a lot of food vloggers who bring cameras and the owners wanting to look good give them a huge portion for free which may not reflect what their actually serving. I trust you of course since you insist on paying but it does make me wonder🤔
It is starting to happen. Which is why I tend to go a few times incognito before filming to assess and test. Then I don’t give them any warning when it comes to filming. I just order holding the camera and pretend it’s not on lol. But they’re getting more savvy.
I will keep that in mind myself, since I will be going to Singapore maybe soon, I'll try to visit as many of these places you've talked about. Thanks!
Moral of the story...go order with a camera in hand. Auto upsize lol.
Wow practically grew up eating here. Back in the day we called it “corner coffeeshop”. They had hokkien mee, char kway teow, super satay and hor pau. Also the hot hot wah ko kueh.. love this hokkien mee too.
On a side note, there is absolutely NOTHING more delicious than crispy oily fried pork fat..
Not healthy u fool
Good Putin Not your concern u tool
I remember years ago there used to be a duck rice stall in that same area selling tau kwa pau. Now it's gone.
How is this Hokkien Mee compared to Guan Hock Tiong Eating House at 153 Serangoon North Avenue 1?
Very different but it’s a close call between the two!
Isn't this stall closed for good?
Loooks delish....😋😛
At Joo chiat ROAD?
Boon Keng address and opening hours are in the video description :)
is this a reupload?
MicroExel yes it is, sort of. I had it up for half an hour last Thursday but had to take it down to sort out video playback issues
The lard is healthier than vegetable oil.
$5-$6 food price in singapur becoming $8-$10 price food?
Thanks 🌴🍉 jocina Kujna 🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉
The old couple retired. The food has gone to shit with the new operators
Sad to say the quality and taste is totally off after the new owner took over. Hais....
Very sad
Was thinking to go but now looks like not worth anymore
omg new owner? the old couple no longer there? ok maybe im gonna give this a miss then
@@nkrulez long time ago change owner liao.. since Aug... new owner really CMI... haiz
Gregory, why you go and tell my secret fave Hokkien mee to everyone!!!! Why? Why??
Hahaha... sorry bro
Have 8 dollars pack away only to find 4 prawns ,little sotong and no pork slice. Mee was too much with little or no bee hood. Rate as 4/10
First!
Eat lah ? talk less ?
Too dry; honestly it’s avg at best
Eat moderately at your age, dont always go for large portion with added stuffs, its super unhealthy. If this goes on, i doubt you be able to last for the next 5 years
I always go there to look at the uncle legs. He always wears short shorts. I love his legs
