- One thousand new law enforcement trainees of the City of Cape Town, under the LEAP programme, will add to the 1 300 that are already on the ground in the crime hotspots of the city.
This is to assist the SAPS in the fight against a Metro ravaged by criminality.
Five of the top ten crime hotspots in the country are from the Cape Metro, according to latest SAPS crime statistics.
Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis and Premier Alan Winde are to attend the training session.
Let's cross live to Vanessa Poonah for the latest.

They must do kind of recruits thru all provinces not only Cape Town
When panyaza did this in Gauteng the DA said it was a waste of time and money. now they're doing it themselves and it's being regarded as a genius idea. 😂😂
Indeed, but now they clap hands for Cape town. Wow
John steenhuisen is a crook , he was hiding fir along time that DA is supporting illigal foreigners same as he was using maimane to win african votes by putting him in front
Its too late for the DA in WC. Panyaza was smart enough and did this program months ago, he may reip the rewards due to that.

Why only now action is being taken is it because elections are next month more police and officers fiscally capable of doing the position were needed years ago the 2021 unrest was a big wake up call for the country but better late than never.
How convenient on the doorstep of Elections
Victim mentality 😊😂😂😂
Why don't they send the sandf there are more soldiers to do it because they are doing nothing at the sandf 💯
Give us the finances to deploy SANDF. Sadly they don't even have the money to maintain the critical equipment
