what is wrong with these comments? good heaphones cost money, that's the way it is. Just like a good camera costs easily more than a grand or even multiple. Just because you can't afford it, doesn't mean it's overpriced.
This comment needs to be higher up. An iPhone 4 is just as capable of making photos as a $3,000 DSLR - doesn't mean that they're equal, of course the DSLR will have way better image quality. Same thing with headphones.

OBVIOUSLY Audeze is a audio brand for Musicians and High End listeners. Way better than any stock brand like Beats or Bose.

I just realized i bought a pair of Audeze LCD-2s that were inspected by the same person as his.

Really don't like it when you review audiophile products to those who don't appreciate good headphones. Most of the people here use audio technica and v-moda headphones thinking they're the best headphones in the world which is really pathetic. Audeze is a great company that makes world class headphones, and they deserve much more attention, but showing them off with a "staggering" price point as the attention getter is the wrong kind of attention they need. This is actually audeze's first affordable and stylish headphone with their LCD 2, X, 3 all going for $1000-2000. Keep in mind that these headphones are planars, and not the traditional dynamic, so a good quality amp/DAC is highly recommended to take full advantage of them
Audio Technica and V-Moda are miles ahead of what MOST people use (cheap china earbuds, apple ear buds). Not to mention the overhyped crap made by Beats.

Wawaweewa Rice I own the m50x, which is my first headphone. It sounds absolutely amazing for the price and I can use it most places, like a train or plane (which is why I got it over the HD598). I, however, agree with you in that they are way way way behind something like this (hence the cost difference) and the fanboys need to pipe down, and they - by extension make others who use said brands look bad. But I'd also like to ask you to stop bashing the headphones and calling them trash. They are amazing for what they are.

It's like the moto g for example. Great phone for the price and performs smoothly like the other flagships. A phone worth recommending. But when people start saying it's the best phone in the world in every phone review unlreated to the moto g, it starts to get a bit tedious and annoying.
I'm sorry, but... no. These are not affordable by any stretch of the word. Their price is still prohibitive. Just because their big brothers go up to 3000 dollars doesn't mean these ones are cheap.
Are they worth the money? Of course not, they cost twice as much as the Fidelio X2 and the HD600. I'm sure they sound better, but for the amount of money you have to throw at them it's a waste. High end audio fools are so obsessed with buying the most expensive headphone they can get their hands on that they probably can't even listen to their music anymore. All the can hear now are the sound signatures of their absurdly priced headphones.

If I'm being honest $700 isn't that bad if they're actually good, durable and you're a responsible human being who doesn't trash their crap and replace it every 3 months.
There's no reason they shouldn't last you a good 5 years or more; that's about $0.10 a day.
Things like headphones, appliances, houses and cars are worth spending a little more on because the avrage cost per day turns out to be almost noting in the long run.
DRJGD666 They'll last easily more than 5 years with basic maintenance. Just keep them clean and replace the pads eventually.
Problem is, Audeze headphones have always had serious problems with quality control, and it's not getting any better. The best part is, the best sounding units, affectionately called unicorns, are the ones that die if you look at them wrong. The way I see it, Audeze is a mess of a brand, and I'm not into playing the lottery to get a headphone that sounds how the manufacturer intended it to.

Can't believe how many people do not appreciate audeze's new change in design. These are audeze's first affordable and stylish headphones. Keep in mind these headphones are not targeted at teenage pop culture. These are aimed at more mature audiophiles who have no cravings of flashy headphones to show off for a logo. The shure se846 he reviewed uses a multi driver crossover which crams in many small balanced armature drivers. There are much better iems out for the $1000 price tag of this non custom such as the JH13 from JH audio and the fact that the single dynamic driver ie800 iem beats out the sr846 in every aspect but the bass (due to having only 1 driver) makes the shure look sad in comparison. The audeze el-8 is a completely different story. It is a full sized over the ear open back headphone using planar magnetic drivers (1 of the only 2 manufacturers in the world to use this type). They would sound more similar to audeze's other headphones such as the LCD 2 and the LCD X
I'm no teen. Lol. I can't stand beats or any glamour marketed fads. I won't give props to a big name if I do not like the design. However if they sound right, I'll give them a buy. Just so many choices. I've been happy with old bose set and jvc from 90s. Still working great. I surely don't label myself. I'm quite the "unfollower" of fads and marketing. I'm as you say more mature. Songwriting and performing are my soul. I create music. I know what I like. My point is still in my opinion that these may sound great, I just do not dig the wooden finish or the side hinge. That's me.

I think I can barely slide buy buying these headphones, but I know they would sound much better connected to a DAC/Amp. I found a cheap (relatively) audioengine d1, a DAC/Amp in one device, but I'm worried that it will not be as high up the food chain as el-8s need... suggestions?!?!
i like the idea of testing vinyl through a tube amp, because you won't be able to hear any the fidelity lost to the hiss and scratches from the terrible medium of vinyl, and the fidelity and transient response reduction and high end roll off that tube amps are designed to do. I think it's pretty clear you aren't aware of this because in a 5 minute video reviewing headphones, you said "the vocals and whatnot" and then "it's subjectivity." why did audeze send these to you lol

Solid all around. They handle bassy music like a champ, and their instrument separation is great for rock/metal and the sort. They're also stupidly comfortable. They do require proper amping tho, they're quiet on a phone/ipod. If I could magically refund the 600 i spent for these on ebay, i'd try out the Audeze's in this video, as they try to hit the same price point.

Vinyl?! Dude - you're listening to music created digitally - then transferred onto 100 year old technology.
High fidelity that is not. You want to listen to the music *as close to the original as possible*. Sure you might like a warmer sound - but it's just a distortion (one that could be created with a graphic equaliser - why don't you get one of those too?).
Can't really take any audiophiles who like vinyl seriously - and listening to digitally recorded music on vinyl is just - well stupid. All that hassle and expense for what - logically - must be lower fidelity sound, makes you an idiot.
You must concede this with anything recorded digitally. Anything recorded pre 1980 in analogue - almost certainly is also lower fidelity on vinyl too - but there you have a small, weak, argument. With digital music - like what you played - there's no argument that it could possibly be higher fidelity.
Just acknowledge that - and sell your crappy analogue gear.

There are disadvantages as well, obviously There is also a warmth to the tone of analog, all the waves are rounded, not binary/square, and it is perceivable. If you just want to crank some jams, yeah, grab an mp3, but to those that are serious about sound, like some serious about wine, or some are serious about cars, analog is nice. +Dennis Brown there are no advantages it sounds different because it has mono Base as sub 150-100 hz cannot be done in stereo on vinyl so Base is mono. some people like that
How to get the same sound experience for less:
1. Smoke a fat doobie.
2. Listen to your favorite music through regular earphones.
It'll sound just as good as these Audeze headphones.
I got these really good Bluetooth headphones, they are very good there is a bit of bass and everything but the thing was they were $35, I use almost daily and they also very comfy, I see these headphones are really good in your video but $700 dollars is a lot more money than $35 bucks

Sennheiser HD600 or HD650s are excellent as well, and play well with most amps. My 650 also works surprisingly well powered by my phone, tablet or laptop. Would highly recommend.

Do you have a small head? Because I see that you're using them on close to the smallest possible setting and I do have a small head (I use the smallest setting on most Sennheiser headphones, momentum, HD700, HD650, HD598 to name a few) and I've been longing for the closed back EL-8. Would be a shame if they were too big for me. :(
