I knew this trick, the problem I am having is doing this with a ref. Anyone know how to stop the reference from skipping numbers. I am using =IF(NAMELIST!$D1="","",NAMELIST!$D1) but in row three it uses D3 then 5 then 7. I just want to skip rows but count normally D1 D2 D3. Any ideas?
This only works if the next cell in the row is blank, if there is a formula or word, it will repeat that one as well and will not leave the second row unchanged.
This worked in one workbook I was working in, but now in my new workbook it is copying the formula into every row instead of keeping a blank cell in every other row. Any ideas??
Ok so I want one row to have in the original price of something and the row following to have it at a discounted price. I want that format to continue for 24 times. However when I use this formula that u recommend i see it deleting the original price and making the duplicates of the discount. I'm doing a simulation project for quantitative methods, where it says in the first month travel cost is normal however every other month it should be discounted by 50% so I'm trying to find a formula to do that instead of having to do it manually.
Exactly what I needed and super easy thank you!
I’m glad it helped!!

There are a couple of ways to address this. I'll put together an example for you
@@ApexTrainingLLC awesome you are a life saver!
Was this ever solved? I am having the same issue where the reference is skipping cells. Thanks!@@ApexTrainingLLC

My next cell is blank but it is still copying the formula into all cells instead of every other. Any ideas??
Thanks
You're welcome Paula!

Hi! Will check on this for you
Thank you, Rich! Very time consuming task & room for error when this doesn't work, blah! @ApexExcelTraining
Oy... I had some rows hidden. That was the issue. Resolved.
I’m glad you got it worked out!
what if we also have calculations in the other row
Hi Monique. Id love to help, but I'm not clear on the question. Which other row?
Ok so I want one row to have in the original price of something and the row following to have it at a discounted price. I want that format to continue for 24 times. However when I use this formula that u recommend i see it deleting the original price and making the duplicates of the discount. Ok Monique, email me tomorrow so we can schedule a time to talk. I can help you with this. richkerr@richkerr.com
create a new column and number it all the way down then filter to evens or odds to skip the other columns
Doesn't work
+PaleoAthletics hi, can you be a bit more specific about what is happening? I'd love to assist you, but I need more information.
