Endorsi, White, Jahad, and even Michael they don’t pretend that they are always in the right like Rachel does they admit that they are bad people and do wrong things but with Rachel it’s always someone else’s fault.

Rachel has always been my favorite character. Even on a surface level she is so interesting. Like, she’s aware that Bam is the main character and still chooses to fight for the spotlight, to fight against fate. This paired with the context of what fate is within the TUS universe is what makes her so interesting. She wanted to be a star and she knew she’d only be a side character standing next to Bam. So she chose to stand opposite of him. In a sense, she’s already achieved her dream of becoming a star. Just look at how many people in this comment section alone have mentioned her name. Every chapter has comments about her. Negative or not, she’s become a star. She’s already won. The fact that she is SIU’s favorite character also makes her even more intriguing to me.
I don't hate Rachel for pushing Bam, I don't hate Rachel for nearly killing Khun or Akraptor or any of the deaths involved with her. I don't blame her for the blood on her hands the same way I don't blame bam or white for becoming the monsters they are. I don't blame Rachel for manipulating Bam or Khun, in fact I praise her for her usage of the people around her to greatest effect. The difference really lies in the charisma and hypocrisy, White is a demon in human skin and it's a pleasure to watch a monster wreak havoc, Bam is a person with emotions I find interesting to see develop and grow in complexity, Rachel uses manipulation to get ahead but when she can't she blames it on God or bam for not giving her the strength to use other means. My dislike of Rachel stems directly from her conversations with Khun and Endorssi where she states that they are the same and in the same breath curses them for being better off. I never found Rachel particularly ugly, she seems to have roughly average light house control skills, her friendship with Yura Ha is just as valuable as some of Bams, her manipulation is second to very few in the tower at her level, and still she curses others for having more for being something other than she already has. Even the argument concerning the blood lost from other characters is moot, white has killed a billion people yes, but given the power and the motivation it's not like we can pretend Rachel would've done otherwise, she just hasn't had the means yet.
I would like to clarify, nothing said in the video is wrong, many societal wrongs push upon Rachel in a negative way. She is viewed with hatred and scorn unjustly for being ugly, manipulative and immoral. However, just because people state these as their main reasons for hating her, that does not make them incorrect to do so.

In the grand scheme, she has a motive for everything and we know none of it. She's an empty shell. Even her goals seems so usurp other people. Of course we don't know what her motives are. That's the problem. Everything about her seems to use and copy that of others. I think that's ultimately why she's disliked. We don't know who she really is since her characteristics are stolen from others. She wears a mask that covers up a void. We don't know her background so that makes it worse. As more is revealed, the more she makes sense. She's not the only one in this group of disliked characters but I'm just describing her. For all we know, the ending may change our attitudes towards her

I would like to ask though, could enough backstory change your opinion of her? Rachel to me is realastic she doesn't have the power to clime the tower so she uses other while bam is a prodigy gifted with incredible power, the world of tower of god is a unfair place where the weak a trample on like shit while the strong can do anything they want it's an unbalance society. Everything you said is spot on, I don't even thin I was that conscious of how differently people react to mass death compared to individual deaths. So I always learn a lot from these videos and they also open my eyes. I honestly think two factors are at play, the betrayal of both the audience and the beloved character Bam. If Rachel had shown signs to us that she was like that, she would be hated sure but not to this degree. If Bam had been a douche, the same would apply. We can see a similar type of effect in most other anime when betrayal is involved (Shield Hero being an easy example).
I love how they created Rachel character. This is related to how people in general can be. The fact that you can have someone close to you who smiles at you, laughs with you and pretend that they are close to you but in essence all they want is what you have. Rachel is a well scripted character in the sense that we learn that emotions can be a tool used to manipulate people.

Great video. I personally think her betrayal of baam in season 1 was pretty despicable. While she was just being manipulated in a larger scheme she didn’t need to get rid of baam to climb the tower and only cast him aside to try and steal his destiny, which at the time baam probably would’ve freely given to her if she asked
Never understood why people dislike her this much, her betrayal was one the things that kept me interested after the basic outlining of the setting was coming to an end. And it's impossible to really judge her actions as long as her motivations & past aren't fully known. Although that is also true for J[Z]ahad, without knowing what is actually at the top of the tower or why he decided to stop the ascension we can't really judge his morality. He could very well be serving the greater good, and his exact methods might simply be the result of choosing w/e options his prophetic powers show him to be the most viable.
You know who else thought they were doing it for the "greater good" look at WW2 in our own history. None of them were justified they're just bad people no matter how complex they are they make it worse for other people
Rachels motivations are too vague. Shes doing all of this for a very silly reason, to see stars. Maybe learning more about her upbringing will contextualize that. Not knowing her backstory makes her hard to empathize with.

One of the things I think you've forgotten is to that Rachel knows who Baam is. Others might not but she has the truest understanding of his origins of anyone in the series so far. The only person that might know more than her is Luslec. Baam is the kind of resource that I would keep next to me, but she burned a bridge that can easily lead to her death. She puts herself in horrible positions by acting on her emotions which she never has under control. I think she exists more as a line that Baam will have to cross eventually because she can't help herself when it comes to lashing out at others.
The thought that always comes to mind when I compare Rachel to Endorsi, for example, is the circumstances. Endorsi was put in this world, she was pressured to do the things she did. When we look at characters' pasts, we often see how characters changed from cautious and sincere characters to selfish characters because of the nature of the tower. But Rachel actively chooses to do what she does almost like she is searching for it.
Rachel stands out because of the nature of her betrayal. Betrayal at the hands of those closest to you, someone you loved, and trusted more than anyone… it hits different. It’s like the Judas betrayal of Jesus. Everyone can relate to that feeling to some extent. And it strikes a chord in the heart. And everything she does after that only keeps adding insult to injury. But to some extent, it’s also because of how relatable her character is. I mean, she’s not special at all, she has no gifts or powers, she is afraid of dying, she wants something she knows she can never have and as a result becomes willing to hurt others to get it. I think deep down, we can see a part of ourselves in her character that we would rather not see. A part of ourselves that disgusts and revolts us to the core. A part of ourselves we often don’t want to admit is there. And that’s also why she’s so hated. She’s a reflection of the greed and jealousy that exists in every human heart - willing to betray and sacrifice even those closest to them to get what they want. And experiencing that type of betrayal at the hands of someone you trusted - everyone experiences that at some point in life. So we can all relate to what Bam is going through when that happens.
To be fair we don’t know she isn’t special. In fact a billion things say she very much is. Just because she, like Baem, thinks that she is not special does not make it so.
Great video, great message to the community, nice to see more readers like you. I really love what she gives to the story and interacts with other characters and concepts. For example Hoakin even developed an attachment towards her, and they both have so many things in common. Or the fact that the Heads are also being compared with "night" of the tower. She is pure gold of the Tower. It's really sad that the character, SIU put so much work into, turned out to be the one readers want to disappear...
Rachel did everything wrong. Plus it’s not good to try to portray and obviously meant to be flawed character as something she’s not. Finally a video who sums up all my thoughts on Rachel, shes my favourite character from tower of god, because shes the most human. All the other characters in tower of god are superheroes or villains, and rachel is that simple girl who wishes to become super, but absolutely has no qualities to become one and she knows that and yet she still persists forward by any means necessary.
It’s really bery simple. Rachel comes into the tower and begs for a test but then complains she has nothing. When the answer was actually she had Bam. She says she wants to be special but is using everyone else but won’t use the only person that actually wants to help her and values her. Fam for me its simply bam is the mc and rachel is a random that set bam on his path twice and I think 🤔 he still chasing her, “idk 🤔 since I haven’t finished the story, or come close to finishing it yet” and he found plenty allies willing to climb the tower with him or that’ll sit back and enjoy life with him if he so chooses.

Yeah I don't like most villains but I definitely do hate Rachel but I think it's what made Rachel a amazing random factor in the story and a point too see how much bamm has grown through out the story and how much Rachel hasn't grown in many way... And how far both are willing to go too see there wishes fulfilled. But as a character I tend too show more angry towards someone I can see people in real life, she's self centred and self-serving. This always shows with her relationships with others and seeing others as pawns..... Either way white might do more harm and damage physically but Rachel is messing with bamms head and that I can relate too unfortunately.... You asked for a counter-argument so here it is... and really of ToG is a social commentary and if Rachael's fault is really coming down to her just "not being the main character" (not good looking, have no extradionary talent, no borned into the royal family, etc) then Rachael's action is even more unjustifiable. My theory is just like Zahard did to Bam's mom Bam did the same to Rachel. Things that help me believe this is Bam in his own understanding at that time is the only reason he climbed the tower was to see if Rachel was ok. Zahard pursued Bam's mom in a similar manner. So, when Rachel abandons Bam, he steps out of his comfort zone in pursuit of his love but finally gets disillusioned with her and begins the second, major quest of the story to rise to the top to try to fill in the hole in his heart with something (everything) other than Rachel.... In the end, even if he beats every obstacle and gains the whole world, he will never be able to have the apple of his boyhood eye: That is the one thing that he cannot have, ever again -- his true love. (What's more is that Rachel-unveiled now wants to compete with Bam in true feminist fashion for the things *he* was meant for -- that he was once willing to give up for her -- trying to gatekeep him not only from her own heart but from any other measure of success in this world. *That's* what made her his enemy.)

I would like to ask though, could enough backstory change your opinion of her? Had she been some abused child with no self-confidence whose mission in the tower related to some higher altruistic purpose, would that change anything? For the reasons I stated it wouldn't, I don't find a problem with her methodology or her goals, it's her characterization as that of someone I don't like which won't change. Dude I'm just like you,i don't even hate Rachel for the bad things she did against morality, it's her character itself alone which has me hate her. White is much bad than her and endorsi or bam killed some guys but they don't pretend they didn't do it or pretend like they're some good guys or keep saying things are unfair, it's unfair for many, what i dislike about her is simply not about how many bad deeds she did, she actually doesn't contribute to anything, does she even try by honest means? This was a surprise I thought you was going to upload next month but this was a happy surprise great video. Rachel is a great character. Rachel to me is realastic she doesn't have the power to clime the tower so she uses other while bam is a prodigy gifted with incredible power, the world of tower of god is a unfair place where the weak a trample on like shit while the strong can do anything they want it's an unbalance society. Everything you said is spot on, I don't even thin I was that conscious of how differently people react to mass death compared to individual deaths. So I always learn a lot from these videos and they also open my eyes.
I honestly think two factors are at play, the betrayal of both the audience and the beloved character Bam. If Rachel had shown signs to us that she was like that, she would be hated sure but not to this degree. If Bam had been a douche, the same would apply. We can see a similar type of effect in most other anime when betrayal is involved (Shield Hero being an easy example).

I love how they created Rachel character. This is related to how people in general can be. The fact that you can have someone close to you who smiles at you, laughs with you and pretend that they are close to you but in essence all they want is what you have. Rachel is a well scripted character in the sense that we learn that emotions can be a tool used to manipulate people.

Great video. I personally think her betrayal of baam in season 1 was pretty despicable. While she was just being manipulated in a larger scheme she didn’t need to get rid of baam to climb the tower and only cast him aside to try and steal his destiny, which at the time baam probably would’ve freely given to her if she asked

Never understood why people dislike her this much, her betrayal was one the things that kept me interested after the basic outlining of the setting was coming to an end. And it's impossible to really judge her actions as long as her motivations & past aren't fully known. Although that is also true for J[Z]ahad, without knowing what is actually at the top of the tower or why he decided to stop the ascension we can't really judge his morality. He could very well be serving the greater good, and his exact methods might simply be the result of choosing w/e options his prophetic powers show him to be the most viable.
You know who else thought they were doing it for the "greater good" look at WW2 in our own history. None of them were justified they're just bad people no matter how complex they are they make it worse for other people

Rachels motivations are too vague. Shes doing all of this for a very silly reason, to see stars. Maybe learning more about her upbringing will contextualize that. Not knowing her backstory makes her hard to empathize with.

One of the things I think you've forgotten is to that Rachel knows who Baam is. Others might not but she has the truest understanding of his origins of anyone in the series so far. The only person that might know more than her is Luslec. Baam is the kind of resource that I would keep next to me, but she burned a bridge that can easily lead to her death. She puts herself in horrible positions by acting on her emotions which she never has under control. I think she exists more as a line that Baam will have to cross eventually because she can't help herself when it comes to lashing out at others.

The thought that always comes to mind when I compare Rachel to Endorsi, for example, is the circumstances. Endorsi was put in this world, she was pressured to do the things she did. When we look at characters' pasts, we often see how characters changed from cautious and sincere characters to selfish characters because of the nature of the tower. But Rachel actively chooses to do what she does almost like she is searching for it.
Rachel stands out because of the nature of her betrayal.
Betrayal at the hands of those closest to you, someone you loved, and trusted more than anyone… it hits different.
It’s like the Judas betrayal of Jesus.
Everyone can relate to that feeling to some extent. And it strikes a chord in the heart.
And everything she does after that only keeps adding insult to injury.
But to some extent, it’s also because of how relatable her character is.
I mean, she’s not special at all, she has no gifts or powers, she is afraid of dying, she wants something she knows she can never have and as a result becomes willing to hurt others to get it.
I think deep down, we can see a part of ourselves in her character that we would rather not see.
A part of ourselves that disgusts and revolts us to the core. A part of ourselves we often don’t want to admit is there.
And that’s also why she’s so hated. She’s a reflection of the greed and jealousy that exists in every human heart - willing to betray and sacrifice even those closest to them to get what they want.
And experiencing that type of betrayal at the hands of someone you trusted - everyone experiences that at some point in life.
So we can all relate to what Bam is going through when that happens.
To be fair we don’t know she isn’t special. In fact a billion things say she very much is. Just because she, like Baem, thinks that she is not special does not make it so.

I really love what she gives to the story and interacts with other characters and concepts. For example Hoakin even developed an attachment towards her, and they both have so many things in common. Or the fact that the Heads are also being compared with "night" of the tower.

Rachel did everything wrong. Plus it’s not good to try to portray and obviously meant to be flawed character as something she’s not. Finally a video who sums up all my thoughts on Rachel, shes my favourite character from tower of god, because shes the most human. All the other characters in tower of god are superheroes or villains, and rachel is that simple girl who wishes to become super, but absolutely has no qualities to become one and she knows that and yet she still persists forward by any means necessary.
It’s really bery simple. Rachel comes into the tower and begs for a test but then complains she has nothing. When the answer was actually she had Bam. She says she wants to be special but is using everyone else but won’t use the only person that actually wants to help her and values her. Being the star, the most important thing in Bam’s world and the light that guides him up the tower was not good enough
Fam for me its simply bam is the mc and rachel is a random that set bam on his path twice and I think 🤔 he still chasing her, “idk 🤔 since I haven’t finished the story, or come close to finishing it yet” and he found plenty allies willing to climb the tower with him or that’ll sit back and enjoy life with him if he so chooses.

Rachel to me just comes off as a hater.
Yeah I don't like most villains but I definitely do hate Rachel but I think it's what made Rachel a amazing random factor in the story and a point too see how much bamm has grown through out the story and how much Rachel hasn't grown in many way... And how far both are willing to go too see there wishes fulfilled. But as a character I tend too show more angry towards someone I can see people in real life, she's self centred and self-serving. This always shows with her relationships with others and seeing others as pawns..... Either way white might do more harm and damage physically but Rachel is messing with bamms head and that I can relate too unfortunately.... You asked for a counter-argument so here it is... and really of ToG is a social commentary and if Rachael's fault is really coming down to her just "not being the main character" (not good looking, have no extradionary talent, no borned into the royal family, etc) then Rachael's action is even more unjustifiable. The greatest lies that the social justice preaches is that everyone is equal when in reality it is not. Some people are born with better looks, higher IQ, born into money, have inante talent. You not born with these things doesn't justify one-self to go against social convention, do things underhanded, and betray people close to you so you can "get on even footing with those are are born lucky".
If you want to compare Rachael to Endosi... then you might as well compared Rachel vs the average person who's climbing the tower.. because despite how things seems in the comic... Rachael has a lot more going for her then the average regular.. being an Irregular herself... she was given multiple opportunities and power by being the person that's pulling a lot of strings in the background... and she uses it for her own gains and despite it all she hasn't achieved much. She was given a lot but it seems like she squandered it.
If Rachael was just a true villian mastermind then the average fan won't like her.. and a few might even appreciate her... the reason why a lot of fans hated her is her "entitlement". Remember when she and Baam first entered the tower she realized the test was impossible.. and then only to bitch and whine when she sees baam pass the test. My theory is just like Zahard did to Bam's mom Bam did the same to Rachel. Things that help me believe this is Bam in his own understanding at that time is the only reason he climbed the tower was to see if Rachel was ok. Zahard pursued Bam's mom in a similar manner. Rachel isn't use to being open and feels people will betray her or take advantage of her. She grew up helping raise Bam and imo if Bam did that to her no wonder she would treat Bam the way she does.

Bam is the kind and naive, gifted Sigma Male whose first love was the average ("ugly") Rachel and who would have happily married / remained with her and never strived for anything "higher" in life because he was madly in love with her: She fit the hole in his heart perfectly, as if meant to be. Baam is just here because of her. It's her dream who makes they climb. Maybe she is the one who will kill jahad (she's also an irregular). She is the one who have a real reason to do it: Jahad stand between her and her dream. Maybe Baam is just the instrument who will help her to achieve her goal, one way or another.
