We were excited to welcome the new YT Jeffsy into our testing fleet following an enjoyable first couple of days riding it for its First Ride Review at the end of last year. For the long-term review, we decided to give it to a rider who’d be able to log some impressive mileage on it and give a proper insight to its durability over the long haul, as well as some insight from a consumer perspective. While it’s not the enduro bike that Calum perhaps needed, it’s safe to say that testing the YT Jeffsy Core 4 was an absolute blast.

I think YT is a top brand. I can't imagine spending so much more money on brands like Specialized when YT exists.
My thoughts as well. I still crash all the time so that also plays into how much I want to spend on a capable MTB.
Specialize and Trek shit on YT sorry bro.
@@joshuaallswang8016 They (Trek & Specialized) must have slightly better frames but they charge a lot more for their frames. Considering most riders are not professionals, you get more for your money buying a YT frame because when priced together with all the components YT bikes are more affordable and have better component specs. I used to buy only Trek MTBs but bought a YT Capra last year and have found it perfect for beginner downhillish stuff at a local bike park. I'd love to get a new Trek Fuel EX (one of the carbon frames) or Specialized Stumpjumper 15 to replace my 2016 Trek Fuel EX 7 but can't really justify it because I'd spend almost twice as much for a Trek and still feel like the suspension package isn't as good as the highest Core 5 YT Jeffsy. Since I'm not a pro rider, I don't need a potentially better frame but would love to have the higher end componentry. If decent riders can slam a YT Jeffsy down this chunky rock, I'd say the complete bike build package is adequate for someone like me. Have you heard of YT frames snapping more than any other brand?
I just bought a Specialized Enduro expert for 3600€ , although it's a 22 model, nothing much change anyway.......so it's actually cheaper than a YT
@@Basement_CNC well yeah, clearance pricing skews things quite a bit.
Great review, and perfect timing as I have a Jeffsy on order 😄Overall the conclusion seems perfectly in line with what you'd expect, can do a bit of everything with big smiles along the way!
If you're spending 90% of your riding hours on big chunky enduro tracks perhaps not the right bike if you want outright comfort and speed. However, if you're someone like me who spends most of their time at typical UK trail centers it looks to be a great one bike solution.
YT absolutely killing it on the value front, and some of the best looking bikes out there!
It’s a good one for sure. Hope you enjoy it!
I ordered the Jeffsy Uncaged 13 a few days ago. I absolutely love alloy bikes and the retro look.
2.500€, Threaded BB, Normal cable routing, Simple Marzocchi suspension at 15.6kg. Excited to experience it myself.
Awesome, that build looks super cool. Hope you enjoy!
Awesome full review. I took your advice on the first version of this video you did and ordered the large. I've taken note of the 40-42.5mm stem. I will give the stock one a run first and see if I need a change. Now I'm just itching because my matte black core 4 won't ship until December 15th. Thanks again brother - you are doing us all a great service!
Heck yeah, stoked to hear that. That suspense must be brutal!
@@TheLoamWolf seriously!
how tall are you? i'm 6'0/6'1 and i have an 2021 jeffsy in XL and i like it so far. i do wonder what a L feels like though.
Good job on talking about creaks, rattles and overall issues as that is something that is so freaking important but is often never even mentioned in mid/long term reviews.
Thank you. If issues arise we do our best to mention them so others can compare against their own bike or consider for future purchases.
Agreed - I had a 2018 Trek Farley Ex-8 and less than 100 miles in (even after tuning/tightening during the break-in) it had a creaks in the headset and bottom bracket that would not go away. I rode with a friend who had the Fuel Ex-8 and he had the exact same issues.
Just spent the same amount on the Jeffsey Core 4 and the carbon frame alone sets it above in value, let alone the components. Hoping this good feedback stays true for me. I can't stand creaking noise.
I got the YT Jeffsy core 3, and the bike is sweet! I was on the fence about customer service prior to purchasing, But realized that the cost savings is a no brainer for what you get.
Speaking of YT Customer Service (CS) like I said I was a little concerned, but what bike company doesnt have its own issues. I owned a trek and when i had issues with the bike, it took forever for me to prove my case and getting the run around.
With YT i had bike issues which were all my fault from riding hard and every time i emailed YT CS. There was no questions asked and would send me a replacement part. Literally sent me a new sram centerline rotor that i damaged on a rock.
So if your worried about CS...YT is amazing when it comes to customer satisfaction.
I really like YT's Uncaged builds. The Capra Uncaged 12 for £4500 was very tempting.
Hi Loam Wolf, I really appreciate your reviews, especially these long term reviews, and I would really love to hear how this Jeffsy compares for you to other bikes in the same category. I don't need a full showdown, but a "climbs similar to a X, better than Y, worse than Z" and descends... Etc. Many of the bikes you've reviewed recently have been on my list and I'd love to know how they compare. Occam Sl or LT? Cannondale Habit? Specialized Stumpy? Yeti SB 140?
Being in SoCal and actually having done as many demos as I can practically do, I find these comparisons very helpful. I don't know how to compare Scotland riding to SoCal.
Any comments you can share?
Regarding the YT support I can confirm that they are very good at it. I purchased a YT Capra last year and got a little shifting problem, they responded quick thru email and even sent me a free derailleur hanger for free, which did not solve the issue, but they offered to pay me the cost of taking the bike to the shop, luckily it was just a little alignment to the derailleur hanger to which my shop did it for free. I am on my second YT bike and very happy with the bikes and customer support.
I really thinking about purchase CORE 5
Own the core 3. He's 100% right on the 50mm stem I also changed to 40mm.
Got it in spring little bit over 3000 euros. Insane value.
The Core 4!? How's that even possible?? I recently ordered one during the 12 days before Christmas campaign which have 12% on top of a reduced price. This made it cheaper than the Black Friday sales offer and ended up being 3695€ before shipping. Kind of upsetting if it sold for even less just a few months after release when the full retail price is ~5000+ euro (probably only cost that at release though).
I’ve seen a few jack moir videos shredding in the jeffsy and looks that it is a very capable bike
Got the same one about a month ago with the XXL frame. My first reaction was, ‘Dang, those wheels are chunky, and the handlebar is wide af!’ After a week of riding, I couldn’t imagine a better bike. I set the damper to around 30% SAG and the fork to about 20% (though after a few rides, it feels a bit too firm, I think 25% might be a sweet spot for me). Assembly was a breeze, the instructions are foolproof, and delivery was super fast. AXS is awesome too, really like the fine-tuning option in the app. Highly recommend it, you can’t go wrong with this one🤌
@TheLoamWolf A QUESTION that needs a quick reply because tomorrow my order for the Core 4 gets locked in!
I'm a 6' (183cm) with long legs and +/- 0 in ape index. After your initial test of this bike I felt like size L would be best for me. I'm mainly riding local more mellow and tighter trails where I want to pop och maneuver easily. I ride flow trails and jump lines at a nearby trail center every month and bike park a few times per year.
My current bike is a Jeffsy -2018 size L with 445 reach.
What's your size recommendation for me?
Your content is awesome !!
Large sounds like the ticket, unless you think the current Jeffsy offers the perfect descending body position.
We’d say the new Large will likely suit you very well though!
@TheLoamWolf WOW that was a quick and well needed reply, thx a ton! My current Jeffsy feels too small when descending enduro trails and very steep terrain. I did notice that you mentioned a shorter stem was preferred by one of your test riders, but I think he was on the XL then?. But if I put a shorter stem on the L to get better handling could the L suddenly feel too small for me you think? Or is the L that much easier to move around that I lighter not need the shorter stem. Sorry if my question is confusing!
You’re very welcome, you got us at a good time and we’re happy to help!
The shorter stem was preferred on the L size. However, it was by a 5’10” rider. You could consider moving to a 40-45mm stem without greatly impacting the sizing, but may still obtain the improved steering feel. Sounds like L is the size for you. 🫡
@@TheLoamWolf you guys are heroes!! I'll definitely point my riding buddies towards your channel 🫵
We greatly appreciate that! It means a lot to our small crew!
Ordered the Core 2 in blue frost, buzzing. I live down in Surrey so this will be ideal.
it is weird to post video filmed early spring in the end of august. long term review made in short time? ah friend did ride it.
Bike was ridden a lot by a trusted tester (as filmed riding in the video).
I'm coming from a Fuelx ex 8, and I think this will be my second bike to go along with the trail bike I have. I haven't been able to find another bike with this type of value.... anyone know any others with a GX package?
The weight of that particular bike please ? (in Large)
I want to say 33lbs.
If they now only stopped with press fit bottom brackets…
I can’t argue with you there, but I’ve had 0 creaks or noise of any kind from mine after 2 seasons
@@joshstokmans5534 Had my Izzo for 18~ months. And same there, no issues at all. But still, I dont understand why they dont just move to a threaded BB. Scor, Pivot and YT are for some reason not budging on the press fit...
Ha! Commented a few days ago on the original vid regarding the long term review. Ask and you shall recieve!
Hope it helps!
@@TheLoamWolf Looking at this, or a bit of a different option in the Raaw Jibb v1 that's on sale. Similar bikes in many ways, and then different at the same time.

You pay less money up front, so that you can pay more with your time and patience when you have to deal with customer service and warranty.
Wrong about that. I know plenty of people who have more expensive brands like Specialized and Santa Cruz. More money doesn't mean better customer service. All your paying for is the name brand.
My buddy had a Santa Cruz, cracked the rear triangle. He had a he'll of a time trying to get a new frame considering Santa Cruz had crash warranty on their frames. But still took months. Even then they only gave a replacement rear triangle.
I have experience with YT Customer Service because I own a 2024 YT jeffsy. I damage mt front rotor...my fault. Told YT, no questions sent me a new rotor in the mail. When I got my bike I wanted the tire repair kit that came work the Core 4 and Core 5 ($49). However this came prepackaged in the core 4 and 5. YT gave me $100 voucher to use on their website and purched the crankbrothers slim mulititool which was $91 and a 2nd water bottle.
Their customer service is top notch and others that have YT say the same thing. So don't talk trash if you have no experience with YT.
Also the cost savings is the being Direct to Consumer getting rid of additional cost of middle people which translates to cost savings.
